  1. You are still lucky that you have grown up with both your parents, I assume. I lost my mom when I was only 8 years old because of multiple organ cancer, I think, but it still went through a 14-month struggle.God bless you and your family.
  2. It was yesterday in our place.
  3. You mean the other buttons should also gray out when a scan is being performed??? The downside of this though is that it kinda makes it look like if CCleaner is crashing and freezing.
  4. So you did not notice anything peculiar about your dad before his health had failed???? Maybe that is because he did not want you to be worried. A bad fortune I see but I guess like all things must pass, things have to move on. Sorry to hear about that, just a few months ago, you had trouble moving and looking for a job now this. Just do your best to hold on for now and God will do the rest.
  5. Since you said that you have MS Office 2007 installed, that could be responsible for some MS Office junk files that appear, not Office 2003. I do not recommend you to delete HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common cause that may be linked to the current MS Office version you are using, however, in my mind it is safer to delete HKCU\Software\Google\NavClient\1.1 if and only if, there are no other Goggle related products are installed in your PC. You can manually back it up, just right click the key and choose Export just in case something gets wrong. You do not have to religiously clean the registry cause making a mistake might have grim consequences in your computer and programs plus these two entries you say have very little effect whatsoever to the PC's performance. The time, you uninstalled Office 2003 and Google Toolbar, you should have used Revo Uninstaller cause Revo has the ability to remove most registry entries that are linked to the application it removes. Plus, it also has the ability to remove most of the orphaned folders and files that the uninstalled application leaves behind.
  6. Yes, I like the idea. By seeing the size of the restore points, you can more easily decide which to remove but I'd rather remove those with less significant system priorities.

    no gained space

Yes, what were the options you have checked on CCleaner. However, CCleaner can delete restore points but the latest one. If you want, you can delete some of the restore points namely those that were created in occasions with less system priorities such as an antivirus update. You did not even state what operating system you use. If you are using Vista, then it would be no surprise why too much space is being eaten by restore points.

    Urgent Problem

Wow that is a weird looking purple theme. I have not researched about this "Cache" folder when I was using Windows XP but in what you have shown, I believe that those files listed and sorted there are actually what the "Cache" folder should contain and maybe, just maybe, Windows XP does not have a "Cache" folder at all for Firefox.

Are you sure you went to the right location??? Maybe the "Cache" folder is hidden. To show hidden files, open Tools on Windows Explorer, Folder Options, open the View tab and mark "Show Hidden, Files, Folders and Drives. But on Windows 7, it is shown. Remember that the Cache folder always gets deleted if you clear Firefox's history but recreated when you start browsing with Firefox again.

    Urgent Problem

Well I mentioned quite a number of times, this "Cache" that I am speaking of is NOT a file but a FOLDER that contains files that make up your browsing history. I have far more trust in Windows 7's system restore operation, cause its faster and you can actually restore individual folders or even individual files from the time that restore point was made. It completely outdoes Windows XP, Windows Vista or any other OS I have tried in terms or backup and recovery. Since you said, you have far too many bookmarks, I have made a way to "bookmark" sites without even using Firefox's bookmarking module or the Bookmarks toolbar and it will always probably launch your default browser to the designated link or if you have Firefox opened, running it will luach a new tab to the designated link. We will use batch files but this is very simple. Follow it carefully: 1. Create a new folder on the desktop so its easy to access and name it anything you like but lets name it "My Bookmarks". 2. We will bookmark the Piriform Forums for example. Open Notepad and type this: @echo off start http://forum.piriform.com 3. Save this Notepad file into the "My Bookmarks" folder you just created and name it Piriform.bat It should appear as a batch file. Just double click it and a new tab on Firefox opens, taking you to the designated link which is the Piriform Forums. You just have to do the same step on every link you wanna bookmark. I know this is a bit longer but what choice do you have if you have too many bookmarks already??? One simpler method is just paste the links of the sites you wanna bookmark into a single Notepad document and just highlight them and copy, then paste to the address bar and that's it.

    Urgent Problem

Well the Cache folder is deleted when you empty Firefox's cache but is recreated when you start using Firefox again. The easiest way for me to bookmark sites is simply drag the tabs where your fave sites opened into the bar just below the address bar, called the Bookmarks toolbar and a shortcut to those sites will be available in the bookmarks toolbar everytime you open Firefox. And please, DO NOT check the "Wipe Free Space" option for cleaning, its not something that should be done on a regular cleaning.

Kaelkitty, have you tried the program I suggested you yet???

    Urgent Problem

I suspect the Cache(3) was made after the restore operation because the folder called "Cache" in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\jzj1inju.default\ (for Windows XP) or C:\Users\name\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\sawb347j.default (for Vista and Windows 7) is deleted when you clear Firefox's history so doing system restore might have brought back a folder also named "Cache" from the time this restore point was created thus we now have multiple folders named "Cache" so there would be a folder named Cache, another named Cache(2), and another named Cache(3) and that would happen in theory if you made a restore operation twice but otherwise I do not know if deleting the folder named Cache and renaming the folder named Cache(3) will restore history as well.

