Hi Julia, You should have software to reinstall relating to some wirelss device and your PC. Try re-installing this software.Reboot your PC. If you uninstalled this software on purpose then try running CCleaner Registry cleaner again and see if there are still issuues to be fixed.Don't forget always backup Registry changes. Don't delete any start-up relating to this software again.Leave the Registry alone. If that doesn't work use this MS link. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/834340 Good luck, davey
  2. Hi scriptdaemon, CCleaner will delete those keys if you go Tools > Uninstall >(Highlight what is to be deleted) Delete. Also CCleaner is designed to be be as safe as possible.I would not use a cleaner that automatically deletes anything without my consent. Remember when installing or uninstalling software,it is best to Reboot as soon as possible after doing so.This avoids many problems and much confusion. You may have already done so. Following these basic practices, identifies when and where problems occur. It is standard practice for "experienced" users to do this for each install or uninstall. One at a time,is the trick. That way you don't reboot tomorrow morning and have a mess on your hands. New Users Advice However all inexperienced users be warned DO NOT uninstall or delete anything using this tool because it may not be doing what you think. DO NOT THINK that CCleaner is telling you to delete something.Quite the contrary,CCleaner cleans or uninstalls or deletes what YOU TELL IT to do. Unfortunately some new users mistakenly think the Tools > Uninstall feature is advising them to Uninstall or Delete something. DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE.New users must keep all their programs at least until they become more experienced. Uninstalling programs is not a normal activity. It should only be done after careful consideration. Programs and their corresponding files and Registry settings should only be "Uninstalled". "Deleting" programs or their Registry keys is a very abnormal and rare activity. This is an unusual situation. Programs do things for you.Programs cost money. The presence of certain software on your computer can get you discounts on future products. Uninstalling programs does not make your PC faster. It gives you back very little disk space. The corresponding files may be large and can be deleted manually. You may not use the program now but you might want to later. Some software inter-relates with other software. Best thing is hands-off for at least a year or two. SP3 question.

Just did my third install of Sp3 on a 3rd PC. Friday Night thru Sat. Morn must be the secret for downloading.Everybody must be out partying or recovering. This download was fast at about 350 KB/s.Install took about 1/2 hr. with Pentium 4 3.4 GHZ 512 MB RAM. Anyhow just set it for auto download and install when you want. davey
  4. Hi Obi-Ron, This thread by DennisD may also be helpful. Many users don't like Sharing Folders at all or just some of it.. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showto...&entry98351 Good luck, davey
  5. Uh oh!!! We may have a Unicode problem here. But it may be that if you are using the latest version of CCleaner you may need to use winapp2.ini and make your French modification. winapp.ini is not being used in the latest version CCleaner v 2.07 . Good luck, davey
  6. Forced Metricfication!!! Of course the spell checker did not like my made-up word. My first spelling was acceptable Metrication http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrication I found the following very acceptable. "The United Kingdom and Saint Lucia are officially in the process of conversion, although the UK has been granted permanent exemptions by the EU for the mile and yard in road markings, and for the pint for beer and milk". Don't want to confuse Dad and Mom,do we. Is your speedo set for MPH or KPH ? This may affect your other read outs as well. Drop me a PM with your car specs and I'll get you a definitive answer/solution. For your reading amusement. http://www.britannica.com/eb/topic-378775/metric davey P.S. Had to add "speedo" to my dictionary also.
  7. They apparently are still having problems. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...15105610AAbQoYV Good luck, davey
  8. Hi Maverick, I have been a member of this forum for about 6 months. Your situation is only the 2nd time I have heard this as regards AT&T anti-virus. You may just have to uncheck Obsolete software in the Registry function. Does AT&T show up in the Applications tab in the Cleaner function? AT&T anti-virus may also be doing some non-standard things like some other anti-virus programs to prevent malware from interfering with it's operation. Good luck, davey
  9. Hi Robbie, Thanks for all your input regarding Defraggler. Members like you help to improve the product. Have you tried defragging those remaining files,a few at a time. I have seen in the past that this sometimes helps to free up some of the space near the front of the drive. Then smaller files can fill in the gaps. Then Defraggler can do more about moving and/or defragging and getting more freespace defragged. Don't forget that those little file areas at the inside of the disk are probably files being used by Defraggler to do its work.Like providing you with your "view" of the Drive. davey
  10. Yes,it is for real. It is very important for those who don't have enough PC power to continue without Win XP. Suffice it to say this includes a major portion of those on the INTERNET. Sign up today! Join the 200,805 people so far (as of 9a PT on May 15) who have signed our online petition to demand that Microsoft not stop OEM and shrinkwrapped sales of Windows XP as planned on June 30, 2008, but instead keep it available indefinitely. P.S. It is also about individual choice.A mainstay of freedom. Microsoft is not being a "monster" in this matter. To them it is a business decision. They have already said that if they see enough public support in the matter then they will continue offering XP. It is now up to the public. It is up to us ,the current users,to speak up for the future users. They deserve a choice in this matter.Without our action, they will have no choice. http://weblog.infoworld.com/save-xp/archiv...the_save_x.html davey
  11. Hello Buff, That someone replying may have been me. Of course the first question I am going to ask is Did you reboot after downloading that software from MS ? It is necessary or the install of CCleaner will not work. That is if you got the same message. What message exactly do you get along with any error code? EDIT You said that you "deleted" everything. Is that correct or did you "uninstall" CCleaner? Is anything at C:\Program Files\CCleaner? What is in your Recycle Bin?Save anything related to CCleaner. This may seem strange.Download Recuva if you can. http://www.recuva.com/download EDIT The following info will help others to possibly come up with a solution. These answers help to evaluate the problem.Just fill in the answers next to the questions? Provide a list of your CCleaner.ini file.( Tick option for Save settings to INI file at Options > Advanced then close CCleaner. This file will be created in C:\Program Files\CCleaner folder.) Are you running with Administrator privileges. CCleaner version ? OS,edition ,32bit or 64bit and version ? Browsers and ver.? Security software and ver? Other data you think might be relevant? What did you do and then what happened? Thanks, davey Don't forget a new update to the CCleaner Guide came out Feb. 06,2008. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=1504 Bookmark it and save in your Favorites. SP3 question.

