  1. I saw a YouTube video about that, good for 360 users who have games they'd like to continue playing. Switching gears I'm excited because the Sony E3 conference last night announced Final Fantasy 7 Remake for the PS4.
  2. At least Norton can be bought for a very cheap price when bought new in a box if one looks around. I remember back in 2000 when I bought it the local Staples store wanted twice the price of what Amazon.com had it for.
  3. I've been removing .tmp files from the C:\Windows\Installer folder for years with no ill effects, but that's on this old WinXP system so I can't say if it would cause your much newer OS any troubles. This is how I've dealt with Windows Installer left-overs for years (note that I don't use CCleaner to do it anymore, I instead use a batch file): ECHO [ WINDOWS INSTALLER - JUNK ] attrib /s -r -h -s "C:\CONFIG.MSI\*.*" rmdir /q /s "C:\CONFIG.MSI" attrib /s -r -h -s "%windir%\INSTALLER\*.TMP" del /q /s /f "%windir%\INSTALLER\*.TMP"
  4. Maybe others will follow Microsoft's lead. Hopefully they add in the removal of it via Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool ("MRT") since it's updated monthly and that way it will remove that rubbish even if someone doesn't use a Microsoft branded antivirus product. Edit: I've had killbits set in place for Ask.com Toolbar for years.
  5. English page here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Lee Interesting, I didn't know he released his own Metal music, I'll have to listen to both of his albums.
  6. If you're using Palemoon Portable you'd have to tell CCleaner where to look, if that's not the case and you're instead using the install version of Palemoon that could mean that a registry key has changed to detect it and CCleaner would need an update to detect that new location. For more info see the official docs: How to clean user data from non-standard Mozilla browsers
  7. They started that practice way back in the WinXP days where if you wanted all the updates you had to install them via Microsoft Updates, they only released some of them for manual download but not all of them.
  8. I find the whole thing very interesting because we are constantly telling people new to the forums that CCleaner is not an anti-malware to the point many months ago I made a locked pinned topic about it (seems to be a little buzz on the Internet that it's anti-malware). Now some business/IT department is accusing it of being a malware and even firing someone over installing when clearly it is NOT malware. The various anti-virus/anti-malware products that scan and do not produce false positives against CCleaner's installer/files (products such as ESET produce false positives against CCleaner) can validate it isn't malware simply by uploading CCleaner to online scanners such as; Jotti, VirusTotal. Metascan Online, etc. I don't think the business/IT department could simply go 100% by the anti-virus/anti-malware they have installed since the fact is any anti-virus/anti-malware can give a false positive, i.e.; inaccurately/falsely indicating the presence of virus/malware when one does not exist.
  9. Maybe Hazelnut is onto something because the registry cleaner has no ability to delete physical files on the hard disk. Unless you're using some download manager and managing downloaded files from it - then it's feasibly that CCleaner via the 'Cleaner' broom button could've wiped out the download list/MRU.
  10. I don't really think it's going to matter much because one you click past the big advert to upgrade or click no thanks which is a special page, and then finally click the Builds link it takes you to the same location.
  11. I think it's because you're using a Gold Laptop! ----------- The download now works for me.
  12. They must be having issues on the build page because this is all I get (text size reduced for forum etiquette):
  13. Moved to "The Lounge". An employer has the right to scold anyone who doesn't ask permission to install software, which is why it's always better to ask first instead of assuming. Harsh lesson learned I'd say.
  14. I personally wouldn't download anything from CNET, I don't trust them, and they've been known to wrap installers for their own advertising purposes. I'd recommend in the future only downloading CCleaner from the official website: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner It may help to view the CCleaner docs: https://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner
  15. Your Internet can be "wiped-out" all on it's own, which is why my ISP recommends rebooting the modem once-per-week for maintenance.
  16. Yes that's not implemented, and the ability to use those #hashtag texts which were being used as spam and just outright annoying.
  17. See here: https://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/using-ccleaner/wiping-free-disk-space It has to fill up all free space to wipe it. Edit: I changed your topic title from "ccleaner help" to "ccleaner help - wipe free space".
  18. Try unticking/disabling this in CCleaner and see if it works: Cleaner (broom image/button) > Applications (tab) > Firefox: Session
  19. This is the cleaner which is in CCleaner v5.06.5219 for "cleaning" BlueStacks: [BlueStacks] ID=2401 LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKLM\Software\Bluestacks Default=True FileKey1=%CommonAppData%\BlueStacks\logs|*.log;*.log.*|RECURSE FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\BlueStacks\logs|*.log FileKey3=%CommonAppData%\BlueStacksSetup\Images\|*.*|REMOVESELF FileKey4=%CommonAppData%\BlueStacksSetup|runtimedata_*.zip;runtimedata_*.zip.manifest FileKey5=%CommonAppData%\BlueStacksSetup|bstInstall.log From the cleaner listed above, and from the text you edited in and provided it will delete: Logs, and some of the setup files. Since it's breaking the program you can untick/disable BlueStacks in CCleaner, this will stop it from removing any files associated with the program. I'll make a note so that an admin or bug fixer notices this topic about CCleaner breaking BlueStacks.
  20. It's been around for a long time. See the Wikipedia info about it.
  21. See here why the answer is no: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=36419
  22. A new member posting some trivia. Hope this doesn't end up as spam, or worse weird spam.
  23. It would've helped prove what you've stated had you taken a screenshot of CCleaner, it has that "text log" shown on screen immediately after it runs the cleaner which would've showed what it deleted.
  24. When I looked at what it cleaned I saw that which was why I suggested unticking/disabling the cleaning of Office 2010.
  25. I'd say just go ahead and post them in Software, since it doesn't have its own forum section.
