  1. They are stored in C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner.ini as long as you have Save all settings to INI file checked in Options then Advanced.

  3. Drkngl, have a look at this topic: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=14139
  4. "the cement pond"? is a swimming pool. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beverly_Hillbillies I liked Elly May who was patterned after a daily comic strip Li'l Abner whose name is Daisy Mae http://www.lil-abner.com
  5. Thanks CeeCee. I set the cache to 2000 and that stopped the annoying icon refresh when I clear the Recycle Bin
  6. Outlook Express ( OE ) is notoriously fussy about its dbx files and corruption can occur if it is compacting the Folders and you switch away from OE. It is best to compact the Folders yourself occasionally. These are some OE tools that I use: OETool http://www.oehelp.com/OETool/Default.aspx OEBackup http://www.oehelp.com/OEBackup/Default.aspx Also move emails you want to keep out of the default Folders ( Inbox, Sent and Drafts ) and empty the Deleted Items Folder frequently.

    CCleaner Issues

I use freeware RegSeeker to clean out the registry then I use NTREGOPT to optimize the registry and always let the system reboot after this.

    incredimail

It only works if you enable HTML view in Outlook Express and that is not a safe thing to do as even opening an infected email can attempt to download its malware payload If a user is on dial-up then all of the baggage images that come with Incredimail have to be downloaded to be displayed and thus stopping all further emails from being downloaded. The first time you see an Incredimail email you might think it is cute but it wears thin after a short time plus it includes a spam trailer that advertises its download location.
  9. Update announcements are always posted in CoU Calendar: http://www.dozleng.com/updates/index.php?a...;event_id=47011

    Deezer V2:

It won't let me register. Something to do with Flash Player won't let me change anything
  11. I am going to use this RSS reader to see what its all about
  12. You can either reboot or bring up Taskmanager and end the explorer.exe task then go to File then select New task ( Run) and enter explorer then click OK.
  13. Canada went with the metric system ages ago and at first I had to do the conversion to get a reference for me. Just remember that -40C = -40F but who the heck would want to live like that I know that 25C is comfortable and below 20C is starting to become cool for me. 100KM/hour is OK on highways ( motorways ) and 110KM/hour will get you a ticket that cuts into your beer money. Just remember Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

    windows defender?

Why do you say that? I use Windows Defender and AVG Free. I also use WinPatrol and I was so impressed with it I purchase the PLUS update.

    .DBX FILES

Have a look at DBExtract at $ 7.00 it is a good utility to have. Err Msg: Address Book Failed to Load
  17. Get RegSeeker then use Clean the Registy to find an remove useless entries. Then use Find in registry ... for Norton then Symantec to remove the remaining registry entries if you really want to get rid of it. It stores Backup files and after a suitable time of testing they can be removed. Then get NTREGOPT to optimize the registry.

    sqm files

hazelnut, I use Hotmail with the basic Live Messenger update and that was causing the .sqm files to be created. I found the setting and made sure that the 'Customer Experience Improvement Program' tracking was un-checked and I'll monitor over the next few days for the existence of those files. Thank you and best wishes for the New Year.

    sqm files

On my WinXP Pro system I have a lot of .sqm files and I wonder if I can delete only but the most recent file? I see from a Google search that they are MSN Live Messenger files. Looks like I have to create a winapp2.ini entry for them.

  21. Happy New Year from Canada I'll be watching the Big Ball drop on TV http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gcetuNu...m7bXdAD8TS1ING0
  22. My preference is to set it to boot from floppy A: then CD-ROM then the hard drive. The reason I like to have it set up this way is to enable booting a floppy with a basic operating system ( OS ) that I can run FDISK to set up hard drive partitions then run FORMAT and then boot an operating system CD to install it. I do this without the system being physically being connected to an Internet connection as the system is most vulnerable during the OS install installation without a firewall. I then insure that the OS's firewall is activated and begin the process of installing the OS Security Updates.

  24. Sounds like you are talking about Dr TCP It permits you to set the parameters on each interface. This is a pic of my WinXP Pro parameters. Setting those parameters is a bit of trial and error and it takes a reboot to see if the changes have an effect. The DSLReports Tweaking FAQ has some hints.
  25. I use RegSeeker to clean the registry then I use NTREGOPT to compact the registry.
