  1. Left click on  file at the top of the green list to highlight it.

You hold down your keyboard shift key (one with the arrow)

You move down list a bit (as a test) to another green file and left click on it and the files inbetween should all turn blue so that you can right-click on them to recover.

OKAY !!!    Turned off the computer, disconnected internet, turned the computer on, went to documents and installed the new update with absolutely no problem.

Now I am back on the internet and there does not seem to be any problem with any site or anything.    Thanks for your suggestion.   I will try this again next time there is an update, if necessary.

    Good to hear.

    Enjoy your weekend :)

No.  LOL    I am quite reluctant to disable Real Time Protection - even for a short time - so I will probably continue to use the CCleaner that I have installed and wait until the next update, hoping it will install with no problems.   Thanks for your time and answers.

    No problem, I understand.

One other way you could try is to have the CCleaner installer on your machine, turn off the internet on your machine (real time wouldn't work then but you would be safe) and then see if Ccleaner installer would work.

Then turn the internet back on.

So if you uninstall CCleaner and then reboot (yet again !!) the freeze doesn't happen?

Would you be willing to download CCleaner installer again to your machine, turn off Malwarebytes realtime, install CCleaner, and see if the issue still happens?

Then of course you then would turn MBAM back on after the test.

By the way, are you using the latest version of Malwarebytes, the one mentioned here, which fixed a lot of issues it had/

  5. Have you considered trying to turn off the realtime of Malwarebytes before you actually install CCleaner ?

Please let us know if that helps.

Did you already have CCleaner installed before?

Are you installing it from your downloads folder (or desktop) and not directly from the web page?

    Are you using Windows 10?

    registry scan has stopped working

    Need more info.

What operating system are you running (Windows 10 ?)

What security software do you use?

Which build number etc of CCleaner do you have?

What exactly happens when you do a registry clean ? (doing reg cleans on Win 10 for example is not really a good idea)

Clean thumbnail cache has always required explorer to restart, this is usually achieved by restarting the computer.  It was this way for a couple of entries, but I can't think of one right now (need more caffeine).

You may also be thinking of tray notifications cache.

You don't need to restart machine for explorer.exe restart just do it via task manager (kill it and then do file..run new task.)

@Dave CCleaner: Thanks for the information. Unfortunately the bug is not completely fixed!

The following DetectOS string is now working again: DetectOS=10.0|10.0 (= only for Windows 10)

But this DetectOS string is now completely broken: DetectOS=|10.0 (= for Windows 10 and older)
Because now it does not even work with an attached build number: DetectOS=|10.0.18363.959 (= for Windows 10.0.18363.959 and older)

    Good find !!!
