  1. Thanks for the feedback. I've never used the Driver Updater myself, so never had to use the recovery option, but from the support article I think the tickboxes should be there? That may depend on if you have the latest CC version installed? @Dave CCleaner any insight on this further than what it says in the FAQ article?
  2. As it says in your screenshot "Select any driver to revert it to a previous condition" - you have to first select a driver(s) for restoration before the button becomes active. There should be a tickbox to the left of each driver name. See this article for more info on reverting drivers if something has gone wrong with a driver update: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402564268429-I-m-having-a-problem-with-Driver-Updater-What-are-my-options-#updating-drivers-with-driver-updater-0-2 From that article:
  3. @EP211I have split this into it's own thread, so it can be more easily found by anyone else looking for how to uninstall Kamo. Like many (security) apps (antivirus, antiramsomware, etc.) that protect themselves from malware, Kamo cannot be uninstalled in the normal way from Windows. You don't want them to be easily uninstalled by bad guys. So you have to uninstall those apps using a tool from the developers of the software. In the case of Kamo you use the Kamo setup file to uninstall it (I agree that info could be easier to find); see here: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048784691-Troubleshooting-when-Kamo-cannot-detect-tracking-activity
  4. Inernet Explorer is (still) an integral part of Windows, and many applications other than the IE browser itself use it's storage spaces. It has become a convinent place for other applications to put temporary files. So even if you never use the Internet Explorer browser it's storage spaces still need cleaning. Because of that CCleaner still lists it and still cleans whatever may be stored in there by any application. (CCleaner itself put 3 files in there everytime that you open it, and then cleans them out again when you tell it to clean).
  5. As you say who knows just what caused the problem for you, but good to hear it was fairly easily sorted out by using the Slim installer. I'm guessing something glitched during the automatic update and left things in limbo until you did a re-install with the Slim installer. It probably won't ever happen to you again. As for the different installers: The CCleaner that gets installed is exactly the same; it's the installers themselves which are different. The Standard installer contains a bundled offer for other products which you can accept or decline, it connects to another server to show that offer. Some AV's object to that extra connection and so block the install altogether. Some AV's are erratic about if they block it or not. Although you wouldn't normally get the offer anyway on an automatic update, or from a 'Check for Updates', you should only see it if you are installing manually The Slim installer is intended for technicians and advanced users, it works slightly differently (and doesn't include any offer), so it doesn't try to connect to another server. Because it works slightly differently we often suggest trying it when people are having problems the Standard installer. You might want to bookmark that 'Builds' page for future use? TBH using the Standard installer while not connected to the internet achieves the same thing, in that case it knows there is no internet so doesn't try to show the offer. One other thing; but as you have Malwarebytes I'm positive this wasn't your issue. Certain AV's are notoriously slow to update and so will block a new CCleaner version from running for a few days after it is released, once the AV gets an update it recognises the new CCleaner and stops blocking it. (We saw quite a bit of that when some AVs were being even slower to update as people worked at home during covid).
  6. TBH Willy it is only you that is reporting it. I'm not sure if that's because it's specific to your particular (email) setup? or if maybe others see it but aren't bothered by it. (It's easy enough to delete an extra email).
  7. Normally that is a sign that your anivirus is stopping CCleaner from running. (It will often run the first time from the installer but then not again as the AV blocks it). But I've never known Malwarebytes to block CCleaner. Just to double check, you are not running Malwarebytes side-by-side with another AV? It is interesting that you say that you can download/install from the bundle site but not from elsewhere. This may have already been suggested by support, but try downloading the 'Slim' installer from here (3rd one down) and see if that will install and run. https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds Of even more interest is that you say this started 5 days ago, which is the day that the update to CCleaner v5.85 was released. Can you remember if you had Automatic Updates turned on in CCleaners Options>Updates? We haven't had any other reports here of such problems with v5.85, but all computers are different and someone has to be first to report something odd. To see if it is the 5.85 update causing your issue you could roll back and try reinstalling v5.84. I'd do the install while not connected to the internet, so that it doesn't automatically update itself to v5.85 again. If v5.84 installs and runs offline then turn off automatic updating before reconnecting to the internet and checking that it still runs when connected. You can download the v5.84 installer here: https://download.ccleaner.com/ccsetup584.exe If 5.84 runs for you but 5.85 doesn't then do come back and let us know, the developers will be interested in finding out why.
  8. On the contrary, if the problem stops when you stop using the VPN then it is clearly the VPN causing the problem by blocking the needed connection(s). If you can't drive your car down a road because of a barrier you blame the barrier not the car. Remove the barrier (turn off the VPN) and you can get through.
