ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. CSGalloway
After using this entry - did you wait for WLM to finish finding the emails? It seems not to have the problems you are experiencing - Windows Live Mail WARNING! Finally tracked this one down - recovered and imported Windows Live emails are routinely stored as *.eml files in various folders under "Storage Folders" - and the FileKey4 entry obliterates them completely leaving behind only an email header entry. After almost a year of hearing friends and coworkers complain from time to time that their older emails were no longer readable, I finally tracked it down to this entry added in April 2014. Since no one noticed it at the time (new emails don't go into this folder), any backups made since April are useless in efforts to recover the lost data. Some people have lost years of email correspondence (a few lucky ones still had backups from before April). Either remove the offending FileKey4 entry entirely or add an appropriate warning about the potential (I'd say almost certain) loss of emails! lemiak
Some guys, and me too, are reporting problems regarding download any *.bat files from winapp2. I don't want to hear this is not an issue. If we suffer from this problem we expect a little help from winapp2 admin. I'm getting following result while trying download trim.bat file: ----- ForbiddenYou don't have permission to access /trim.bat on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. ----- and there is nothing more from whireshark traces So the question is: Could anyone help us? Moderators Nergal Posted February 26, 2015 Moderators Share Posted February 26, 2015 As expected. Any idea how to solve this.... Couple pages back, I think Alan_b posted to the most recent. The domain either changed their rules for batch files or just the permission values on those files, the ini-compiler-@Winapp2.ini has not said which, nor should he feel obligated to devulge it. APMichael
Shouldn't FileKey4=%CommonAppData%\HP\Installer\Temp|*.* in reference to http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=32310&page=242&do=findComment&comment=259821 ? I don't think so, because FileKey1 includes this already (FileKey1=%CommonAppData%\HP\Installer\Temp|*.*).

magicfrizbees
After using this entry - did you wait for WLM to finish finding the emails? It seems not to have the problems you are experiencing - Running CCleaner with this entry (FileKey4) causes the entire Storage Folder (C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Storage Folder) to be emptied and removed, and more specifically, ALL the *.eml files therein are gone. The headers remain, but clicking on them produces an error message (A problem has occurred trying to open the message...) A new (empty) Storage Folder is automatically recreated the next time you start Windows Live Mail. Microsoft's Windows Live Mail import function puts all imported emails (each *.eml is an email) into respective folders beneath the Storage Folder, and many users create their own directory structure within this folder. Just tested it again - 20 (identical) emails obliterated in an instant (on purpose). Telling CCleaner to exclude *.eml files will also save them from deletion. EDIT - Just updated to the latest winapp2.ini - I see the Storage Folder entry has been removed (now five FileKey entries for Windows Live Mail instead of six). Thank you! CSGalloway
It might have helped if the original poster would have mentioned what FileKey4 was - would have saved a few messages.... And yes I concur that no FileKey should appear for anything under \storage folders\ - VERY BAD IDEA After using this entry - did you wait for WLM to finish finding the emails? I've still got it in my CC folder, and run once in a blue moon, not one for the winapp site? Or is it just pointless (can't say I've ever noticed CC launch quicker after running it but my OCD side likes it )
