Welcome to Piriform Rivanna. Well I don't think you are to blame for this considering you must have admin rights to install CC. At the college where I work we've used CC for 5 years that I know of. A couple years ago I sent a request to the IT techs to install a newer version of CC as mine was about 17 versions behind. The reply was we don't install CC anymore as its only for private use (bull), plus it has a registry editor which we don't like users using. So to get around this you use the INI option and save the CC folder to a flash drive and run it from there that way you don't have to install anything. Our company is very strict on what is installed on any computer. Only the IT tech know the password for administrator so only those guys can install. We also have so security software that reports back to the server what software is installed on every computer. So in your case Rivanna if they didn't want you to install anything they shouldn't have given you admin rights, so its their fault.

Hi all. I've just joined a new forum http://forum.avast.com/ because I've changed to Avast! anti virus. I did a clean then went to the Avast forum and check which cookies are produced from that forum. I opened CC again and the same cookies are there before I cleaned so I'm not sure which one is the forum to save. I mean there are loads of cookies from sites that I've visited months ago but they are still showing in Cookies to Delete. Now I've read lot of topics about cookies and problems with different browsers. I'm trying this option at work at first so its WinXP SP2 using IE6.0 only. I'm using the lastest version 2.19.901. Welcome to Piriform Cross. Well I've never seen Windows 7 and I wouldn't blame CC for this error. I can tell you where to download then speech language. You need to download and install SAPI 4.0 runtime support: and Speech recognition engines: Now depending on what languages you want to install American and English have Sam so you need Text-to-speech engines: Just choose the langauge from the list. If your native language is English the download and install Lernout & Hauspie TruVoice engine - American English (1.0 MB exe) and Lernout & Hauspie TTS3000 engine - British English (2.5 MB exe) Now don't think that if you download Lernout & Hauspie TTS3000 TTS engine - Russian (2.9 MB exe) it will start to speak at you in Russian it won't it will speak Englisk with a Russian accent. You have you show it Russian text to speak in Russian. There is the Speech control panel on the same page but I don't think you'll need that one. There are also all the Microsoft Agents on there I don't know if all are installed on Windows 7. have a look in your Windows folder at Msagent\Chars folder. You could have all 4 agents Genie.acs, Merlin.acs, Peedy.acs and Robby.acs. You can download these from here

Thats ok Boris you can have a bad download occationally but I've never had a bad one for CC of FileHippo only Nero of there. I fact all Nero's of there. I'm glad you got it sorted.

Welcome to Piriform Boris. First of all where did you download CC from? Secondly I'm assuming you have admin rights on the computer you are trying to install it on? When you install I think it extracts all files into the User Temp folder before installation. This question was asked the other day by a Vista user because the user didn't have admin rights for that folder. No CC hasn't used Microsoft VB since version 1.xx.xxx

Welcome to Piriform Ibrahim. You obviously trying to install on Vista and as TheOdds says you need admin right to install CC. If you have rights on your own computer install it on there and copy the CCleaner folder to a USB flash drive and run it from there on any computer you want too. I do that ay work because they won't install it anymore. If you want to use the same settings as your computer then use the Options\Advanced - Save all settings to INI file.

Welcome to Piriform DekkeR. I think the idea behind Start Menu Shortcuts checkbox is it checks the short-cut to see if the file is available. If it isn't then it will delete the short-cut but if it is then is will leave it. Check to see if the short-cut still works.

Not any more I've switched to Avast! Home Edition 4.8.1296. AVG has been a pain in the backside for 6 months or more, it won't do any updates. I've tried a repair but that makes no difference I have to uninstall and reinstall then it takes two and a half hours to download the updates (dialup). I save all the previous updates and I tell it where to look but it always says there are no current updates in there. Avast took 40 minutes to update. Mind you the Avast is newer Jan 09, AVG Free Edition 7.5.524 was then last version that ran on Win98SE Apr 08. Avast isn't as easy to do the updates as AVG was you just clicked a button on there. Avast you have to click loads of links until you get to database then click update.

Welcome to Piriform two98. Yes this problem has been mensioned before thou I've never had any problem running any version of CC on Win98SE apart from 2.17, 2.18 and now 2.19. If I do an Analyse it starts of ok then after a minute it locks the computer. I'm not really bothered as I never Analyse anyway. Well the CCleaner 2.19.900 locks up when I Analyse just the same as the last version.

Welcome to Piriform Piri. Well normally if you have the Autocomplete Form History ticked that will remove previously used usernames. But you say you have most things ticked.

PDFCreator 0.9.8 is quite good and its free.

I donwloaded drivers from Nvidia when I had the card. When I tried to install after a rebuild the drivers were corrupt. I went back to Nvidia but they weren't listed anymore so I joined their forum and found them on their Nvidia forum, v81.98.

So do you have the different drivers for both systems?

So which system is the nVidea GeForce2 MX/MX 400 on WinXP or WinME? Thats the same graphics card as mine. Or do you have a dual boot system?

Well you can't use anything higher with Win98SE and I don't like FireFox or Opera.

Welcome to Pirifrom leogrd. You haven't really told us your operating system. You can End Task a lot of thing in Task Manager. If its an important process then you will be told. There is a good free tool you can download. It has been talked about on here. Process Explorer. I wouldn't have thought this is a CC problem, perhaps it should be moved to Software?

There is nothing weird about Win98SE only its 11 years old now. It does everything my WinXP did and more. I'm using WinZip like I've always used. Even running the downloaded exe still extracts all the files before it installs and they are still corrupted.

WinME was the worst OS that M$ ever made.

I tried renaming and deleted WgaTray.exe but it wouldn't allow you because its in use. You disable it in Task Manager by the time you've closed Task Manager and gone to Windows\System32\WgaTray.exe to delete it had started up again. When I had WinXP 2002 Pro SP2 installed I downloaded SP3 many times from many sources but when it tried to extract all files before installation why were corrupt. No I missed out Windows 3.1 and I'm still using the best one Win98SE.

Its a load of s**t. I have a genuine hologramed CD which I've had for years and it says mine is counterfeit and you can't uninstall it using the normal method. It doesn't make you life miserable you just don't trust M$, just have to do a system restore to get rid of it. We have talked about this on here before, do a search.