That was on a Sunday evening and I wouldn't doubt that a couple million other users were downloading at the same time.I might as well have been using 56KB dial-up modem.About 68MB in 1 hour. As far as install time of 1 HR, I have a Dell Dimension 2400 approx 2.8 Gigahertz Pentium 4 and only 256MB RAM at 333 Mhertz. Your speed may be much quicker than that. That old HP can handle it. No problems with the SP3 install at all. davey
  13. I use WinXP and Save settings to INI fileit comes that way whether a fresh install or install over prior version. As a matter of fact it comes turned on and greyed out.It can't be changed. davey
  14. Sounds like they must be under some sort of botnet attack and in their haste to set up those boxes they also installed a few bugs.My friend uses Yahoo mail and he thought I had something to do with messing up his access. davey
  15. Hello Joey, Turn off all the options under Advanced heading in the Cleaner on the Windows tab. You can leave the option on for Custom Files and Folders.Turn the rest off. Bet you discovered a lot of strange things happened when you used those options. Your "most frequently used" programs list will start to rebuild. It sometimes takes a reboot to kick things off again. Good luck, davey Don't forget a new update to the CCleaner Guide came out Feb. 06,2008. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=1504 Bookmark it and save in your Favorites.
  16. Yes,you keep talking about CCleaner.I am talking about the Installer. You did not have to ask MrG .It's history. So is VB in Installers. davey

Hello CC, Andavari,a Moderator on this forum set up this download for what you want to do. http://www.mediafire.com/?fgcyk1tli4x CCleaner_Auto_Shutdown.zip Allows CCleaner to auto clean, then shutdown Windows. This is an often requested feature for CCleaner Good luck, davey
  18. That's good with 1 overwrite. How did you manage to get that much into your Recycle Bin ? davey
  19. That is exactly what we are dealing with in the description of this topic. davey

    SP3 question.

Did the same as you on Sunday May 11,2008. Everything up to date. Everything disabled. Download took approx. 1 hr. Install took approx. 1 hr. davey
  21. Not unusual if the installer uses VB. I have no idea what his original CCleaner version was but if it was old enough it could have been VB. davey
  22. See this thread for a member with the same problem. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=103055 01:34 A.M. Eastern daylight saving time May 12,2008 EDIT Do what is explained in this link before anything else. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=5739 Solutions for when CCleaner won't install YOU MUST REBOOT AFTER DOING THE ABOVE. Did you reboot before you tried to Install CCleaner again? The software that you installed from MS will not be used until you do a reboot. The problems you describe with CCleaner sound like problems that existed in older versions. The latest version 2.07 has less bugs than older versions. If that doesn't help then answer the following. The following info will help others to possibly come up with a solution. These answers help to evaluate the problem.Just fill in the answers next to the questions? 23. # # # # octothorp / octothorpe / octathorp / octatherp Sounds like an important surgical tool to me !!! It's been a long time since I never used those terms.Hmmm... Thanks Talldog. That is going to help all of us a lot. Where do we look to learn all those different parameters after the URL at the top of this window ? davey P.S. IE7 Pro spell checker does not like those terms either.I think I'll leave them out of my dictionary.
  24. Try right clicking the Recycle Bin and select Empty Recycle Bin.Then also check Recycle Bin Properties with right click. Make sure settings are correct. If that doesn't work go to Kellys Korner look for Recycle Bin under R under Trouble Shooting A-Z. http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp.htm Add to Favorites and Bookmark it .You will use it often. 89,905.2MB That's 89.9 Gigs !!! When you say eraser, you mean the product ERASER? davey P.S. Do you really think some one is going to spend tens of thousands of Dollars or Euros to forensically examine your hard drive? Do you like buying new hard drives ? One overwrite is sufficient.
  25. Uh Oh. My IE7Pro spell checker must only have American English. It doesn't like the English spelling of litres and kilometres.I just added the English spelling to the dictionary. That's neat.I have been looking for that feature. Dennis are sure there is not a control or button to change that readout to MPG.Most cars here have this feature. You know what they say,"When all else fails, read the instructions". davey