Thank God, I just found this link: http://www.blogsdna.com/4252/recover-deleted-firefox-35-history-with-firefox-history-recover.htm Here is the download page for that application: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ff3hr/ But I guess this only works if you are using Firefox 3 or later.

    Urgent Problem

Do you have a system restore point that was made in the last few days??? In my mind, doing system restore is the best thing you can do to restore your browsing history that is if you are using Windows 7 but I haven't tried that yet, not too sure with XP or Vista. If you don't want this to happen again, try uncheking all things under Firefox on the CCleaner's cleaning menu. Also consider bookmarking your fave sites. Or if you are using Firefox 3.5 or later, you can just drag the tab where your site is opened to the Bookmarks toolbar which is located just below the address bar so you'll always have a shortcut to your fave sites.

    Freeware!

I think their website also offers a few services to enhance, edit and just have fun with your pictures too.

    Freeware!

Photo! Editor Its a very good free picture editor program. Not perfect but has done quite an excellent job for me. I used it as a replacement for Windows Live Photo Gallery. It has the ability to remove red eye, crop, adjust coloring, resize, denoise, deblur, beautify, adjust lighting and even warp parts of the picture. You also have the ability to save the edited picture as a new file or let it overwrite the original.
  18. Yes, I understand what you meant but I am only saying what I did on MY computer and basically, if all Piriform products let you install to a custom location, what you are asking is possible but you would have to manually direct them to this C:\Program Files\Piriform directory during their installment. But I personally think its not a big deal of concern but should do for those who like their folders grouped and sorted so neatly such as myself.
  19. Hey, I just watched the 7th episode of The Pacific, I have watched it since part 1 and the opening theme music just makes me feel sad though. It was aired since last Saturday, then again yesterday but I recorded it using Windows Media Center cause I had to do something else when it was being shown. I think it had a little more action than the Band of Brothers. I like war films too. The thought that was inspiring for me today was: "Many roads can take you there, many different ways One direction takes you years, another takes you days" Its from an unreleased Beatles song "Dehra Dhun". I don't use drugs but hearing this makes me feel spiritual that way.
  20. Maybe, you just keep clicking the huge "download" button on the top, you will only keep going in circles that way. There is a smaller link below the donations page that's lets you download it.

    IE 8 V vrs IE7

I think all IE will always have people complaining about them. The major problem with IE is that its not as versatile as Firefox and I haven't been able to find a way to install new skins into it. But I use IE 8 for manually downloading Youtube videos cause its easier for me to distinguish items inside the IE cache than the Firefox cache.
  22. Just download it from http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ so it doesn't have to go to any donation pages. That and the link Aethec provided are the only trusted sites where you can download CCleaner.
  23. I think its completely normal. The only thing that seems to be a bit scary is the part where you said the computer froze for a minute and there was this blue screen of death afterwards. But I'm using Windows 7 too and there has been a few occasions that it froze too but the computer worked normally after a reboot and there was apparently nothing wrong. Let me get this straight for you, this is how the Internet works: you open your browser, you go to multiple sites and watch videos, your browser downloads all these web pages and videos to your computer so you can view them. Add those all up after a day of going to like a hundred or more webpages and maybe like watching 10-20 Youtube videos and you get like 200 MB of this data saved in your Firefox browser cache. So running CCleaner, with the default settings makes you clear Firefox's browser cache so you its completely normal that several megabytes (MBs) of data is cleared by CCleaner. I myself clear about 100-200 MBs of this data a day, depending on how heavily I was browsing. And most of the data would be from the cache of either Firefox or IE. You are using AVG as well. AVG keeps logs of its events like when it was started or had a virus scan and CCleaner is also set to clear those logs so that also adds up to the junk files that you see CCleaner would clean. Never mention all the other applications who automatically make logs that CCleaner is set to clean. And by the way, you also play Quakelive. I also used to play it once but it actually downloads Quake map data somewhere in C:\Users\Username\AppData directory but that is NOT part of the cache so you can always play and launch the game from Firefox even if you have cleared Firefox's browsing cache with CCleaner. I hope that makes things clear.
  24. I agree. Although this has been suggested many times, I think, CCleaner should have its own built-in module for auto-cleaning without manually going to the Task Scheduler. Whenever someone suggests that, active forum members would say, ohh.. just use the Task Scheduler or those command lines.... But many inexperienced users don't even know how to use the Task Scheduler and some other don't even have that in their computer vocabulary, the same time they always forget to do cleanups. For inexperienced users, those things like CCleaner.exe or /AUTO are just not that clear. I think, a built in interface for scheduling cleaning tasks within CCleaner, would help soothe that problem along with the help and advice of computer technicians like Phil2010 cause its way too simpler to see it that way. Its a feature that so many other utility software have made easy with just a few clicks, without those command line things, I don't see why CCleaner should not make it simpler like that.

IE8 of course, why go for the buggier IE 7???? I think IE 8 is cool with its InPrivate Browsing feature that Firefox and the other browsers copied soon afterwards.
