Winapp2.ini additions

Winapp2.ini

Recommended Posts

I have the latest versions of QuickTime and iTunes on my system (Win 8.1 64-bit). I am not seeing any issue after removing the left over empty installer folders.

You are right! The latest version (QT 7.7.6) does not show this issue anymore. Great! :) Thanks for the hint.

Added FileKey 6 and 7. I wasn't sure which those entries belong, so I just threw them with the browser cache. Is there anyway we can just combine all the steam cache sections into one, rather then having 3 seperate. I do think it will harm anything. Also, I do not know if those 2 FileKey's are the same for everyone, but those are just cache files I found at those locations. Someone should investigate to see if those apply to everyone or if they are different for everyone.

@qsdewa: No, they haven't used that path for a very long time now. I think the first versions of steam did, but not sure.

Off the top of my head I don't know what that entry is, other than the obvious (some sort of message cache), but your entry needs a wildcard as the number in the path seems to be different on different systems (and I only have one folder, holding just 13k).

And regarding merging entries, I certainly think the cache entries can/should be.

 I think we should merge [snagit 12 Local Dumps*] into [snagit 12 More*].
Likely that they were split because not everybody considers crashdumps to be junk (including me)

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

I'm using this program since version 9, I never saw any crashdumps of this program.

Anyways, if you guys like to keep the entries separate then fix the names of the crashdumps entries.

Here are the fixed entries:

Changed the name from [snagit 11 Local Dumps (.dmp)*].

[snagit 11 Local Dumps*]
LangSecRef=3024
Detect=HKCU\Software\TechSmith\SnagIt\11
Default=False
FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\TechSmith\Snagit\CrashDumps|*.*

Changed the name from [snagit 12 Local Dumps *].
There was space before the asterisk.

Default=False
Warning=This will delete the backups of the captures that you have performed with SnagIt 11.

I just searched the Winapp2.ini file and there are more than 200 crash dump/reports entries that are mixed with other stuff. Those crash dump/reports files are being wiped without the user's consent. You should also fix them.

Off course not everybody considers crash dumps/reports to be junk (including you)!

No because it then interferes with the chrome entry. That's why all the add-on entries who've a version in both browsers are listed as such

How about just [Adblock Edge Backups (Firefox)*] for entries that duplicate in different browsers? Puts the important bit of the name first, browser clarification second. Looks a little less clumsy in my opinion (unless you consider brackets clumsy looking, in which case you'll hate this part of my post too :P )

@dvdband: Those entries are different, but it would be a good idea to just combine them.

different but the entry [Firefox Logs*] will delete all *.log file inside Mozilla folder recursely which include subfolder too

why need another entry when [Firefox Logs*] already delete it?

correct me if i'm wrong

I reported an issue that CCleaner was wiping out Adblock Plus settings. Please look at the link below.

http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=42263&hl=

Actually, two entries in Winaap2.ini were causing the issue. I have fixed the entries.

Revised Entries

Excluded .idb, CURRENT and LOG from this entry. Changed REMOVESELF to RECURSE
