  1. It's part of CefSharp and/or AOL Desktop Gold, and is often used with Razer products and some games,. Including Facebook games, so you've probably got it from FB. https://www.file.net/process/cefsharp.browsersubprocess.exe.html PS. Are your logins/passwords saved to Firefox? If so then it's a good idea to export a copy of your saved passwords from Firefox to a text file, just in case something/anything ever goes wrong. It's also handy if you want to transfer them to another machine. The exported file is plaintext so keep it safe from prying eyes. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/mozilla-firefox-to-let-you-export-saved-passwords-in-plain-text/
  2. As it's Facebook you should be able to easily recover them from the Facebook archive. See this for how to do that: https://techboomers.com/recover-deleted-facebook-photos
  3. Err, please read the date of the last post before replying to a thread. Software changes quickly these days.
  4. Are you actually using Custom Clean? Or are you using Health Check? Changing the settings in Custom Clean will not change what Health Check cleans.
  5. Well I suppose the quick fix would be to use a different adblocker, or a different browser? As nobody else is reporting this particular issue it seem specific to your machine, so you might want to consider the next step of repairing/reinstalling your Edge. You can download a fresh copy to install from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge You should install over the top of the existing one, ie. no need to uninstall first. Doing it that way your browsing history, cookies, and settings will be restored once you complete the reinstall process. So, you can reinstall Edge without losing data.
  6. If either of those is enabled then Windows will put a CCleaner icon in your System Tray.
  7. Health Check does it's own thing, including software updating in Pro, and you can't change it, The best way to stop having to uncheck them each time is to use Custom Clean instead of Health Check. Another way is to go offline before running Health Check. If it can't connect to the web it can't download/update anything. But again you have to remember to do that each time. Or you could only use CCleaner Free version, which can search for but can't apply software updates. Custom Clean just cleans and doesn't check for software updates or startup items. (There are seperate tools for those in the 'Tools' section). To set Custom Clean as the default that CCleaner will use when you open it: Options>Settings>CCleaner Home Screen.
  8. You have shown 'Advanced' and 'Settings' - Nergal asked specifically about 'Smart Cleaning' and 'Updates'. If either 'Smart Cleaning' or 'Updates' (Keep CCleaner updated automatically) is enabled then Windows will put a CCleaner icon in your system tray.
  9. Just to note that Piriform/CCleaner is a UK based company. Although I do belive that 'qualified' Americans are employed - just like others around the world are also 'qualified'. It's a global economy these days.
  10. I'm not sure why that old post fell throught the cracks and didn't get an answer? Something EriK didn't mention in that old post was 'Other Explorer Mru's, and 'Taskbar Jump lists'. See this for more about Custom Clean's settings for clearing Windows Explorer: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360047807132-Windows-Explorer-cleaning-rules#what-are-cleaning-rules--0-2 If you could give more details of where you want to see recent files then we should be able to point to which particular Custom Clean setting removes them from there. Note that if you Use Health Check it uses it's own rules that you can't change, the options ONLY apply to Custom Clean.
  11. The licence merging robot runs automatically twice a day, so it may take a little while to show up that the remaining time has been added to the new licence. There two exceptions to it happening automatically though: If you used a different email address when purchasing the new licence, or If you had more than 90 days left on the old licence. In either of those cases it is assumed you wanted another licence, so they aren't automatically merged and if you do want that you have to ask support to do it manually. If it doesn't happen automatically by tomorrow then email support@ccleaner.com and ask them to merge the two licences.
  12. Good to hear you got it working fairly easily. Usually you can just install the new CCleaner version over the top and it will sort things out. But as you found sometimes an uninstall and reinstall is needed. (I'm guessing that the Windows tTask for Smart Cleaner had got corrupted somehow, so it needed to be removed by the uninstall before a new Task was put in place).
