  1. Welcome to Piriform kaz. Try running Recuva.exe from the Run: dialog. Find the location of Recuva.exe and add /debug at the end with a space before /debug. "C:\Program Files\Recuva\Recuva.exe" /debug When Recuva runs you will see Recuva.com v1.26.416 (debug) on the top line to show it running in debug mode to trap and write errors to the Recuva_log[1_26_416][8-7-2009_22-26].txt file. This file will be produced in in the Recuva folder. You can copy and paste its contents or post it on here.

    Duplicate files

I decompiled an old VB3 app that found all duplicate files on your drive many moons ago but I've never found a reason to use it.
  3. Well the only thing I can suggest at the moment is install a previous version until someone comes up with why this is happening.
  4. I had to do another rebuild last night because I installed DirectX 8.1 and restarted no problem. I installed DirectX 9.0c. It did a restart and wouldn't startup even in Safe Mode. I tried all the restore points but none of them would work, WinME s**t. Office doesn't show up again in Applications.
  5. You need it checked on versions 2.19.889, 2.19.900, 2.19.901 and 2.20.920. On 2.18.878 you don't need it checked and it cleans ALL cookies and on the lastest 2.21.940 you don't need it checked this bug as been fixed, well it as for me.
  6. Yes I asked about this one Dennis if you remember. Clearing Run: files Its funny it clears straight away with Win98SE but WinXP you have to restart.
  7. You can easily edit the Bold Corona. Yes I'm using WinME at the moment because I had problems trying the to a rebuild with Win98SE last week. It kept on stopping with SUWIN errors with setupx.dll. A web search brings up loads of these errors. I have another brand new Win98SE CD and that would install the first half then restarted and it would come up with an error unable to write to PRN device. I thought the PRN was the printer which isn't installed? The last time I had WinME installed it was crap and it still is.
  8. So what have you done just deleted the folder or checked in the registry?

    Recuva Folder Use

Welcome to Piriform IS360. No I'm afraid you can't you have to install with Admin rights else it won't run at all. Its a pain that is because I can?t take my Recuva folder to work because they won't install it. You can do that with CC and that will work perfectly.
  10. Well can you give a little more info. Which operating system with service pack number. Which browser(s) you are using. It sounds like you have a lot of crap running in the background that isn't need if it takes that long time to analyse or clean and it shouldn't use more CPU. Mine takes 5 seconds but I have a good os.
  11. Well as I've said before the last version that deleted ALL cookies was 2.18.878. Install that for a quick run to see what happens. I never have my Adobe Flash Player ticked.
  12. Well if you Run: regedit and do a search for any file that has been left the Works folder. Or search for the actual folder Program Files\Microsoft Works or what ever its called. This will normally mean there has been a dll file left behind thats been registered. You say you don't use Works so you can deleted any reference to that folder or files in it.
  13. Yes I'm happy to say that v2.21.940 now works as it should do on Win9x/ME without locking up when it Analyses and it clean ALL unwanted cookies.
  14. Well I'm sorry but thats why I made this topic and the latest 2.21.940 as fixed it for me. Do you have your Adobe Flash Player ticked?
  15. Well when a file is deleted its actually still there it just changes the first letter of the file name to ? which can't be seen in Explorer. Then it alters the FAT (File Allocation Table) so its not listed. The reason when you try to revover a file and you are given the option to choose a drive and folder is because if you use the same drive then you could overwrite another file you want to recover. You maybe better of just using a flash drive its quicker and safer. How does Recuva actually work?
  16. Well ALL versions of Windows after Win98SE list files that way so they are all crap if you can't adjust how you want to see files. I know you can click the Name bar and it reverses the order but why should you have too?
  17. Welcome to Piriform goom. Yes, well if you read my comments above you will find that CC 2.18.878 was that last version that cleaned ALL cookies. The later ones do if you check the Adobe Flash Player. This has been fixed on the latest CC 2.21.940. If you no longer have them on your computer how can CC delete them?
  18. Welcome to Piriform rafacker. Nothing to do with your actual problem but how are you managing to run WinXP SP3 with 256MB Ram? Your applications must run very slow? I'm using Win98SE and I have 639MB.
  19. I was just saying that CC 2.18.878 used to clean all Cookies to Delete whereas CC 2.19.889, 2.19.900, 2.19.901 and 2.20.920 didn't unless you ticked Adobe Flash Player in Applications which I never have ticked. This bug has now been fixed with 2.21.940.
  20. Thats very strange. I've done another rebuild with WinME yeserday because I couldn't get Win98SE to install without a load of errors. Office 2000 is now showing up as Office 97 as it used to in Win98SE. Its the way CC finds the info from the registry. I read topics on this problem a long time ago. Thanks for your comments guys.
  21. Hi all. I had to do a rebuild the other night. Now in the years previous it always showed Office 97 in Applications even though I'm using Office 2000 that isn't the problem. I have CC 2.21.940 installed. Now with Office 2000 installed it doesn't show any Office version in Applications only MS Office Picture Manager thats because I use Photo Editor. Every other rebuild that I've done shows Office 97 but not this time. At work I have Office 2003 installed but it always shows Office 2003 and XP. I don't suppose any one else has found this?
  22. Welcome to Piriform lunter. Now I've never seen that error but I'm using a different OS and the newest version download yesterday works as it should do. Now that error is a Visual Studio error message that isn't the normal Windows error message where it want to send a report to Microsoft is it? To check if Recuva is causing an error run it in debug mode. Start Run: find where you installed Recuva then add /debug at the end with a space in between Recuva.exe and /debug .../Recuva/Recuva.exe /debug this should produce and a log file in the Recuva folder which you can post back here.
  23. I use WinRAR 3.60 it will open the file but it won't extract it shows this error C:\Temp\embedded_INIs_v2[1].21.zip: The archive is either in unknown format or damaged I'm sure it MrT reposts it it will be fine. There was a problem with the zip file a while again and he reposted after a few comments.
  24. Why should you need 7 zip to open a zip file. Its always worked before though I do recall another bad zip file a while ago. Thanks Andavari that one worked as it should do. No I don't use 7 zip though I did install it once just to try it out. It didn't do anything that WinZip did so I removed it. Thanks again.
  25. Sorry MrT its a bad zip again. I've tried it 5 times and still won't open.
