I use Windows Live products. Anyone know if it's safe to delete:

%LocalAppData%\Windows Live\.cache|*.*

?? If so I can remove 34 items totaling 136 MBs...

The best way to check is to temporarily rename the folder (with all live apps killed) and see if all live products survive running afterwards. if the folder recreates on the first product you're pretty safe, but I'd still suggest test all the live software to be sure.

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

Not a bad thought, could you start a suggestion thread with that (it's not a winapp2 entry so there's no way to do that from here).

I wrote:

%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Windows Live\.cache

Is it safe to remove the files in this folder?  What are the positives and the drawbacks please?

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Windows Live\.cache

Mine has 34 files totaling 136 MBs....

I use Live Messenger, and Live Mail....

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

to Microsoft Answers and got this back:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

That hidden folder contains the installers for all of the elements of older installations of the Windows (Live) Essentials suite. Later installations put these files at

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Windows Live\.cache

instead, so if you find a similar collection of folders and files there, you can safely delete the ones in the user profile.

If you completely remove the installer files for any of the programs, you'll probably not be able to repair or uninstall them easily.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

And I guess there is no way to test for the existence of both folders in CCleaner?

A dummy cleaner that is used for detection purposes only but deletes nothing may be a workaround - although I've never tried that before.

I am not sure what you mean, in my case.  I'd be interested in a sample please - when you or someone else has time....

I've tried this and it works, it only shows the entry in CCleaner but does absolutely nothing:

so then something like this:

Warning=This will remove Cache files for old installs of Windows Live - use with caution

DetectFile=%CommonProgramFiles%\Windows Live|.cache

Default=False

FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Windows Live\.cache|*.*|RECURSE

OpenDNS told me lies.

When the site was down and I PINGed I got a positive response,

but looking closer the response did NOT come from forum.piriform.com

instead OpenDNS substituted its own Adserver site.

That ticked me of and I no longer use them

Not quite sure what it's got to do with this topic, BUT OpenDNS don't serve ads any more

Also, during my process of reviewing some of the warning, I stumbled across this entry:

[scribe (Finished Jobs)*]

LangSecRef=3021

Detect=HKCU\Software\NCH Software\Scribe

Warning=This will copies of files related you have run through Scribe.

FileKey1=%AppData%\NCH Software\Scribe\Done|*.*

The warning makes no sense. Does anyone know what it is suppose to be saying and could edit it for me?

missing Default=False too

Sorry. Bleachbit, by default, is default-false and it removed the default=false parts off winapp2 to help save space. I must have forgotten to readd those there.

EDIT: I edited my entries and fixed those.

I found the ACE file on my computer (in a different dir) but I can't really say these are junk, since I don't know their purpose.

I don't think the AMD one should be touched. I can't seem to find the .mp4 file on my system at all and judging where the location of the .wmv file is, I would say it is risky.

I don't know about the Sprint logs since I don't use that.