  9. To be considered a duplicate the files must match on all of the 'Match by' options that you have set. To reduce the list of what is found you should set it to ignore System Files. (That will reduce your huge list). System Files are by far the majority of the duplicates that get found, and those system file duplicates are usually needed by the system to work properly. Removing any system file duplicates could make things start to work oddly or not work at all. You should only ever consider it if you are an advanced user trying to fix a problem with a system. In general you should only be searching for duplicates of your own files, photos, music, etc. - so set it to ignore system files. You can also use the other ignore options to further filter the list of what are found as duplicates. The Duplicate Finder lists all duplicates found within your search criteria, so that you can see the pathname of where each duplicate is. It would not be much use just saying there is a duplicate (or more than one) without telling you where it is located. Only you can decide what you want to do with any duplicates it finds. (and you may want to keep the duplicates). For that reason the tool is a Duplicate Finder and not a Duplicate Remover. PS. If you want to find the number of files on a drive the you can simply use File Explorer. In FE open the drive to show its contents then on the menu click 'Select All'. Right click on one of the selected folders and select Properties. Windows will count the total number of files, and the number of folders, along with the size they all take up, on the drive (it can take some time for Windows to count them all). There are other methods of counting files using a Command Window, or Powershell. https://www.digitalcitizen.life/4-ways-count-number-folders-and-files-inside-folder/ I'm not sure if that is what you are looking for though? For getting statistics of what is on your discs you might want to look at apps such as Wiztree or Windirstat.
  10. Good to hear that your files came back. I've never noticed behaviour like that during a defrag - there again I've never looked. (I usually just set it running on a file defrag and don't do anything else until it's finished). However after a quick test here I'm pretty sure that what you saw was NOT Defraggler. To start with, running on install, many apps have an option to do this when they have finished installing. It's been a while since I installed Defraggler, so to refresh my memory I've just uninstalled and reinstalled Defraggler on this laptop. It did open the user interface once installed, but it did not run automatically. So unless you actually clicked on the 'Analyze' or 'Defrag' buttons after installing then it was not Defraggler that was running on your external drive. I don't know what it was that you saw, but unless you had clicked one of those buttons then I'd say that it wasn't Defraggler. I would strongly suggest that you make a backup of your files to another drive (the current drive may have a fault). As you say that these are 'crucial' then you should already be regularly (daily/weekly) making at least one, and to be safe more than one, backup of them. Keep one backup well away from the computer itself, in a different building or as online storage in the cloud - if there is a fire or other disaster it could destroy any backup kept on site as well as the originals. PS. Being in the Start Menu folder is normal for any/all applications that you have installed, that folder contains shortcuts to where they actually are installed and is there so that they appear on your Start Menu applications list. Defraggler normally installs in "C:\Program Files\Defraggler"
  11. They work well together, as long as the relevant exceptions are put in place. Malwarebytes4 will run happily side-by-side with most other AVs, giving extra protection. https://www.howtogeek.com/230158/how-to-run-malwarebytes-alongside-another-antivirus/
  12. I'm not sure why you think Defraggler has done something to your external drive - especially as you say that you hadn't run Defraggler? (PS. If you had told it to run on installation then it would by default have defragged C: and not an external drive. You'd have to specifically select an external drive to defrag it). The bigger question from what you have said may be did you run CCleaner? In particular did you use the Driver Updater (or the Registry Cleaner)? There are many reasons why files can go 'missing' from an external drive, usually they are still there but Windows just can't see them for some reason. The fact that Windows can still see the drive as a whole, and some folders on it, is an encouraging sign that the drive is working OK and so the files are probably still there. Sometimes just disconnecting and reconnecting the drive is all you need for Windows to see them again. (Tell windows to Eject it before unplugging from USB). I'd work with support as Andrei suggests, but in the meantime use that drive as little as possible. (Just in case the files have been deleted, you have more chance of recovery the less you use the drive).
  13. @BriGuy832 This is a known bug - it's simply the wrong message being shown. (I'm not sure if it has now been fixed in v5.85 released yesterday?). You need to have a CCleaner Pro licence to be able to actually update drivers. If you only have CCleaner Free then the notification should tell you that you need a CCleaner Pro licence to use the Driver Updater, rather than generating that 91613 error.
