  1. Something to know is that the term PUA stands for 'Potentialy Unwanted Application'. The thing that you should take note of there is the word- Potentially. (It means 'might be'). That is someones personal opinion that they might not want that app - but whether it is 'Unwanted' or not is up to you not them. Occasionally someone decides to try and force their personal opinion on others, even some Microsoft employees do it now and again. (They should know better and get pulled up when they do). But it's your choice if something is unwanted or not. Some people want things, other people don't want them. So: Updating your driver(s) caused you a problem, that is not unknown. (And sometimes not unusual). Updating Drivers can result is problems, but that is because the updated driver is not the right one for your machine. (Personally I would not use any Driver Updater, I would decide first if it needs to be updated and if it does then update it myself - but again that is my choice). PUA's (and PUM's - Potentialy Unwanted Modifications) should be treated as just alerts/warnings from your security app that you may want to take a closer look at what something may be doing. It's then up to you to decide if you want to keep using it or not. Millions of people around the world use CCleaner, they don't consider it a 'Unwanted' Application. Some do consider it unwanted, but they shouldn't be trying to force that opinion on everyone else. (As an example Facebook is unwanted by me, but I wouldn't try to tell anybody else that they shouldn't use it. That's their choice if they want it or not). Now having said all that: The 'PiriformBundler' that is being objected to is not in CCleaner itself. It is a component of the Standard Installer for CCleaner, (CCsetup###.exe) and it will only run when you install CCleaner from the Standard Installer. It is the page that comes up offering an additional software. That page has very big 'Decline' and 'Accept' buttons. It will only run, and you will only see it, when you are installing CCleaner.

    Windows 11 ?

I think that @crizalits the nail on the head. Stay with Win10 unless you want to play about. Win11 has been released too early. Microsoft, and others, seem to have pushed beta-testing out onto users as a policy. (Looks good on accountants balance sheets, but it costs more in the long run).
  3. Sorry but that is still not clear. Can you explain exactly what you are wanting to do?
  4. It's a bit unusual being a context menu entry put there by a browser extension rather than by an app. I'm not sure just how the extension is doing that, and it may be putting something where you wouldn't expect it to be. As you say that excluding Chrome from Custom Clean stops it happening then I would test which particular component of the Chrome cleaning is removing it. To do that re-enable cleaning of Chrome and tick all the boxes. Make sure Chrome is closed then in Custom Clean right-click on the first Chrome component and clean just that one from the context menu (ie. Dont run a full clean), fire up Chrome and check to see if the context menu item is still there or not, if it is then close Chrome and in Custom Clean right-click/clear the next component. Do them one by one checking Chrome after each until you find the one that is removing the context menu entry. PS. Obviously don't clear your saved passwords -- unless you want to.
  5. Google (and others are just as bad) are in the business of selling your browsing history etc. to advertisers - they don't want you to be able to completely delete it and so they make it pretty hard for you to do so. (Browser and app Syncing was a masterstroke for them; all that lovely sellable information, browsing history and other data, that users are putting on their servers where they can pick through it at their leisure).

    Windows 11 ?

They are still sticking with 'You will need TPM2.0', this is only a temporary workround which they say they will pull later.
  7. That is an unusual one. You say the extension itself is still there and it's the entry on a context menu that dissapears. That makes me think that it's something other than simply Custom Clean clearing Chrome. Something is removing that context menu item, reinstalling the extension puts the menu entry back. I know that you say you only used Custom Clean but: There is a way to remove context menu entries in CCleaner, it's Tools>Startup>Context Menu where you can enable/disable context menu items. Of course you would know if you used that. Now the most likely way to unintentionally remove a context menu item - are you running the Registry Cleaner? Context menu entries are saved in the registry so an item dissapearing from a context menu can happen if you remove a registry entry. CCleaners Registry Cleaner may well remove a reg entry if it doesn't see it as being linked to an app that you have installed. (Which it won't be if it's for an extension). Reinstalling the extension would recreate the registry entry and put the context menu item back. (Which is all just as you describe happening). If it's neither of those then I may have a few other ideas.
