  1. I downloaded it the other day but I haven't tried to install it yet. I can't post the link as its not allowed on here.
  2. Welcome to Priform flommedrengen. I've said this for years an help file should come with CC. Now TwistedMetal made a BeginnersGuide.chm help file but I can't find the link at the moment. There is also the online guide which if you haven't got a web connection is useless. Now I expect this chm file hasn't been updated for a while but if you want it posting let me know. There is also a BeginnersGuide.chm for Recuva well there have been 2 versions for that app.
  3. Welcome to Pirifrom Chris. Well I use Adobe 9.1 and it still works as it should do after a clean and my Adobe 9.0 is ticked in Applications. Adobe Reader 9.1 Adobe PhotoShop CS3 is still ticked but I uninstalled that a couple of weeks ago. Windows Live Messenger is ticked and I've never installed it and don't use it. I use MSN Messenger whether that classes as the same which is a pain in backside on XP.
  4. I'm afraid it back MrG. I've just done a Registry check and its asking for the disk to be inserted again. This time its showng up with ActiveX and Class Issues ticked as before and MUI Cache ticked.
  5. Yes I wasn't to impressed with ClamWin when I tried it for 6 months. It kept saying I had a batch file that was a virus. How can a batch file be a virus it just a set of instructions to be followed by code. It may execute an exe to carry out these instructions in the code but thats all. But what do you expect for free?

    Vista

Everyone is entitled to there opinion. A web browser Ctrl+F search is a lot simpler than a file or folder search Tunerz. I wouldn't mind if the search used the original search function as used on Win9x. You get a seperate box up to search for something not not converting Explorer into a search engine. Thank you Mary.
  7. Sorry I forgot to ask what system you are using. As Augeas says you could be using Vista. Please post your comp spec in your next post along with service pack number and the web browser you use? I didn't this Vista used c:\programdata\ for Program Files?

    Vista

Yes hazel thats what forums are about stating your opinion and thats my opinion. Vista users have adapted to the search because they probably don't know any difference. Yes Corona I read another topic today talking about why its called CCleaner. Don't sound so shocked.

    Vista

No its not better its crap. There is a default search button on all Windows systems from Win95 on. I think it works on Vista as well on your desktop press the F3 button and the search dialogue should appear just the same as in Explorer. Now my limited experience of Vista is the Explorer layout is also crap. With all Windows system up to Vista Explorer shows Folders in the left-hand window and Files in the right-hand window. On Vista if you click on a folder name the whole window show the files and you have to click the back button to see the folders again. Now I believe the the default memory for Vista is about 2GB thats probably because it runs more crap thats not really needed than WinXP. Now another thing that has annoyed me with Windows since WinME is the Explorer short-cut. To me the Explorer short-cut should show a list of all folders on the drive. With WinME and on it always goes to My Documents. If I want to see My Documents I click on Documents\My Documents. Now I live in Explorer in fact when Windows starts up I goto Explorer because I have a short-cut in Startup. Now for all you users that like Explorer and waht to see it properly? Create a short-cut for Explorer and put it in your QuickLauch. Right-click on this short-cut and goto Properties and copy and paste this text into it. C:\Windows\explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\ Now if your Windows folder is WinNT then use C:\WINNT\explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\ I know the default one uses %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe you can use that ands add the /n,/e,C:\ switches at the end I'm not bothered. When you click on the quicklauch you will see the proper Explorer starting at the root drive. If you system is built on another drive then just change the drive letter to waht ever drive its on. C:\ E:\ F:\ G: or what ever. You will see how much better it looks. Now there is another annoying thing about WinXP Explorer. When you click on a folder name it expands all sub folders at the same time. I know that you can keep the - key pressed as you click so it doesn't expand the folders but that also crap. If I what to see the sub folder I click the (+) symbol what could be easier.
  10. Welcome to Piriform wood. No CC doesn't delete app files e.g. AVG or Windows Defender. When these programs do updates they normally leave behind temporary files which are no use. On the Applications tab you will see a list of all important apps that are installed. If you don't want and AVG files clean just remove the tick. If you do an Analyse first then after its finished right-click on the Results windows and click View results details. You will see a list of all files to be deleted, just check there location on your drive. None of them will be in Program Files folder normally.
  11. Yes the Error No Disk has now been fixed, thanks MrG.

