  1. Sounds more like something was wrong with the installed copy, and over-installing/re-installing fixed it. We'll have to remember that if anyone else is having that slow cleaning issue.
  2. I wonder if IE's cache ("Temporary Internet Files")/History have a corrupted file which is causing CCleaner to hang. Perhaps try using the built-in IE tool for cleaning, run ChkDsk, and then try CCleaner again.
  3. How to Start New Topic I've made this since every now and then a new member will ask how they can make their own topic. Screenshot (click image to enlarge it):
  4. This has all been said before on the forums multiple times: * Wipe Free Space ("WFS") isn't something you should be using regularly because it has the potential to wear out the hard disk causing it to fail. * WFS is something you use when you want to sell off or donate your computer.
  5. In CCleaner: Under the Firefox heading if you have Compact Databases enabled/ticked that can be one reason for cleaning taking so long.
  6. I'd say keep the .reg backups for a bare minimum of 1 month. I used to keep them for a minimum of 3 months or longer but that was over a decade ago using over-aggressive registry cleaning programs before I starting using CCleaner. CCleaner has a more gentle registry cleaner but it can still cause issues, hence the reason to maintain the backups for awhile.
  7. From the twilight zone this one was. Assumptions get you nowhere. I fully agree with Nergal. And thankfully this topic was already locked!
  8. They only just recently made it more compatible with build 10049, see here for the official change log: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=43427
  9. Removing a Run entry which could possibly remake/reinstall itself really isn't the proper way of handling it. Perhaps instead try to disable "iFunBox Fast App Install Handler" using: Windows: Start > Run > MSCONFIG MSCONFIG allows you to only enable/disable. -or- In CCleaner: Tools > Startup CCleaner allows you to enable/disable/delete. Use delete with extreme caution as it could mean having to reinstall a software that requires a Run entry to function such as an anti-virus, security programs, drivers for the system, etc.
  10. Don't assume anything! I actually did understand what you meant! It was just a reassuring post that you found the correct documentation.
  11. Out of our powers mta, but I'll leave a note so an Admin can do it.
  12. The page you eventually found (http://www.piriform.com/docs) is where all the documentation goes and it's were people are linked to for official documentation on the forums
  13. That usually never works from my experience being that everything would stay intact meaning the Profile would be re-used which could be what's causing the issues. Edit: I should note whenever I've started off fresh with Firefox I've made bookmark backups to an HTML file to restore from - although newer versions of FF allow for backing them up to a .json file instead of only HTML.
  14. Better if you make your own unique topic, this one is Willy2's bug observations about Defraggler.
  15. They probably have their own service all to themselves so all the money stays in China.
  16. Could be various things * The size of it if that's a limitation which I don't know. Although some defraggers won't bother with single big files since it wouldn't be of any performance benefit to bother defragging them. * The freespace available on the hard disk - if there isn't enough available it wouldn't be defragged. This can also be coupled with the MFT zone ("space allocated for the MFT" which defrag tools should respect). Sometimes it's necessary to run a different defrag tool such as the one included in Windows, etc., (since some ignore things that another won't).
  17. If it's taking that long it could also mean the SQLite database is heavily fragmented, or possibly corrupted. If it's corruption it's probably best to refrain from using "Compact Databases" and/or Vacuuming in any program or tool that offers it.
  18. I still use it. I'm contemplating rather or not it will be the last Microsoft OS I use, as I am very tired of Windows in general.
  19. I doubt they don't care it would leave XP users behind, they like the money they get from purchases regardless of the OS their software is installed on.
  20. None that I can think of because Explorer.exe isn't locking the free space that would be wiped.
  21. WinXP (taken from TweakUI as the default location): %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning In order for it to support XP it would need to remain.
  22. It's whatever Java-based program you're using then that evidently needs to recreate the data.
