    Need advice

Unless you a going to physically visit each store to buy the parts it may work out cheaper to order from the one place (depending on shipping costs from multiple online retailers) $1286 USD seems a lot for a PC that doesn't include a monitor in the price so, it may also be worth finding a local pc forum like PC MAG http://e-pcmag.gr/ (I'm assuming you are in/around Greece seeing you are shopping at .gr domains) to get better bang for buck recommendations. On to the parts (not relating to price): *LianLi are ok for a light cheap case, you may want to see one in store (if possible) to ensure you are happy with it. *as for the power supply it's better to go a known brand like Antec or Thermaltake (it should have some good weight to it) *Are you set on AMD as I'm sure the Intel's i5's and i7's are out performing them. *HDD is ok (depends on bang for buck) *As for ram if you are overclocking get a good name brand, if not get the cheapest you can and if you are getting Vista 64bit or Win 7 64bit you might as well have 4GB of ram. (as two seperate 2GB stick in Dual Channel combo) *Depending on the price difference look at the 5870 but be careful you have enough room in your chosen case and space between ports on the motherboard, as these can get BIG (I have the 4870 its phat and long) *Again it would be worth checking and posting at the local pcmag forum and a dedicated hardware forum like: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/forum-31.html [ I'm sure the others here would like a chance to help as well tho' ]
  2. and don't forget paint.net http://www.getpaint.net/index.html
  3. Just because you trust CCeaners cleaning ability and/or your ability to recover from a mishap, that doesn't entitle you to be rude and insulting to a fellow forum member offering a helpful warning.
  4. Just an FYI; It was my Bios settings, was set to auto, which for some reason was defaulting to 333MHz,manually changed that to 400MHz now speccy shows the same so defiantly not a speccy bug
  5. well if you include unlocker as an extension/addon then I've tried some...
  6. they are perfectly safe, they give you a bigger screenshot and a list of what changes it makes to computers.

    Bump Keys

W0W sooooo old And no I've never tried, I've tried and failed our own locks with hair pins lol and to stay on topic someone figured out a pattern for getting through a cars 'number code" based keyless entry via brute force (3129 keypresses) , lol and with breaking in to anything I recommend only doing it on your own house/vehicle. otherwise, enjoy prison lol. http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1520430
  8. I hate ask.com as much as the next guy but if its optional i'm happy to ignore it. Otherwise why do you use ccleaner and recuva when they have yahoo toolbar preselected? Double Standards much?
  9. Good point I think for once someone actually means windows explorer.... anyway IE7Pro wasn't too bad, but not good enough to give up firefox
  10. Only one I use to use was http://www.iespell.com/
  11. "line breaks" won't affect your AV, they are basically extra 'enter key' presses that outlook removes to make it a little more readable. As long as you take note of which options you change, if they done have the desired effect you can always go back and change it again. :::: Some useful ideas here to try: http://www.msoutlook.info/?s=plain+text :::: This one mentions "plain text" may be set via the ISP, unlikely as it is, do you have webmail access to your email address? Usually just go to your ISP's home page and find a webmail link, with outlook closed wait for a HTML email to arrive see if those email show images and hyperlinks. [you may want to try this last as it involves waiting or sending yourself one (not from your outlook as it may set it to plain text when you send)] :::: Also it seems addons (especially AV addons) can cause unusual outlook issues, so open Kaspersky and try disabling all email scanning, If you have Kaspersky antispam disable that as well, close and reopen outlook (see if that has affected it). if that fixes it you may can contact Kaspersky supoport to get it working properly.
  12. You'd think so but its probably a good idea to call the bank and maybe the dealer to get more details/confirm, but a lawyer idea will help if it's real (and may be still if its not real.... compensation... lol )
  13. I think Andavari touched on this... If you open a jpeg and file "save as" it may/will drop bytes again (I think it's because a save as will run the compression again). So as you've been doing, only use the windows copy menu/command if you need a copy of the file and don't need a different file type/resolution. After I posted that I thought I got the gif one was incorrect (had read something on it ages ago), But my break (at work) was over so couldn't double check my info before finalizing my post, too late to save face now lol ::: And just to confuse the OP further, You can get some good quality jpg's and they are large files, most wallpapers are offered as jpg's and don't always look compressed. Either way the file will not loose quality over time, it will only lose quality after being saved at a lower quality or if the program compresses it when saving it (not all programs give you a quality/compression option when saving). Moral of the story: 1. Always keep an original copy (A bit of an oxymoron lol) of the file. 2. Make another copy of that as the one you want to do the edits on. :: Feel free to correct/clarify any of my info, ::
  14. So, as you can see from the info above, A file will only loose quality after it is saved as a lower quality file type (lossy) jpg/gif. The jpg/gif file wont look any better/worse than when you last saved it even if you let it sit there for 10 years. (tho' if your hard drive dies that could be an issue)
  15. What about this Microsoft kb: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831607 Found this via a similar thread here: http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-6230-0.ht...136&start=0
  16. Mr G already knows, but since manually I updated to the latest drivers instead of using the Windows 7 detected drivers for my ATI 4870, I've been having the same isssue. just run a speccy.exe /debug and post a link/attach your logfile.
  17. While yes it's likely its used for research the speed test sites (the ones mentioned here) don't ask for your contact details so except via their targeted site advertising you won't be called or emailed regarding an offer (and I run an adblock extension so don't see them either). And back on topic, speed test are interesting and useful to gauge speeds provided by your isp (if you choose a local site to test with). as here in australia, I can get great speeds to my isp and to other local hosted sites, but if I do a speed test (speedtest.net) and pick an overseas isp, which most sites will be, the speed could be very different. So that actual speed you feel while browsing is affected by so many factors; ADSL speed you signed up for, distance to your exchange, pc speed/stability, other active downloads, the browser you are using, distance (hops) to website host, adsl speed of the host, speed limiting of the host, oh and don't for get wither or not you're shaped.
  18. I'm gonna have to double check my ram as well, mines showing as 2.0 GB Nanya Technology Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 333MHz (5-5-5-15) Its got the tech/brand correct but this is DDR2-800 Ram (aka 400Mhz) on a 1066 capable (aka 533mhz) motherboard (4core 1600 Twins P35 - also detected correctly).. note: clicking Ram to show both slots it shows them both as 400MHz capable.... Have to make some time to check the bios ram settings, if its really running at 333MHZ that's rather a slow down.

    Print Option

+1 along with extra save filetypes a direct print option would be good.
  20. ha haa, the page is now "under construction" and redirects to the iobit home page. Their latest declaration (along with a re-release of the freeware version of 360) admits not all the definitions were theirs but still doesn't quite take the blame. http://blog.iobit.com/archives/122.html