  8. When you log into Gmail it also automatically logs you into Google as well. However I think that your problem with the history coming back in Chrome after cleaning is probably due to having syncing enabled. If you have your browser (or any apps) synced then anything 'synced' that you clean from your computer will be restored by the syncing. That's how syncing works, it saves your data in the cloud and sends it to all your devices from the cloud. CCleaner can clear the data from your computer, but it can't clear data from a cloud server, (they are protected). So to stop that syncing happening and your data, history, etc. coming back you have to use the browser/app to clear the synced information from the cloud, or turn off syncing altogether. PS. You may want to have a read of this explanation of various reasons why some files will come back after cleaning> https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/52668-tracking-files-not-cleaned-files-coming-back-solvedexplained/?tab=comments#comment-300043
  9. I'm not sure why you would be trying to use the CCleaner Browser to uninstall apps? Use CCleaner itself - Tools>Uninstall. (Or use Windows - Settings>Apps )
  10. This PDF opening happens when during the install of CCleaner browser you tell it to associate PDF's (and other filetypes) to open/read by default in CCleaner browser. It's one of the options during the install. If you then uninstall the browser then obviously you can no longer use it to open/read files. Windows doesn't know what you then want to open those files with and so has to ask you. Reassociating the files to open with something else cures the problem. The link that John gave you is fine, but a bit long winded, see this for a quick way to reassociate PDF (and other files) to open with a particular app:
  11. Of course in this case the corrupted bin is E:\$Recycle.bin and not C:\$Recycle.bin - so you should modify that command line accordingly to reset the bin on E:.
  12. If you renew early then the time remaining on the existing subscription is automatically added to the new one, but it can take a while for the updated information to show in CCleaner itself, and in the user subscription/licence manager. (It's usually fairly quick though, hours not days). Although in light of the early renewal I would follow Nergal's advice and contact support who can see all your licence and subscription details. This is an open user forum and so for security we can't see or deal with details of licences here.
  13. @Mathew Firstly to note that this thread is over a year old, both Firefox and CCleaner have changed quite a bit since then. (The main concern on the original thread was with bookmarks which shouldn't be cleared, and you say they are not being cleared so that's as it should be). I'm guessing (I'm almost certain) that you are using Health Check. Health Check is meant to delete your browser history; it will delete the browser history for all your browsers every time that you run Health Check. If you don't want to delete browser history then you have to use Custom Clean instead and untick 'History' for each browser where you want to keep it. Custom Clean will then leave your browser history alone, unless you tick it again. (If you run Health Check it will still clear the browser histories though, the ticks/unticks only apply to Custom Clean). You can set Custom Clean to be your default option by changing Options>Settings>CCleaner Home Screen. See here for a bit more informationon the difference between Health Check and Custom Clean when it comes to cleaning browser history: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/61168-firefox-history-sometimes-disappears-in-health-check/?tab=comments#comment-331797
  14. If you renew early, and there are less than 90 days left on the old license, the remaining time is automatically added to the new license, but it may take a while to show in CCleaner itself. or in the subscription manager. We are told that it usually takes around 15 hours, but can be up to a week sometimes two. However in your case it looks like you did have more than 90 days remaining on the old licence. If there were more than 90 days left on the old license, you must contact support to get the additional time added manually.
  16. I'm not sure what you are meaning by 'the end of your comment'? If you mean the screenshots of Health Check skipping messages for an open browser then that applies to Health Check in both Free and Pro versions; it makes no difference which you have. Leave your browser open and try running Health Check to see them for yourself. But in general you have got the way that Health Check and Custom Clean are different. Health Check does what it does and can't be changed. Custom Clean is the thing to use when you want to change things and have more control.
  17. TBH my Samasung (from 2013) is older than that and is nowhere near that full. It does slow down now and again and I clear out the applications caches myself, then power off and power on to restart it. Some newer apps won't install and I've also had apps that stopped working, because my Android version is now too old for the app updates. But I guess we use or phones in different ways. Besides calls/texts I mostly use it for browsing, with Firefox. I don't use social media apps, and I always use the Task Manager to fully close any apps after use. A factory reset would put your phone back to how it was when it left the factory and so remove all those apps you (or your phones provider) have added, freeing up space in the RAM. Take the SD card out before factory resetting, after saving any photos etc. to it first because they will go from the internal memory as well. After a factory reset you'd have to reinstall the apps you realy want - if the latest versions will still install on old Android. Of course if you put all the same apps back then your space problems are likely to come back again. So as they suggested, it's a good excuse to get yourself a shiny new phone with up to date Android. I'd also suggest that you get the most RAM and internal storage that you can afford. I could probably do with a new phone too, but as long as it's working fine for what I want then it's difficult to justify the cost.