  14. I'm assuming this is Windows 10? The Registry Cleaner (any registry cleaner) can really mess up Windows 10 if used when not needed. We recommend that you don't regularly use the Registry Cleaner with Windows 10, only use it if you have a specific problem. Windows 10 changes the registry often which can give false results. For the official Piriform advice on using the Registry Cleaner see this: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/59952-i-get-a-registry-error-on-ccleaner-on-windows-10-i-have-scanned-5-times/?tab=comments#comment-326804 Here is Microsofts stance on using any Registry Cleaner: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2563254/microsoft-support-policy-for-the-use-of-registry-cleaning-utilities That's the warnings done; now lets see if we can help fix things for you. If you have damaged the regstry, and can't restore it from a backup, there are a few things you can do to repair Windows. Let's go through them in the order I would use. NOTE than all of these options can take some time to do their thing. Firstly, try using the DISM and SFC commands to repair the system image. (Note that many articles, including the one I link below, say to run SFC first. That's just to save time, its always better to run DISM before SFC if you have the time because SFC uses the files that DISM updates, so doing DISM first takes longer but does make sure SFC is using valid and up to date files). Open an elevated command prompt. (That simply means: Open the Start menu and type "command prompt" when it brings up the command prompt options click on 'Run as administrator'). In the black command prompt window type the following command, (it needs to be exact so maybe copy/paste it), and then press Enter. DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth It will take some time to run, and when finished should report 'The operation completed sucessfully'. Now type the following and press Enter. sfc /scannow Again that will take some time to scan the system files and repair any errors it finds. It will report if it found nothing wrong, or tell you what it has fixed, it may tell you to reboot if it fixed something. Restart your computer (Restart not Shutdown) and see if things are back to normal. If you are still having problems then if you have system Restore Points enabled you can try restoring your computer to a point saved before you used the Registry Cleaner. Open the start menu and type "rstrui.exe" (without the quote marks), click on 'Run as Administrator'. That opens the System Restore dialogue where you can pick a Restore point and return your computer to how it was when that RP was made. It's fairly simple to use just follow the prompts. If none of the above has worked then we are looking at resetting Windows 10 and/or the Startup and Update repairs. I'll not try to go through those step by step here, you can find them (along with what we have already tried above) in this article at options 4, 5,& 6: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/repair-corrupted-damaged-registry-in-windows-10 PS. I won't try using Gogle translate to put all that in Spanish, there is quite a bit there and errors may be made by Google translate.
  15. That's good. Looking at your settings: You have specified to match for duplicates on all 3 of Name, Size, and Date modified. Duplicate Finder will only say files are duplicates if they match on all 3 of those options you have set. The ignore settings are fine, except you may have not realised what one of them is doing - see below. You are searching D: for *.MP3 files (I assume you have set it to search files and subfolders, but please check that). As to why it is not finding anything on a search: First as said above, because you have specified those 3 'match criteria' then 2 or more files will have to have the same names, the same filesizes, and the same modified dates to be found as duplicates. (If just one of the 3 is different then it won't be considered a duplicate). Next I notice that you have 'Ignore' set to ignore files that are smaller than 1 MB in size. For a .mp3 file a size of 1MB is typically about one minute of playback. But the file that you have attached here is 873KB - so it would be ignored by your search because it's under 1 MB. Is that size typical of the mp3 files that you want to search? If so then they are being ignored because of that setting. Try unticking that particular ignore, or setting it to a lower value if there are some smaller files you still want to ignore. (You can set them as 0.# MB sizes there). I also note that you have specified to search for '.MP3' (in uppercase). But the file you have attached here is '.mp3' in lowercase. (To me 'music.MP3' is not an exact name match for 'music.mp3'. - I'm not sure if the Duplicate Finder makes that distinction in upper/lower cases but wouldn't be surprised).
  16. There may be some thing lost in translation, but I'm not sure how you get that it was licence issue from an incomplete thread that was never answered and doesn't say anything about licences? CCleaner doesn't need a licence to run, if there is no valid licence registered then it runs in Free mode. Anyway, so running CCleaner in Debug mode worked, and now it runs fine. That seems odd as all debug mode does differently is to produce a log of what CCleaner is doing. Maybe opening the logfile somehow gave something a shake? or it may have just been a coincidence?
  17. Yes, I thought you were in Belarus. TBH I'm not sure, but it does seem possible that you may be being affected by country sanctions. I have asked the staff here if they can clarify whether CCleaner is currently being affected by new EU sanctions on Belarus. We are aware that CCleaner can get caught up in such sanctions, it has been before. If so then there is not a lot CCleaner themselves can do about it, it's politics. We'll have to wait for the staff's reply to be sure whether CCleaner is being affected or not. Background: The EU imposed new sanctions on Balarus at the end of June, but such things take time to put in place and may only now be affecting people. https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/press/press-releases/2021/06/24/eu-imposes-sanctions-on-belarusian-economy/ Although not specifically blocking internet access it does prohibit the supply 'directly or indirectly' of certain softwares that could be used by the military or by 'specified persons'. That 'indirectly' can mean that it prohibits supply of those softwares to anyone in the sanctioned country. (As you say, sanctions such as this are politics and affect lots more than those who they are aimed at). What you can do: As said above , if it is a sanction block, then you should still be able to run your existing CCleaner when not connected to the internet. The cleaning functions will still work, but the other tools, and updates, may be blocked. You may also be blocked from downloading new versions until the sanctions are lifted.
