I like the CCleaner style (blue) but its not a CCleaner only forum is it? How come Piriform 2009 isn't in the list of options. Was this added recently? Edit: I've just read the new forum skin post.

Welcome to Piriform stymie. First of you haven't said which operating system with service pack you are using. Are you saying that something has removed the entry for Windows Media Player 11 and Windows Media Format 11 Runtime from the Control Panel - Add/Remove and CC Tools\Uninstall? As already mensioned WinXP installs WMP 9.0 by default. I downloaded 10.0 and 11.0 just to try the upgrade. I installed 10.0 and ran a video but it was very choppy. I installed 11.0 to see it that was any better no it wasn't. I uninstalled 11.0 which put 10.0 back in its place. I unistalled 10.0 which put 9.0 back in its place. Does it through up any errors if you try to install 11.0 again? The uninstall string for WMP 11 is C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\Setup_wm.exe /Uninstall Paste this in the Run: button.

Welocme to Piriform normsta. Well If you only want to use the English language just delete the Lang sub folder in the CCleaner folder. Then it will only show English in Options\Settings combobox. The same thing applies to Recuva as well.

Welcome to Piriform patches. It would be nice to know your system. Which operating system with service pack number. Which browser(s) you are using. First of where did you download CCleaner from? When you installed the default folder is C:\Program files\Cleaner\ did you specify another location? All as CC puts on your drive is CCleaner.exe, unicows.dll, uninst.exe and the Lang sub folder by default. You could try uninst.exe to uninstall CC if you what too. So if you find the folder where yu have installed just delete the folder and reinstall.

As I've said before Jean 2.17 used to lock the computer when I did a Analyse. I installed 2.18 the other day and did an Analyse and it didn't lockup. I've just done an Analyse and its locked up again. I'm not really bother about that because I never use Analysis.

I disagree with that statement. Its like using a virus checker to scan your drive and when it finds something what are you going to do with it. When you analyse it will show a list of files or folder that need to be cleaned but you can't just right-click on that file and just select clean that file/folder. There is nothing wrong with CC and Win98SE.

Well you're saying it doesn't analyse correctly and I'm saying it locks up when I analyse. Either way it didn't function correctly. My v2.18 show loads of bytes. I generally only use CC once a week unless a new version comes out in the week, like this week.

Well every version of DirectX that I've installed 7.0, 8.0, 8.1 and 9.0 have all rebooted after installation thats the norm.

Since your last comment in a few topics Jean I said that CCleaner 2.17.853 locked my computer up when I did an Analyse. I've downloaded and run CCleaner 2.18.878 and that does an Analyse without any problem now. Maybe the bug has been fixed.

Well As I've said before I've downloaded DirectX 9.0c (Mar 09) from FileHippo and when you try to install the files are corrupt, I knew that would happen. I've had this problem for a couple of years the last decent download was DirectX 9.0c (Nov 07). I've also download from Microsoft that that file is corrupt as well.

The VB6 RunTime files were only need with v1.xxx of CC then it was compiled used C++. I downloaded CCleaner 2.18.878 today. Installed it and ran it just using the Analyse at first and it did an Analyse without locking the computer so we are back to normal now.

Welcome to Piriform m123. Well I've run all versions apart from the one that came out today 2.18 and every version has run correctly on my Win98SE apart from 2.17.853. It runs and cleans ok but if I click the Analyse button which I've never found a use for it analyses for a couple of minutes then locks the computer up. This has been mensioned in other topics. Other Win98 users have said that 1.41 is the last version that run ok on Win98. You haven't actually said with newer version you are trying I'm presuming you mean 2.18.

Welcome to Piriform Martin. Well to tell you the truth I've only just started to use the ini option. I've always gone into the registry and saved the settings to a reg file. Its a bit more convenient using the ini, I also use the Recuva ini option.

Yes Corona you have asked about this before. the file you downloaded from FileHippo is a Windows self extracting cab file. Before you double-click the file make a new folder on your drive called it DX or what ever. When it asks for the folder to extract to finf the DX folder with the browse button and extarct all files into there. After the are extracted got the goto the DX folder and run Dxsetup.exe to install. I've said before the DX9 that I've downloaded from FileHippo are always corrupt when you try to install. The last decent download of DX9 was Nov07.

Welcome to Priform moeha. Well I've never heard of this problem when you start Word. Startup Word and use Tools\Options and the User Information tab, put your details in there. Click ok then go back to Tools\Options and User Information tab to see if its reatained this info. If it has then OK again close Word. Open Word again and see what it asks for this time. Now this info only shows in Word I don't know why its asking for it when Excel starts. Thats what you do with Office 2000, 2003 I can't really say about 2007.

Well the systray icon had been available for the past couple of versions and it enabled if you use Options\Advanced and Minimize to System Tray ticked. If you say I'm sorry, i see that feature in v2.17.853, for me is new then you say you right, i don't see in the options, the option to put CC in systray. I don't know why you can't see this if your using v2.17.853.

I would think that the uninstall of Windows Internet Explorer works on the same principle as Andavari has stated. Add/Remove, remove IE8 and if you had IE7 installed before you will see a note to reinstall a previous version or do a repair on the existing version.

Wellcome to Pifirforum sMk. It only goers to the systray when CC in minimised. Thats if you have the Minimize to System Tray ticked in Options\Advanced. Once its in the systray you just double-click the icon to restore it again. Your English is understandable I wouldn't worry about that.

Ok I downloaded Process Explorer 11.33 because it says Windows (All Versions) but it doesn't work, no errors but nothing happens. I downloaded Process Explorer 10.21 and that does work. I noticed that I have avgamsvr.exe running in the background, it doesn't show in Task Manager. I don't have AVG running all the time whats he point. Thats how come it found a virus in the Temporary Internet Files 6 moths ago and it deleted it. I've often wondered how it could do that. Thats a great tip rr1165 thanks for showing.

Welcome to Piriform Jean. Well the Analyze I don't really use I don't see the point (I have used it 6 months ago to see what it does). You can't select certain items/folder to delete it just cleans the items that have been set. I've just tried an Analyze and it starts of ok then after a couple of minutes it locks the computer, reset to restart. Tried it again and the exact same fault.

I see that Recuva 1.25.409 is out but MrG hasn't told us?

Thanks for the info rr1165. I don't know where you downloaded your v10.21 when Microsoft only offer Process Monitor v2.04. And a web search doesn't show anything.

Your right Hazel I forgot the change it to Show All then it does. I tried showing Davie's posts but it brought up an error when I said Show All again. Never mind problem Resolved, thanks again Hazel you are a god send.
