  1. I've installed all versions of DirectX over the years (apart from 10 the last one) without any problem. I think it started with version 3. The only slight problem is you can easily uninstall it. I downloaded a DirectX uninstaller last your but I haven't tried it as it only works with WinNT. Read my Sig. I was using Win98SE but it kept on crashing yesterday so I decided to put WinME in which I don't actually like. No I haven't reinstalled the good file DirectX 9.0c (Nov 07) after is won't install. Actually I tried to install 9.0c after I did a rebuild but they is something corrupt again. I copied all my backup files over onto a spare drive. I also burnt DirectX with other files to a CD, I shall have to try one of those.
  2. Well I downloaded DirectX 9.0c (Nov 07) of FileHippo and thats the last time it worked correctly. All the other versions since have been corrupt even the ones of Microsoft.
  3. Welcome to Piriform MBorik. You would have to ask MrG about why he's using C++. He could have used Visual C++ which is newer. Version 1.xx.xxx were made using Visual Basic 6.0 good choice.
  4. Thank you for your comments Jmood but I don't have problems with the Flash cookies only the normal cookies they don't get deleted. Now another thing that I've noticed is I do a clean and the cookies are still there so I install CCleaner 2.18.878 because I know it cleans them all and I check Options - Cookies and they are gone. Do you have to close CC to see if they have been cleaned?
  5. No we shouldn't have to for a simple zip file.
  6. I've downloaded and installed CCleaner 2.20.920 and it still doesn't delete the cookies so CCleaner 2.18.878 as gone back in and that does the job correctly. I have my Adobe Flash Player unticked.
  7. Yes we have a corrupt zip here MrT you will have to attach it again.
  8. Welcome to Piriform justaperson. Where have you been for 6 months? If you're using v2.11.636 then you are 13 versions behind as of today. As tbme as pointed out you need admin rights to install CC. Also if you clicked on the Check for updates... link in CC and you still have CC open you can't install the newer version because the one one is in use.
  9. Welcome to Piriform Molly. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
  10. Well every laptop that I've used you don't need to use the button next to the pad providing the cursor is over a button or word just dab the pad twice with your finger and it will open the button or web link. So you have your own double-click on the pad.
  11. Welcome to Piriform JLundR. Why would this option be any use? You don't double-click when you uninstall from Windows. If you did accidentally click to uninstall something you normally get and option are you sure you want to uninstall *********? The renaming option is useful to me.
  12. Well there is a problem with cookies in the last couple of versions of CC. You check whats in the Cookies to Delete list, do a clean and go back to the list and the cookies are still there. I put back v2.18.878 and it cleans them all now.
  13. Welcome to Piriform Izzy. I don't have a check-box for "Windows Error Reporting" in the Windows tab. Well CC has an option to clean all Windows log files. There aren't that important they just report something has been done. Thats files with a log extension. Under System - Windows Log Files just remove the tick and try it again.
  14. I understand Corona. But I don't understand Winapp2.ini.
  15. But that would mean that the same settings would be used for ALL users, which isn't a good option. I've only been use the INI option for the past 3 or 4 months, its quicker. I used to save CC settings from the registry to a reg file. If you change to the INI option and you do a registry scan it picks up the ccleaner software there is nothing in there only the name no settings. So changing to INI removes all settings from the registry and writes them to ccleaner.ini. As you've found out Dennis you don't loose any settings if you use the INI option or the registry which is by default. All previous settings are retained whether your using registry or INI when you update to a newer version. Yes if you rename ccleaner.ini CC goes back to its default settings. CC looks for ccleaner.ini on startup if its not there then the default settings take over.
  16. Yes version 1.xx.xxx were made using Visual Basic 6.0 and versions 2.xx.xxx are made with C++. Why do you ask are you trying to decompile it? Resource Hacker won't decompile it will only extract graphics from it. If you use Resource Hacker on Cards.dll it will extract all the cards from the deck.
  17. Welcome to Piriform DynaWerx. Something else he/she wants for free.
  18. Welcome to Piriform lizschmidt. CC does run fast it just depends on how often you use it. So this is the first time you've used it in 9 years? As Andavari says it my depend on what is running in the background. How mny icons do you have showing the systray next to the clock. Each one is an app thats running in the background which you don't actually need. Even if you have the virus checker running all the time there isn't a lot of point in that because there will always be a background app thats running that you can't see in the systray. Because its a 9 year old computer (mine is 10 year old) the system resources (memory) won't be high so the more you stop running until you need them the better. I only use CC once a week and it takes about 10 seconds to clean. Plus there is a slight bug in the lastest version 2.19.901 it doesn't clean all cookies but if you install 2.18.878 it does. Same thing applies here indent.

    CC Tools

Welcome to Piriform N6JSX. If you don't want McAfee then Windows Control Panel - Add/Remove does the same job as CC Tools Uninstall. Its the uninstaller thats at fault if it leave apps in msconfig to be run on startup. You can remove these startup apps with CC Tools Startup. Now there are actually 5 Windows startup sections in the registry, Run, RunOnce, RunOnceEx, RunServices and RunServicesOnce. CC only cleans the Run section, most things are in Run.
  20. Welcome to Piriform purley. Yes I have to same problem with 2.19.901 http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=21967 I installed 2.18.878 and it works as it should do. There must be a bug they have to sort out.
  21. Welcome to Piriform piriformatic. I'm glad someone else has found this problem I thought it was just me.
  22. Ok todays update. I start my comp up at work and check CC cookies and there are only 2 in there google my start page and our intranet page. So do these cookies get cleaned totally after you do a restart? The version I'm using now 2.18.878 if you click on Options\Cookies and see whats in the Cookies to Delete list go back and do a clean then go back to the list there is nothing in there as it should be. Yesterday there were 30 in there and some sites I hadn't visited for a couple of months. We've had 71 views of this topic and there's only me commenting. As no one any comments?
  23. No I don't listen to any MP's because they are full of ****, I'm just stating the obvious.
  24. I've just ran CC at home and it came back with an error The thread attempted to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate accessCCleaner v2.19.889MS Windows 98 SE639MB RAMNVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400IT=3000ID=-1PR=DA=RK=RU=19CK=0SK=CookiesVK=VA=N_INT_COOKIESCR=57PF=0EI=0FL=7IIT=0FI=-1SI=0 I've never seen this before but after you click OK it carrys on cleaning. What I said before it doesn't clean my cookies at home either so I installed the last version 2.18.878 and it cleaned all cookies, as it should, well all I wanted it to clean.
