Agree totally with Andavari, this comes as no surprise to me. I actually thought I'd give the current version a try recently and it was a shadow of its former self. I do still use the old 5.7 version though and it wipes the floor with CCleaners secure deletion (all existence of files are gone unlike CCleaner and Recuvas method of renaming them zzzzzzzzzz.zzz or whatever) Oh and I agree completely with moving WFS to tools, but I think thats only a matter of time (possibly in version 3?). It's far to sensible not to be changed at some point.

Um, yes, all of them. Potentially. Or none of them, potentially. CCleaner doesn't target Bit Defender specifically but there is obviously some quirk of how and where BD stores its files and/or how it stores them on your system that is making CCleaner think they're fit to remove. And this won't be specific to CCleaner, I'd put money on any other reg cleaner removing the exact same entries, and possibly more. This happens sometimes and its why you should always exercise extreme caution (and create backups) when using any reg cleaner, even CCleaner's. It's safer than most but no reg cleaner is infallible.

Couple of things. Firstly all software is used at users own risk. Secondly, threats won't get the issue addressed any quicker

Would be nice if Hotmail/all webmail services provided that, I've had three spam emails in the last few weeks from friends with Hotmail accounts that they never actually sent. Would be so helpful to rule out account hacking.

You see that message when you run CCleaner with Firefox running. Due to the way Firefox is built CCleaner can't clean its cache files while it's open so skips them and provides that message

Yeah, a bunch (about 60) of the reg entries were "start menu2" reg entries which CCleaner actually clears if you tick "Menu order cache". A bunch others I didn't like the look of at all. Another thing I didn't like was the cleaner doesn't actually tell you the location (or size IIRC) of certain things it claims can be cleaned so you can't check them yourself (or add them to CCleaner's inclusions if they're worthwhile ). One thing I did look into was its Avira cleaning, I assume CCleaner leaves these alone for the sake of beginners and to assist in virus removal, I have added both of these as inclusions in CCleaner: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\LOGFILES C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\FAILSAVE Just as a disclaimer, I'm not suggesting anyone else add them as they can be important in the event of infection. I've done it as I'm comfortable with my security setup, browse with common sense and haven't had a malware scare for years. It also wanted to delete: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\TEMP\avguard.tmp Not only is it locked so can't be deleted anyway, it's recreated at every startup so pretty pointless.

And you're definitely only downloading it from the Piriform site or FileHippo? If so I'm a little stumped as to what could be causing this

I had a look into the webappstore.sqlitefile on my system and it was virtually empty, and the 4-5 lines it did contain were of no significance. Didn't seem to relate specifically to me or my browsing so wonder what sites use this file, and why, cos I obviously don't visit them (or my setup stops it somehow)

It is for me, the example I gave is a folder that KMPlayer creates at every start and is always empty for me, hence why I have it included to clean. Have just double checked by starting KMPlayer to recreate the folder, it is completely empty and is removed by CCleaner. Are you sure you used the specific wildcard syntax in my example, ie |*.*|REMOVESELF You could try adding the folder to CCleaners include list, making sure to select from the dropdown box "Include files and subfolders and the folder itself". If that works you'll know there's an issue with your syntax. Can you manually delete the folder just from Windows, ie just right click and delete it, would rule out the issue being that it's in use or protected in some way

Picking up on that comment, did you select "Include files AND subfolders" from the dropdown list when adding it to the include list? (or "Include files and subfolders and the folder itself" if you want the containing folder removed too)

Not had it long so not really put it through its paces but I've no complaints so far

I've gone from a HP to a Canon. The Canon comes with quite a chunk of software (320Mb in total here) BUT the crucial difference is, first, 90% of the software install is optional. And secondly, the software is actually useful and I have installed it for that reason, unlike HP which breaks if you don't install all its (mostly useless) crap.

You're not by any chance using any kind of sandbox/virtualisation software are you (eg Returnil, Power Shadow,Deep Freeze)
