  1. Running CCleaner with this entry (FileKey4) causes the entire Storage Folder (C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Storage Folder) to be emptied and removed, and more specifically, ALL the *.eml files therein are gone. The headers remain, but clicking on them produces an error message (A problem has occurred trying to open the message...) A new (empty) Storage Folder is automatically recreated the next time you start Windows Live Mail. Microsoft's Windows Live Mail import function puts all imported emails (each *.eml is an email) into respective folders beneath the Storage Folder, and many users create their own directory structure within this folder. Just tested it again - 20 (identical) emails obliterated in an instant (on purpose). Telling CCleaner to exclude *.eml files will also save them from deletion. EDIT - Just updated to the latest winapp2.ini - I see the Storage Folder entry has been removed (now five FileKey entries for Windows Live Mail instead of six). Thank you!
  2. Windows Live Mail WARNING! Finally tracked this one down - recovered and imported Windows Live emails are routinely stored as *.eml files in various folders under "Storage Folders" - and the FileKey4 entry obliterates them completely leaving behind only an email header entry. After almost a year of hearing friends and coworkers complain from time to time that their older emails were no longer readable, I finally tracked it down to this entry added in April 2014. Since no one noticed it at the time (new emails don't go into this folder), any backups made since April are useless in efforts to recover the lost data. Some people have lost years of email correspondence (a few lucky ones still had backups from before April). Either remove the offending FileKey4 entry entirely or add an appropriate warning about the potential (I'd say almost certain) loss of emails!
  3. Still missing that additional backslash (see post #727)...
  4. In addition to the correction noted above, add a backslash after "PSI" on the "DetectFile" line: DetectFile=%ProgramFiles%\Secunia\PSI\sua.exe
  5. That IE Passview utility did the trick! Thank you! There were about two dozen user/password entries in my "Credentials File". CCleaner apparently can't get at them. Other login credentials are stored in the registry, and those are the ones that CCleaner still wipes. This must have changed at some point? Some Windows update? I though it might be related to IE7, but an older system with IE6 was also affected. I know that these logins used to get cleared out, but I'm not that familiar with the "Credentials File". Anyway, thanks again.
  6. Grrr. Hit escape and lost my entire post. Take two (but never as good as the original)... I have become aware that CCleaner no longer deletes stored IE6/IE7 user names and passwords. I have several systems and they are ALL affected. All are running XP Pro SP2, one has NIS 2007, most have AVG Antivirus and Windows Firewall enabled, and one has the new Comodo Firewall Pro 3.0. All running CCleaner v2.05.55 (but the problem apparently began much longer ago). A quick test involves my router which requires a login. No matter what I do, the user name and password is always retained. OK - if I uncheck the "Remember my password" tick box, it IS blanked out next time - but I'd have to uncheck every site individually to un-remember them all, and I'd never catch everything. The thing is - it's not just CCleaner. I can't even do it manually any more! I go into IE6/IE7's "Tools/Internet Options/Content/AutoComplete/Settings" and UNcheck everything. Next, in IE6 you click on "Clear Forms" and "Clear Passwords" in the same window. In IE7 you have to go back to the General tab to "Delete Forms" and "Delete Passwords". I've done all this, even rebooted, but the user names and passwords persist. Back when it all worked, the first time I accessed my router after a cleaning I would get that dialog box telling me "Windows can remember blah blah blah". I NEVER see that any more. It just remembers. Someone suggested going in to "Control Panel/User Accounts/Manage my network passwords" and deleting any entries there. It's completely blank with no entries at all. I'm stumped. Where is this information being stored? In pre-XP days, I would delete the .PWL file. Most people posting here seem to have the opposite problem - their stored logins were wiped and they want them back. I want mine to go away! Help!
  7. Updating from 2.03.532 to 2.04.543 produces three issues - on two different machines. Never experienced problems before now. No one else seems to have encountered these issues. They are ALL completely reproducible (Ghost backups done prior to update on both machines). Machine 1: lowly Pentium laptop, 128MB RAM, WinXP Pro SP2, IE6, AVG Antivirus Machine 2: Pentium 4, 1GB RAM, WinXP Pro SP2, IE7, NIS 2007 Issue One: Slow Startup CCleaner set to autorun on startup (/AUTO) - and now takes FOREVER to finish. The new little animated "C" icon displays and there is constant drive access for about 2-3 minutes. Machine is really sluggish until it finishes. Happens on every boot, time after time. Never happened before. Issue Two: Shockwave Message After the update, on the next boot, a window pops up about some Shockwave player update - Get It or Remind Me Later. Latest Shockwave products already installed, nothing has changed except CCleaner was updated. Can't find any "update" or "reminder" app in Startup Control Panel 2.8 (Mike Lin) - where is this coming from? Tried "Get It" and it downloaded and installed something - tried "Remind Me Later" and it went away. Issue Three: AVG Antivirus Alert Only on the laptop, CCleaner totally detaches AVG Antivirus from the Windows Security Center - which then complains "no virus protection installed". AVG Antivirus is still running just fine. Temporary Solution: manually restart the Windows Management Instrumentation service and all is well. Problem returns on next bootup. Uninstalling/reinstalling AVG (or CCleaner) makes no difference. Even tried some convoluted Windows Recover Console command to reset the %systemroot% variable. Nada. I'm back to CCleaner 2.03.532 on both systems and will watch for further input. Thanks!