    Google Maps

You haven't stated which version of IE though. Google Maps working perfectly on my IE7.0 after a clean with 2.23.993.
  13. Welcome to Piriform Phoenix. What you haven't said is where you downloaded CC from. I personally wouldn't trust any site apart from the ones in Andavari post, CCleaner homepage, or from FileHippo.com. We've never had this problem because we ALWAYS use the CCleaner homepage or FileHippo.
  14. I thought it might Andavari but it doesn't show this in the but it does in CCleaner help Recuva help and Defraggler help it does.
  15. Yes Dennis I'm supprised you haven't use Recuva before even just to see what it does. Thanks for the tip on checking "Restore Folder Structure". I've always used it without being checked. Now there is something about Recuva that always puzzles me. I installed CC, Defraggler and Recuva on a friend's laptop. I showed her the settings for CC. I showed her how DF works and I showed her how Revuva works. I did a scan and it shows 22,000 plus files it had found. I thought because DF had never been used and her drive was like a cullender after I Defraged the drive it would find less files. It didn't it still showed 22,000 plus files.
  16. Ok MrT I've had this problem which I've talked about in the Announcements. Once the message shows I have to click Continue 3 or 4 times before it clears. If I uncheck "ActiveX and Class issues" it doesn't show just the same as Copper Orange has said. So how come the Cancel doesn't cancel the scan and Continue doesn't continue with the scan? It does continue scanning after the message has disappeared. I've asked this before but no one has answered. Will CCleaner run under /debug mode? Recuva and Defraggler do so why not CC? I've tried it but it doesn't leave a debug log file behind.
  17. Yes I get that error when I use 2.23.993 as I've stated before in Announcements. I haven't tried MrT's check list because I've only just seen that link. I will try it and post my results in that topic.
  18. No problem. Have you tried adding that folder into the Include option?
  19. The last time i upgraded my pc was 4 years ago. But that doesn't answer Glenn's question. He doesn't want to know how long ago he wants to know your hardware spec. CPU speed, RAM Memory, Hard drive size, Graphics card what operating system you are using at the moment? Buy a new one they don't cost that much today as I've already said.
  20. Welcome to Piriform ramehrer. Yes install CC v2.21.940 you don't need to right-click on that version, only if you want to Save to text file what it removes.
  21. Well as you say you can embed files into an exe but I can't see how you can embed files into a zip. The fact that we can't extract MrT's files beats me.
  22. Thanks Pluto. Well I've always wondered if these embedded INIs are so important. Why aren't they added to a normal CC install? They are only 54kb so thats not going to increase the installation package that much is it?
  23. Well considering we don't know where you live because your profile is bare. There are a lot of companies that build computers for you. You tell them what you want to use it for mainly and they will suggest different packages at different prices. Now my 15 years experience with IBM type compatibles as they were known. The main part of a computer that gernerally cost the most is the CPU processor. You can get an Intel Celeron M processor 1.6GHz for ?23 or Intel Core i7 965 Quad Core, 3.20GHz for ?750. Now the CPU is the engine of the computer so you will need a good engine to start with along with the MotherBoard to plug the CPU into. All other hardware items can be added to or changed later on. First of you have to set your max price for this computer. If its mainly a games machine you need this for then I would go with the fastest processor you can afford and a reasonably expensive graphics card. Hard drive size again depends on what you are budgeting for on this computer. You can get a 500GB drive for ?40. You can actually get external USB hard drives to store all important data on just in case something happens to your main drive. I bought on a couple of days ago, 1TD SATA II USB external case and drive for ?70. Or you can split your main drive into different partitions. I want to do that with my 500GB drive but I haven't found an easy method yet. Which sound card, well I've always avoided sound cards that are built into the motherboard. Why, because if anything goes wrong you have to buy a seperate sound card to plug in and therefore that space is wasted on the motherboard. Now the problem you have is that modern computers have a limited number of PCI slots. These are slots on the motherboard where you can plug in any extra devices that you need. e.g. TV card, sound card, modem etc. I only have 2 PCI slots. Memory will depend on the operating sytem your going to use. WinXP to me the minimum is 500MB with Vista then minumum is 2GB. Vista hogs memory. I've just had a new computer 5 weeks ago from OverClockers. Now if you live in the UK then that isn't a problem. I had a DELL monitor but they didn't recommend any other DELL products.
  24. Actually I used to use Download Accelerator Plus 5.3.9.6 because I like the way it operates and it never changed my home page. I've tried the newer versions and they are crap in comparison, plus I have the crack for it.
