  1. look under the aplications tab. Any thing that has to do with that program uncheck.
  2. Yes you can delete the installer icon.
  3. I just saw this and now know what you meant on your site Dj. I was just being a smart ass when I wrote that because of that guy woodland who you were kind of going back and forth with. Dont worry though I'm not scared of the big bad lizard.
  4. what are you hmming about?
  5. Sadly I never even joined the competition. I thought about buying one of these about 2 months ago and decided to hold out. I figured it would just be another portable game system that I never play. When I game I like to be sitting in front of my tv or computer. (I really really want a ps3 have you all seen the games for it? I still drool over that killzone trailer. http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/index.html )
  6. Make sure the master volume is not turned down. control panel>sounds and audio devices. If not that than the sound cards probably trashed. Tell your friend to go buy a cheap sound card ( you can find really really crappy ones for $15 or less). This sounds like an entry/learning pc anyway. So if your friend gets a year or two out of it he would probably want a new one anyway.
  7. TM I guess were just not the people who really care what our sigs look like. I've been to some forums where entire 200 reply threads were about what their sigs look like. I didnt even have one here untill you put a message in mine saying I needed one.
  8. Your right, but I know that I would rather have a 60% chance of security over a 0% chance.
  9. So your restore points were not deleted then? At least your problem is solved.
  10. The only downside is that if you reinstalled those programs you would no longer have all of your settings and things. I used to have tons of them too and deleted them. How big of a hard drive do you have? I have never almost filled one up. Even with the gigs of music and photos that I have.
  11. Did you just recently create that restore point? If so you could have accidentally cleared all but the most recent one. If not I'm not sure and wait to see what the other people here say.
  12. No that couldnt have caused it. I was just trying to see what programs you have running. I dont think anyone has ever said CCleaner wiped their system restore. To be honest I dont know. Wait to see what a couple of others here have to say, espescially Djlizard, Tarun, and TwistedMetal. They should be able to help you sort this out.
  13. I dont think CCleaner could have done that. Did you use any other "cleaner" programs? What other programs do you have running or have had running when they were erased?
  14. Somebody didnt read all of the posts again . Settings wasnt the first thing I recommended, plus he said that he changed the refresh rate and it helped. He probably does need a new monitor though.

    Missing dlls

We must not like you, no one is replying to your topics. It's safe to remove the entries that CCleaner found. They could be from a number of things like the installer, or maybe you deleated a shortcut to the program or anything. If you uninstall kaspersky than you will see a whole lot more invalid entries. So go ahead and delete them. Just to make sure what does CCleaner say the reason for them are? (to find this under issues select them in fix and it will give you a description about where they came from. you can hit the arrow incons and scroll through without actually changing anything yet.)
  16. You might have had the settings to high for your monitor. Try this: right click on your desktop>choose properties>settings>Advanced> Monitor. Make sure the box that says "hide modes that my monitor cannot display" is checked.
  17. instead of clicking run CCleaner why dont you just choose empty recycle bin?
  18. It couldnt hurt to post a HJT log. Try this: refind the infected files then right click on them and choose to scan them with Avast see if it detects them as malware.

    IE 7 pics!

Has everyone here seen these pictures of IE7? http://www.jaynews.net/index.php?p=32&more...b=1&pb=1#more32 This looks like a bad rip off of firefox. I found these pics on Taruns web site Lunarsoft in the affiliate JNN.
  20. Dj I just saw this and was surprised. This guy had the problem I had a while ago. The only thing is I didnt have counterspy. I probably did have MS antispy though but I dont remember if I got the change notice or not. I never thought this problem was caused by CCleaner and I dont know about counterspy but my issue wasnt from counterspy. Strange though.
  21. The only bug I have seen in CCleaner is the firefox issue that you can see here (not a serious problem). Usually when people come here with problems that they claim were caused by CCleaner we find out they were not. Most of the time the issues are caused by things like viruses and spyware. Also a lot of the time people had been using other programs like regseeker (stay away from this program unless you know how the windows registry works).
  22. I dont think their has ever been monitor problems from CCleaner. This may insult your intelligence but make sure their isnt anything magnetic around your monitor. If you have a nice speaker system with a subwoofer make sure it's magnetically shilded if it's by the monitor (It should have a label on it if its not). Press the menu button on your monitor and look for an icon that looks like a magnet or horse shoe with a line through it and see if that helps (it refreshes the monitor).
  23. Do you have gmail and thunderbird? I never get spam anymore. Just make sure you configure thunderbird correctly to block spam.
  24. This article pretty much sums it up: http://www.neilturner.me.uk/2003/Aug/16/wh...er_than_oe.html (just found it on google).