  18. Confirmed, it just need the page updating, it is downloading ccsetup585.exe But Note also that the Portable on the builds page has not yet been updated and is still downloading ccsetup584.zip
  19. @Yahoody Your last post was just quotes of the previous posts, there is nothing new there?
  20. That would seem to say that Defender hasn't blocked CCleaner then, and you say you aren't running any other AV/AM that might do so. A virus/malware blocking CCleaner is a very, very, remote possibility, but is a possibility so I would run a scan with a good tool like Malwarebytes: https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download Malwarebytes runs quite happily alongside Windows Defender to give extra protection, or turn off the 14 day trial and just use it for manual scans only. A bit of checking shows that you may have a different issue though. You appear to be in country that is normally supported by CCleaner, however that country was made subject to sanctions by the EU on 24th June 2021. Are you having any issues with other softwares that connect to the internet? Try disconnecting from the internet before running CCleaner and tell us if that works.
  21. That is usually a sign that an antivirus/antimalware is stopping CCleaner from running. (Especiallly if the Portable would not run). You did mention a Defender setting - but do you have any other AV/AM installed? 'Exceptions' where? Also - In the Defender Potentially unwanted app blocking does the 'Protection History' show that it's blocked anything CCleaner related?
  22. You need to use Custom Clean and untick 'Session' for Chrome, see the link below for more info: If you are using Custom Clean and it is removing your saved passwords then also untick 'Saved Passwords' and 'Saved Form Information' (You should normally have those unticked anyway). The page you are shown when you open a new tab is a setting in the browser itself, you can also get add-ons/extensions that give you more options of what is shown when you open a new tab.
  23. First question has to be have you double checked if you have your browser synced? If so then read that linked post again about syncing, if not read below. From a quick look: Sweetnitro is a games house - Football/rugby/touchdown/etc. manager games. (You have an account for that type of game that stores info of your teams and league position). So I guess you are getting that from playing a manager game, or possibly you have a live tile for that game, or possibly it has a background process like an updater running? The next is Amazon CloudFront - That doesn't mean you have been anywhere near Amazon itself; CloudFront a webserver used by billions of websites. Again any background app or live tile could be bringing that back. The next two are Facebook - guess where those are coming from. Anything running in the background that has a link to Facebook, or again a live tile. The next two are from Firebase, which is a Google development tool. That could be any website or app, you could check background processess and live tiles but without a name to help it's probably guesswork. The last one is Facebook again. Hopefully that gives you a clue what to start looking for. *(see below) Note that CCleaner will be cleaning them, but something is then putting them back. As there is more than one it's probably more than one something, but it could be just one background app. * If they are always coming back immediately after cleaning (and you are not syncing) that means that whatever is bringing them back must be active in some way. (Minimised apps, apps running in the background eg. for updates, or live tiles). First thing I'd do is if you have any live tiles on the start menu try turning them off. Right-click the tile, select More, select Turn Live Tile off. Next you can use Task Manager to see what is running in the background: Right-click anywhere on the taskbar and select Task Manager. (Click 'More Details' if it's only showing a small window). On the 'Processes' tab click on 'Name'. That will order the running apps/processes so you can see what is running in the background and hopefully spot the offender. * My guess is that game is running something in the background and is responsible for all 7 of those cookies. (All 7 look like they could well come from just one online game).
  24. It's files that have been emptied but are still there so are found again. Because they are always a set size CCleaner doesn't know if they are empty or not so always cleans them just in case they aren't empty. (Ccleaner itself also puts a couple of temporary files in that area so will always find something in there). See the link in my signature at the bottom of this post for a fuller explanation.
  25. Have a read of this link (just click on it to open) which explains the various reason why things come back after cleaning, and what you can do to stop (some not all of) it happening. https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/52668-tracking-files-not-cleaned-files-coming-back-solvedexplained/?tab=comments#comment-300043 Look towards the bottom of that post for explanations of where your particular cookies may be coming from: PS. If you can tell us what your particular cookies are we can probably tell you where they are coming from.
