  1. So it`s not just me. I`ll reinstall the FF2.0 version, not the 2.0.0.1 and see if that`s any better. Been waiting for the V3 to come out, but new versions don`t seem to be improvements. If I need it, where do I get the 1.5? Thanks
  2. Thanks Anthony, might just be a case of reinstalling it.
  3. I think you guys are probably right. Trying these vids in full screen makes them unwatchable. Thanks.
  4. Is anyone having any problems with Firefox 2.0.0.1.? I`ve had a few hangups recently, and was wondering if I would be better off with FF 2. Never had problems with previous version, (apart from forum access, but that`s another story). This latest version is starting to remind me of IE., which I`m using at the moment because FF 2.0.0.1 has just hung again. Thanks
  5. Thanks for all the replies guys. Just my query about F-Secure removal, and coincidentally, I installed zSoft uninstaller last night to try out, as Total Uninstall keeps leaving a lot of stuff in the registry, although it does show the paths to the errors it leaves. I noticed that zSoft also uninstalls stuff that you haven`t actually used it to install. What I mean is, it displays all the various nooks and crannies that each program has wriggled itself into. Does that mean that it is a better uninstaller than other programs, or that it just displays more? Want to try to remove F-Secure (when it runs out), as cleanly as possible. Am I making sense here?

    9,100 results! Wow.

Yep Woody, I realised that after posting. Good pic.
  8. Thanks for the quick reply and the link. Didn`t know that shortcut, but I can`t see anything relating to F-Secure. If I`m looking at the right place (processes) the biggest user is Firefox. I assume F-Secure is split up into lots of seperate processes, with different descriptions? Been looking at that as well as Antivir and AVG from places like rridgleys pinned threads. Edit: Just installed ProcessExplorer, puts company names to all processes. Excellent, thanks. Edit2: Thanks for the link.
  9. Humpty, I`m fascinated by this stuff., But it`s having the time to watch all those videos. They are long. Would like to put them on dvd and watch at leisure. Anyone? A good program for downloading this?
  10. Two questions in one really, which I think are more software than security. Hence posting in this thread. After recently doing a format and reinstall, I decided to bow to the better judgement of others, and move away from Norton. Yep, it pains me to admit this. No complaints about it`s effectiveness, as you can`t get any more effective than keeping my pc clean. However, everyone, almost without exception, comes down on Norton as being a huge user of resources. So, instead of reinstalling Norton, which was 90 day free with pc, I installed F-Secure, which was 60 day free with broadband supplier. 1: Have I ditched one resource hogger for another? (I am planning on going freeware when it runs out), and is F-Secure as difficult to remove as Norton? i.e. proper removal tool required. 2: I assume I need a piece of software to see how much memory various applications are using when running? If so, which would you reccomend? Thanks

Just read that Woody. They`re all over the planet in one form or another.

Well, the subject has certainly engendered some healthy discussion, and I unreservedly apologise if I have caused any offence to you or your family CaPMan. There are good and bad examples in every youth culture, but in this instance the bad is without doubt in the majority. Which is probably why your kids use it as a "friendly" insult. The kids seen running away from my 3 week old Mazda6 2 nights ago, after running something sharp and metallic down the side, were hooded, white tracksuit wearing chavs. And the description given to the police was, as you can imagine, pretty useless. That incident was actually the motivation for this topic. rridgely, where did you get that pic? Did you draw it yourself ? I might print that out and take it down to the local nick. (police station). Tell them thats who did my car.

An English term describing the youth culture that forms the bedrock of our modern democratic and free thinking society. These stalwarts of sophistication and tolerance must have their equivalents in other parts of the world. Would be interesting to learn the various descriptive names and modes of dress attributed to this culture in your little corner of the globe. See Urban Dictionary: Chav I was particularly taken by their "most desired" mode of transport. See picture #30 in above guide. Please follow links in text for more valuable information.
  14. Mine at the moment: Fantasy fan of course.
  15. He`s also one of the funniest guys around. His speech might be slow, but he`s still got one hell of a sharp wit.
  16. I knew that. Just testing to see if everyone`s alert.
  17. Came across this site tonight: finetune Stuck Sepultura in the search box just for the hell of it, and came up with a lot af info and tracks. I`m probably the last one to find this site, as usual, but it is the slickest thing I`ve seen, and it`s well worth exploring. I`ve found just about every artist or genre I`ve put in the search field, and you can listen to full streams or 30sec samples first. This is worth a look for anyone. Regards
  18. Strange . I`ve just gone to that link, clicked on "McAfee Sucks > more info", and was taken straight to the "Web Safety Rating" page. Tried it a number of times. Whichever way I do it, "more info" or left click "view site details" on the McAfee icon, I do not go to the commercial page. Tried it a number of times with different sites, and goes direct each time. Tried FF and IE. Same result. Don`t know what you guys are doing different to me, but I do not get the ad page for the pro version. Regards
  19. McAfee must have heard us talking, because I`ve just gone looking for a couple of red flagged sites. (which are not difficult to find). On both sites, left click > view site details took me straight to McAfee without the detour. Give it a try before binning. Regards Edit: My son tried Comodo when he got his Laptop recently. Couldn`t wait to get it off. Played all sorts of havoc.
  20. In a similar vein, I posted in Lounge > Oscar Nominations > post#17, and although it is there, it does not show up on the main topic screen. XanaTos112, who I was replying to, probably has no idea it`s there. Until now. Regards
  21. I see the appeal in that, occasionally being an alcohol fueled operator. Regards
  22. I`ve never sat on a game that long, which is the reason I`ve never finished Gran Tourismo 4. Le Mens 24 hours is a cracking track, and the sensation of speed going down the 5 kilometre straight was pretty amazing, but doing it for 24hrs, don`t think my eyes could stand that. And doing it in time X 3 mode would be too boring. Letting the PS2 drive ? Might as well not bother playing. Checked it out, and I read every thing I could find on Greek Mythology when I was a small kid. I say that because I`m a big kid now. Game looks awsome. Had that game in my hands quite a few times, and never got it. Be really cheap now, might check it out. Regards
  23. Had a look at Foobar, and if you are into manipulating Audio/Video, then it does appear to be as you so succinctly put it, omnipotent. But 1000`s of radio stations, and the look and good sound of Winamp is fine for me at the moment. Tried a different genre tonight, and had a good hour listening to MegaRock Radio:- Alice in Chains, Velvet Revolver, Sepultura, Slipknot, Brides of Destruction. The abiding memory of that hour was Brides of Destruction screaming "Shut the Fxxxk Up" for what seemed like an unduly long time. Good job we all have different tastes. And you`ll be surprised to hear that I actually enjoyed a couple of bands tonight. Regards
  24. Hazel, a lot of unhappy people with Skype. But is this unique to Skype, or do you think Microsoft do something similar with Live Messenger. In fact could any company do this? I`m using Live Messenger at the moment because it`s all my son has access to until he gets back to the UK. We normally use Skype. As far as an ordinary mortal like myself goes, there could be allsorts going on between my pc and the ether, and I would have absolutely no idea. And to be honest, sometimes ignorance is bliss. Regards
  25. Yep USB 2.0 Might be straying slightly off topic here, but was having a problem with one or two applications, including Windows Live Messenger yesterday. Process of elimination led me to the flash drive I forgot to take out. Took it out (properly), and problems setting up webcam with Live Messenger disappeared. Is this because I had two USB devices active at the same time ? Regards