  18. No, it's not a bug. It is the way that the two different cleaning methods are supposed to work. If they worked the same way then there would only need to be the one. Health Check uses it's own Cleaning Rules which you cannot change, it is meant as a quick option for those who don't want to be bothered with changing settings. You can tell Health Check not to clean something in particular, (by clicking on a section and unticking what it has found to clean), but have to do that every time you use it. Health Check does not save any settings, it always uses it's own rules. Custom Clean gives you more control of what get cleaned or not by ticking and unticking the categories. (And even more control by making Includes and Excludes and/or by adding the user add-on 'winapp2.ini' to give extra cleaning categories). Custom Clean remembers what you have ticked/unticked. Those ticks/unticks only apply to Custom Clean. So if you don't want your browser history cleared then you have to use Custom Clean and not Health Check. (or manualy deselect it after each and every Health Check scan). I'm not sure why you say that Health Check is sometimes not removing the browser history, it should clear it every time that you run Health Check. Unless the browser is open, in which case you should get an option to close the browser, or 'skip' cleaning it by unticking the blue tickbox.
  19. See the following guide: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/204043844-How-to-register-and-activate-CCleaner-Professional Error 12029 is a Windows error that can have a few different causes, but it is usually a server connection error, you may want to check that your firewall (antivirus) is not blocking the connection to the licencing server. If you are still having issues then please contact support by email at support@ccleaner.com
  20. That could explain it. I think that you need to talk to your university IT department about scheduled tasks, or as you say do your cleaning manually. However if it's just browser history that you are wanting to clean then CCleaner's Smart Cleaning will do that automatically for you when the browser is closed without any scheduling being needed. There are various options for how Smart Ceaning will clean a browser on closing, you can set them differently for each browser: Note that as it says there Smart Cleaning uses the Custom Clean settings, whatever you have set for a particular browser in Custom Clean is what will be cleaned for that browser. PS. If/when you enable Smart Cleaning it will put a CCleaner icon in your System Tray near the clock, that icon will flash when you close a browser as it cleans the files, but it may be so quick that you don't notice the flashing.
  21. I just tested this and mine will let me set a start date in the past without any problem, in fact I used the exact same settings as jflatto. However 2 things I do note - mine is 24 hour format not AM/PM, and mine has inserted zero's before the day and month not spaces. Which is most likely our different Windows setting and brings the next point: @jflatto I notice from your screenshot that you have Win 10 Enterprise edition. We have in the past seen some odd errors with users running CCleaner home version on Windows 10 Enterprise edition. Enterprise edition is for medium/large businesses/organisations. It is supposedly only available through Microsoft's Volume Licensing Programme and not normally available for individuals. (You can buy an Enterprise license as an individual, but it's costly and Pro would be a better option because the extras with enterprise would be of no use to an individual). Is this a works computer? Can you schedule any other tasks in Windows Task Sceduler? It may be that your user profile on Enterprise is not allowed to schedule tasks, that would be so the company IT department has control of them. CCleaner home version would not have a specific error message for that, so may be showing the nearest that it has.
  22. Some Windows files will always come back straight after cleaning, but they will now be empty with all the junk removed from inside them. CCleaner doesn't know if they are empty or not, so finds them to clean again. (You don't have to do a restart, the files come back anyway). You could also be seeing files that are 'synced' by your Chrome, so will come back from the cloud if/when you delete them from your computer. For more details of why this happens and what you can do to prevent (some of) it, see this: (Click the title in bold). See in particular "Files and 'Trackers' that re-appear straight after cleaning"
  23. You can use Tools>Software Updater instead, it does the same job and gives more information and control of what you update or not than the one in Health Check. Personally I would not touch any Driver Updater with a bargepole, not even CCleaners. But that's my preference, others seem to like it, although some have had issues with it. You might want to take a look at the Driver Updater sub-forum: https://community.ccleaner.com/forum/46-driver-updater/
