  1. If he wants to hide it, I think he's using WinXP or older since it's hidden by default in Vista/7. Maybe this will work ? http://www.askvg.com/hide-menubar-addressbar-throbber-in-my-computer-in-windows-xp/

    adobeAIR

    Or try this : http://www.pcmech.com/article/how-to-uninstall-adobe-air-windows/
  3. NTFS metadata. You can't defrag them using a normal defrag - you'll have to use some trial version of a commercial defragmenter which can defrag at boot time, e.g. PerfectDisk.

The rich text editor now works with FF 3.6
  5. The problem is, you can't simply add an app. Users must know what are the files & Registry keys that the said app uses to store MRUs, temporary files, etc.
  6. *rolls on the floor laughing* This is just proof Symantec doesn't know anything about security. Does Opera runs in a Protected-mode-like on Vista and 7 ? No. Does it sandboxes tabs ? No. Sandboxing plugins ? No. Opera is secure because no one will ever write an exploit for a browser that has less than 2% market share - especially considering that Opera users are probably more tech-savvy than users who still use old IE versions. For the same reasons, there are not much hackers who are looking for Opera flaws. The most secure browser if you don't use Flash is Chrome, thanks to its sandboxm (it doesn't eve allow reading the disk). Else it's IE8 since it can run Flash in a sandbox (but the sandbox allows reading from disk). And if you really want something secure, I think running Firefox from a Linux LiveCD is secure since no virus will be able to install itself.
  7. Please update CCleaner - latest is 2.30 : http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

Not on my system. Ctrl+F5 maybe ?
  9. I assume you have an iPhone and/or iPod ? If you don't, uninstall everything related to Apple.
  10. Please look for a Comodo Dragon folder in %AppData% and give the exact path - since it's a Chromium-based browser it shouldn't be too difficult to add to Winapp2.ini
  11. You know WFS only deletes already deleted files, doesn't free space, and doesn't improve performance at all, right ?

Maybe you could also drop all inactive accounts ? Searching for members with 0 posts and last visit before 21 February returns...727 pages, i.e. ~14500 members. Nearly half of the total member count

The new Piriform theme is a bit too eye-catching - the old one was lighter and thus better IMHO.
  14. It seems McAfee is trying to copy BitDefender in destroying their users's systems : http://www.neowin.net/news/mcafee-update-is-locking-users-out-of-their-systems-do-not-update33 If someone on the forum is using it...don't update !
  15. When CCleaner deletes something... it is deleted. You'll have to use Recuva (or another recovery program, but Recuva's very good) to recover them. The Registry cleaner can make backups of what it deletes. PS : Don't use Wipe Free Space - it's useless.

    O Thanks

Or maybe simply advertising for Antivir ?
  17. The free space defrag is in the Action >> Advanced menu
  18. NTFS-compressed files/folders, maybe ? They appear with a blue name in Windows Explorer, like this :
  19. Double-click them. The backups aren't backups of the Registry, but backups of the keys you deleted ; if you want to restore your Registry to, say, 3 days ago, you'll need to merge every backup from now to days ago.
  20. I wonder if they could simply say "the CDs cost us $2.99, we're not selling the software"
  21. I can't agree with you. Cache files are re-created automatically ; cookies are not.
  22. That means there are only a few files in the block. http://docs.piriform.com/defraggler/using-...g-the-drive-map But you're right ; it should be in Defraggler's legend.
  23. Avast! 5 Pro has a sandbox, too. The funny thing is that until avast! 5 was released, the Sandboxie website said it was impossible to make a sandbox on x64 systems (because of PatchGuard). Shortly after the release, there was a Sandboxie update...which added x64 support
  24. Some other people also posted screenshots with a drive map like yours (lots of small gradients). Maybe it'll be fixed in next release... PS : Just how big is your drive ?