  13. Newer SSD's have a longer 'write life' than the early ones, technology improves. But it's still reducing that life if you defrag them frequently. SSD's don't (usually) need defragmenting anyway, they have internal controls to organise the data on them to get the best life from the drive. (Trim, garbage collection, and wear leveling, they are all done automatically by the SSD itself). If by some chance an SSD could benefit from a defragment then Windows will recognise that and do it automatically. So the advice is to leave SSD's alone and let them look after themselves.
  14. Not sure, I have noticed a few users having similar issues with Chrome and Chromium based browsers this last week or so, but it's not happening for everyone. Whether that's down to something changing in the browsers, or in CCleaner itself, I don't know. I would have thought that if it was CCleaner then it would be affecting everyone using Chrome/Chromium and not just a few, so I suspect that it's something in the browsers that has changed if you have certain browser settings.
  15. Which browser are we talking about here? It may be staying open (or something in it, say an extension or add-on, staying open) in the background when you are closing it. So CCleaner may be seeing it as still open.
  16. That's fair enough, I was just pointing out why our screenshots above were showing different things for the Free version on our respective machines.

It should happen automatically. But it happens twice a day so allow it some time to add it. If it still is not showing tomorrow then email support@ccleaner.com and they will do it manually.
  18. That is normal behaviour for a computer. (The 512Kb indicates that it's a small file, or possibly an empty file created by Windows for future use). See the second part of this for an explanation of what such files are, why some files always come back straight after cleaning, and what you can do to stop some of it: PS. CCleaner itself puts a couple of temporary files in IE's storage when you open it, and then cleans them. So you will always see files in there after opening CCleaner.
  19. Gmail and your Google account are tied together, when you are logged into one it logs you into the other.
  20. Could you explain exactly what you are trying to do and what settings you are using in the Duplicate Finder? (ie. what you have set in the 'Search fors' and what you have set in the 'Ignores', plus any custom paths that you have set). A screenshot of your settings usually helps. We have to know what you are doing to be able to offer any meaningful help.
  21. Chrome not closing can be a problem. Mostly it's because you have it set to let things keep running in the background. That can include gmail, youtube, and the like, Sometimes its because Chrome itself has changed what it does, and so apps like CCleaner then have to play catch up. If when CCleaner says it needs to close Chrome you don't do that but instead take a look in Windows Task Manager you should be able to spot what is keeping Chrome running.
  22. If you used the same email address when purchasing then the time left on the old licence will get added to the new one. It just takes a little while for that to happen, the robot that does it usually runs twice a day. If you used a different email then it won't happen automatically, but if you email support@ccleaner.com they will merge the 2 licences for you so that the extra gets added on.
  23. I've noticed myself recently that Firefox can persist for a while after closing. I use my own cleaning file for Firefox and it sometimes throws errors if I don't wait a bit after closing Firefox, usually because one of 'cookies.sqlite' or 'webappsstore.sqlite' is still open. It seems that Firefox is sometimes taking longer to close than it used to, which could explain why Smart Cleaning is sometimes missing bits out for you. (Maybe it now needs a bit (more) of a delay before Smart Cleaning fires up?). Running CCleaner manually gives Firefox that bit of extra time to fully close. I'm not sure if you can get logs from Smart Cleaning. You can get a log from CCleaner if you use the 'Run' command in Windows. Open your start menu and type 'Run' to bring it up. Then type in the following and click OK (You may have to change the pathname on your setup). "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe" /debug When you close CCleaner there will be a new logfile in that directory showing what CCleaner has done. For more info see this: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048363751-Running-CCleaner-for-Windows-in-debug-mode#view-ccleaner-s-activities-in-detail-to-help-with-troubleshooting--0-1 Of course you could simply set Firefox to clean itself up when you close it? Settings>Privacy & Security. Then 'Cookies & Site Data' - You can also manage the current data and set exceptions there. Don't forget 'History' a bit lower down that page.
  24. It it hasn't messed up your machine then I'd say not. CCleaners Driver Updater is (fairly) new, Win 11 is (fairly) new, things are going to be out of whack. I'd just leave the Driver Updater alone.
  25. Whoever gets there first and helps a user is what the user wants. 2 replies from different people saying the same thing is probably a good indication of what the problem may be,
