I did try, but running as admin didn’t come up as an option?

    I’ll try again!

    thank you

What operating system are you using?

If it is Win 10, press the start button once and immediately type cmd (no need to put the letters in a box or anything, just press start and type)

This in my screenshot should come up automagically

  2. One of the quickest ways you can check if it's any thing to do with any security type software interfering is just to boot into safe mode and run ccleaner.

I know quite a few people who use the free version, even on Win 10, kill the internet connection before running ccleaner as they don't like the 'phone home'

  3. In case people are wondering what you mean

We're pleased to announce that the latest version of Recuva has had a small update. This change introduces some basic product usage data reporting so we can understand which Recuva features are being used and which aren’t. This will allow us to decide how we develop Recuva and build features we think our users will like.

    Basic product usage reporting, covering:

Feature usage (click events, so we can see which features are used and not used)
Inactive sessions (a ping will be sent back to our servers every 6 hours so we know if users have decided not to use Recuva anymore)

So not an update to the abilities of Recuva itself, just data gathering.

Google recently introduced the Privacy Sandbox which will largely determine the future of privacy of Android users.

When you read the article you realise just how there is actually no privacy left no matter how they try to word it.

    Topics
This is the same technology that Google is going to introduce in Chrome. The main idea behind Topics is that the device itself will monitor which apps its owner is using. Based on this data, every week the device will calculate five topics that will have interested the user the most that week.

Apps will be able to get access to some of this data, and different apps will receive different data. This, according to Google, will minimize the risk of using Topics to fingerprint users.

I think there there is a new scam for CCleaner at the moment

It shows you a fake licence key , wrong expiry date and you get a free bonus VPN when you sign up and when you go to pay for it the payment fails and then asks for your login details

Where do you see a fake licence key? On a website? If so which website?

Can you give more precise details?
