  1. The last time I used CCleaner, I found that after installing a new program, it would clean out the MRU list for that program without my checking any options/boxes. I don't mind checking all the options of a cleaning utility before using it the first time, but I don't want to have to do this each time I use it.
  2. Thanks for the reply. If I understand you correctly, whenever I install a new program, I will have to locate the profile directory that has the MRU for that program, and then place it in the exclude area? I was hoping that there would be some setting like "Don't delete files in new programs unless specifically requested" or perhaps an option to only check was was deleted the previous time the Ccleaner was used....
  3. Can Ccleaner be set to NOT examine newly-installed programs, and delete their temp and recent file lists, unless I check the boxes? I've had problems with Ccleaner in the past, whereby after I installed a program, it would automatically remove those files, even if I hadn't checked the boxes. Sorry if this isn't clear; I'm not sure how to describe it. Any help would be much appreciated. I did look in the Piriform Docs page but didn't see anything that answered this question.
  4. Thanks for the reply, Dennis. My point (probably didn't make this clear in the initial post) was that CCleaner did this by default, and after much time was spent in troubleshooting, I realized that CCleaner was the program erasing my recent files. But I'm just not in the habit of opening up Ccleaner after every installation to make sure that it won't erase stuff I don't want erased. Is there an option to prevent Ccleaner from this behavior?
  5. The last time I used Ccleaner I found that it was deleting the recent files lists on Office 2007--without my having checked anything. Is there any way to make sure that it won't automatically delete files of newly-installed programs, without my checking the boxes?
  6. If by "listing box" you mean the window that appears below the blue bar, then no there is nothing in that area indicating anything is being cleaned up. I believe I have stumbled upon a workaround--I almost always have Firefox open when I run CCleaner, so I checked CCleaner not to clean up any Firefox files. I have since run it 3 times and not found this problem again. Perhaps having a program in its cleanup list still running, was causing it to stall??? Don't know but its a possibliity. Anyways, I didn't realize that CCleaner has a secure delete feature. THat will save me a d/l (eraser) next time I sell/donate a computer. Thanks.
  7. I have found this problem with CCleaner 2.07 as well as an earlier version of CCleaner (2.x)--on two separate computers (both running XP). I will click on the button on the lower right corner that says "Run Cleaner," and CCleaner will obviously start, as the blue band across the top appears. However, once that band reaches the right side, it starts up again from the left, as if it is cleaning up my computer for the first time. It will do this interminably, and so I then close out CCleaner, and then start it up again. ANywhere from the 2nd to the 4th time, it will then complete the cycle and give me the final report (as to exactly what files were cleaned out, and how big they were). The computer with 2.07 on it has been doing this for quite a while, perhaps even since the time that 2x came out, through several updates. Any suggestions?
