  1. Hi. I've just done a search for Davie because he posted a good link for Tweaking WinXP. I've saved this link at home but I wanted to reference it here. I know this was posted last year sometime. I look on each forum and there are only 2 pages of posts which is basically February. Whats happened to all the others? How can we get to them. All the forums that I used have pages back to the beginning when that forum started.
  2. Mal'Content what system are you using? Thats a great news. Its the most annoying feature on WinXP. I downloaded a reg file from a link that Davie supplied that was supposed to do that on WinXP but it doesn't work.
  3. I honestly don't know why only v2.14.763 will only work correctly on both of your Win98SE machines, the lastest does what it says on the tin. Long time no speak Aage, where have you been for 2 months? I got my 512Mb of eBay I could have told you that if you would have asked. I could have also told you that anything more than 650Mb won't work on Win98SE unless you do a bit of weaking. I actually did a search on there this week for PC100 and there are loads of vendors at reasonable prices.
  4. Welcome to Piriform Bindy. Well I've been using CC for two and half years all versions on Win98SE and everyone works as it should do. I think we need a little more detail. Web Browser and version used. Anti-virus and version used. Adobe Flash Player version used. Are you cleaning Temporary Internet Files, Cookies? Are you saving any Cookies? If you not then look in Windows\Cookies and it should be empty. In Options\Advanced is Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older that 48 hours, ticked? For a simple check just copy and paste an folder in Program Files into the C:\Windows\Temp folder something with a large quantity of files. Make sure you only copy don't move. Before you do that is the Windows\Temp folder empty? Run CC, check in Windows\Temp that all files and folder have been deleted and see if it shows a files quantity this time.
  5. You can do this yourself. Most apps that appear in the systray start when Windows starts up. Run CC and Tools\Startup and disable the apps you don't need. Do a restart and check what else is running in the systray. If anything else is running that you don't want to see the run Task Manager and End Task some features that you recognise the name. If its a vital service then Windows won't let you End Task it.
  6. Yes, it used to work but it doesn't now. And I'm asking why.
  7. Welcome to Piriform bossox. My company used to install CC on all machine because I had an old version on mine I asked them to please update it. The reply was CC is for private use only and its also a registry cleaner which they don't like. So I put the CC folder on a flash drive and set it to use the ini option. I copied the folder into my personal folder on the server and I run it from there, st**f them. You are lucky if your company gives you admin rights to install anything, ours doesn't. You are better of checking with your company just to make sure.
  8. LCD pay attention. WinME is a Win9x system. I've used CC when I had WinME installed and it works perfectly.

    Latest version

Now we get a fuller picture. Uninstalling and reinstalling CC isn't going to help you I'm afraid.

    Latest version

Welcome to Piriform Specy. Well I've used all versions of CC and it does exactly what it says on the tin. I have my Autocomplete Form History ticked and it still remember all my 50 sites that need a username and password. Which browser are you using?
  11. And why not? I've used all versions of CC on my Win98SE without any problems. What errors are showing on WinME?
  12. Well the dll the you mension MSIMG32.DLL is a standard dll installed when Win98SE is installed. It has nothing to do with CC. So why did you say you were using 2.15?
  13. Welcome to Piriform rr1165. Well this topic goes back a long way, what is you point exactly? Haven't you tried the newest version?
  14. Well its a confusing statement, if its free space then there's nothing on it to delete.
  15. Well Andy I've always used CC on Win98SE on a 20GB HDD without ANY problems. I not sure what you mean by free space?
  16. Well Dao350.dll is used in older VB and maybe C++ databases so I don't know why its showing that.
  17. Welcome to Piriform Vanadis. I don't think anything bad will happen providing the save a backup of what it removes from the registry. If your system does crash then startup in Safe Mode and double-click the backup reg files to put the removed info back in the registry. If push comes to shove do a system restore before you ran CC. P.S. Your English is good so I wouldn't worry about that.
  18. Recently used icons/short-cuts I don't use because I like to see the Classic menu, sorry. So your saying that 2.16 used to clean them and 2.17 doesn't?
  19. Welcome to piriform jetmech. Do you mean Windows Explorer Run (in Start Menu)? Can you provide a little more info. Operating System with Service Pack number, names and versions of browsers used? I've never had a problem with this function on Win98SE or WinXP 2002 SP2.

    Visual Basic 6

Well Andavari I've run VB apps of Vista without installing anything and they work perfectly. I've never tried to install VB6 of Vista but I know some people have problems. Duke have a search on here to see if other users have a similar problem. Another link about VB on Vista on VBForums and here. The basis RunTime Files are already installed on Win2k/XP/Vista. It sounds like Duke is having a problem installing VB initially. I presume Duke that you are trying to install VB as an Admin? You can unpack anything from Microsoft with WinZip just right-click on the file and select Open with WinZip. 24. How long ago did you last used CC? What version number were you using? Yes hecto CC is still compatible with Win98 the only this that isn't is Defraggler which it never has been. We have asked before why can't Defraggler be made compatible with Win98 but MrG has never answered this one.
  25. Welcome to Piriform tornado. No it doesn't delete the folder it just deletes all files and sub folders in this folder. The folder is used by a lot of Windows apps there it needs to be there.
