    ccleaner on SSD

CCleaner only cleans particular locations (mostly only programs installed on the C: drive) It doesn't "scan" for *.tmp files it has the known temp directories hard coded.
  2. > Ahh crappy "Pandora TV 4HD" ask.com toolbar came down with it, and no I didn't miss unchecking the tickbox (i always keep an eye out for it). 1. it adds the toolbar 2. it sets the serchbox default as ask.com. (even after uninstall it leaves ask.com in the search provider list, thankfully not set as default anymore) It seems to be randomly installing anyway... so be prepared to uninstall a toolbar if you try this. http://www.kmplayer.com/forums/showthread....4989&page=2 note: I'm all happy with optional toolbars even if pre-checked, as long as i Always get an option to uncheck it "before" its installed!
  3. I'm gonna give KM a go as well, I've always been a fan of VLC, so a change may be nice.
  4. No idea where you are getting that from fluff, Unlocker has been a safe clean program for years, and only now does it include a optional shortcuts (Yes I've installed this version and can unselect the shortcuts just fine) MyWOT: http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/ccollomb...comment#comment Only 2 posts complaining about ebay shortcuts "infested with ebay shortcut" lol SiteAdvisor: http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/ccollomb.free.fr/summary/ Only one person posted twice in Site Advisor claiming "Trojan".
  5. Some program's you may get away with installing over the same path (though may be trial and error to find out which ones) Note: If you uninstall a program it wont remove the registry entries from both OS's so may leave a bit of mess if you plan on running both for a while.
  6. Most programs you will have to reinstall, Though some may work fine if you directly execute the exe.
  7. Before paying for any software, use the Spyware Hell section first, as it is all free help and free programs they will get you to run.
  8. This guy is a repetitive spammer and this topic is from 2007 to 2008 revived by said spammer.
  9. Googleing that file location doesn't show any official files that belong there. http://www.google.com.au/search?q=C%3A ...lient=firefox-a The error could be indicating a possible infection or leftover infection/spwyare registry entries. You may want to make a post in the spy-ware hell section of the forum to ensure you are clean and they will advise where to go from here.
  10. Just like with flash drives (aka usb sticks) there isn't really any point and may cause additional un-necessary wear on the drive. A good forum post/debate here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/246283-32-defrag

  12. Haven't tried it yet, but it's a good idea. And for anyone that worried, it's clean : http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/afad2ec...8053-1256222641
  13. Duped, There are many users of ccleaner who, like me, have never had ccleaner do this to a system (I have run it on many). Which means this is 99.99999999999999% unlikely to be CCleaners fault or any malicious design in ccleaner. This is more likely to do with a virus or hacker related situation. Configuring your computer to deny you access is not something ccleaner can set up. 1. Try running in safe mode, log in as administrator, and try merging the registry backup again, also try using system restore. 2. If you need to back files up, boot off a Unix or BartPE cd/dvd and backup important files to a CD or USB stick or even another hard drive. 3. Then go through and run the steps in the "Spyware Hell" section of the forum (linked to by Andavari) 4. Don't restore any backup files till you have fully scanned them for infection. Stop jumping off the deep end and blaming ccleaner for your woe's, there are many experienced people here happy to help if you, if keep as calm as possible.
  14. don't forget this version of the "MJ" ghost with extra footage.... http://www.kensavage.com/archives/michael-...on-ghost-video/ and... (comic relief) http://www.vincentchow.net/795/saddam-hussein-is-alive
  15. Some of the higher end Uniden ones are good.
  16. I've added it to stumble upon (http://www.stumbleupon.com/) for you. You will get some extra random visitors now.
  17. I'd suggest being able to "Right Click" / "Export to txt" in the CCleaner / Tools / Startup section as well Thought it was already there but noticed it wasn't, could be handy at times.
  18. OK, a question, where are you seeing "ccleaner.exe" and "uninstall" in the startup list? A screenshot would be handy for the devs to better under stand your issue, and type the complete directory from in the "File" heading in ccleaner. "Uninstall" shouldn't be in Start / All Programs / Startup , as what program would want to uninstall itself every restart of the PC.. And if ccleaner "stops working" after you notice this you may want to make a post in the spyware hell section of the forum, as there are known programs that disable ccleaner and other security apps.
  19. Ident, if you use the correct program you can 'unzip' a setup.exe file. Which is where I believe BrownSugar found the dll file. Not sure where or if it is extracted.
  20. CCleaner does not "store" cookies it just reads and displays the list, so the OP suggestion could be done, I don't think CCleaner needs it but thats up to the devs.
  21. If you have been keeping the CC backups, they should be saved to "Documents" one by one latest one first, remerge it back to the registry. If that does not fix the issue it is unlikely a CC problem, try doing a system restore.
