Thanks for the report. It is reading the version numbers slightly wrong, and so updating them when it isn't needed. This behaviour has been noticed and has been flagged up to be fixed. Could you please clarify just what softwares you are seeing updated? We know that it's happening with Recuva and Speccy, and one other application has been reported so far.

If you look at the version numbers you can see that they are in fact the same but the number is being parsed (read) slightly differently. It can happen sometimes when an app internally stores the version number slightly differently to the 'published' version number. It's been reported for attention which usually happens fairly quickly, just ignore it for now.

Try updating your Antivirus. There was a new CCleaner version released on Wednesday and sometimes Antivirus apps can take a few days to recognise the new CCleaner version. As said that's most probably the 'Smart Cleaning' option that is cleaning up temporary files after you have finished playing. The quickest way to stop that happening is to turn Smart Cleaning off. (Or you could set it to let more junk accumulate before Cleaning, or go more advanced and make the Warcraft files 'excludes').

I'm not sure if that was an attempt at spamming - the links and attachment were not needed and add nothing to the post. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt this once. If the phone number on a webpage keeps changing then it's probably a sign that the page has been hacked and someone is trying to lure people to phone the wrong place. Inform the owner of the webpage to look at their security.

Where did you buy CCleaner from? If it was a genuine purchase then it's possible that you mistyped your email address when buying. It can happen to all of us. Send an email to support@ccleaner.com explain what has happened and they should be able to sort you out.

Offers come and offers go. Sometimes they are there for a limited period, like the Black Friday one. Some are a one-time-only offer that you have to accept when it pops up on your screen because it wont be offered again.

Simply install CCleaner on to the new computer and register it using your existing licence key, then uninstall it from the old computer. Speccy hasn't had an update for a number of years now, so it can struggle with newer technologies. There is supposed to be an update in the pipeline but just when it wil happen is another question?

"Clean Everywhere" simply means that the Pro version can clean all user accounts on the computer when used by an admin user. The Free version only cleans the user account that it is installed on. That could be the problem. What I would try is in File Explorer move (Cut & Paste) the whole Recuva folder to C:\Program Files\ and then try uninstalling it again.

it doesn't really matter where you post, we'll move it is really necessary, but you should only post a question once. 2 posts with the same question get harder to follow who has already answered with what, so I've removed one of the duplicate posts and moved this one to CCleaner Help. You shouldn't use a Drive Wiper on a SSD, here's why not: Drive Wiper is not a regular use cleaning tool. It is only realy of use if you are selling/giving the drive to someone else. It overwrites all traces of your files that were on the drive but have been deleted and are no longer in the recycle bin - so that the new user has no chance of recovering your old files using recovery software. Drive Wipers write junk (typically 0's or X's) to the whole of the free space on a drive, to overwrite any old file data that may be there. And that is only neeeded with spinning, mechanical drives - it isn't needed with SSDs. In fact using a Drive Wiper regularly on a SSD can shorten it's life. That's not a big problem with modern SSDs that have a greater lifetime of write operations, but it's still something to avoid. Without getting technical it is because of TRIM. Once a file is deleted from a SSD, and the recycle bin emptied, there is very little chance of recovering it with any recovery tool unless you have disabled TRIM on the drive. You can't recover old data from a SSD once a TRIM has been carried out, so there is no need to drive wipe it. Modern SSDs TRIM regularly but it can be a while since one was carried out, and if so then files deleted since the last TRIM might be able to be recovered with software. But rather than drive wiping just run Windows built in (or a 3rd party) Optmiser/Defragmenter to force a TRIM of the SSD and make old data unrecoverable. You can set Windows to Optimise on a schedule, daily, weekly, or monthly, to make sure that your SSD is regularly TRIM'ed. PS. The drive in that screenshot hadn't been Optimised/Trimmed for 23 days so the task would have gone to a higher priority as per the settings. (I did a manual one while I had it open anyway).

Do you delete a lot of (old) files during this photo editing? If you run Custom Clean in CCleaner, you can just do an Analyze, how much does it say that there is in the recycle bin? Onedrive is a funny beast. Even after uninstalling it so that it won't sync to the cloud you still have a local Ondrive folder in your user profile and some scheduled tasks for it including a Startup task. CCleaner Performance Optimise can put those scheduled tasks to sleep for you. Here's mine in Task Manage'rs Startup tab, Onedrive was uninstalled long ago, the startup task is still there but I knew about it and disabled it myself - CCleaner just does that disabling for you (if you tell it to).

Try changing these 2 settings in Edge:

In CCleaner go to Options>Advanced and ticK 'Skip User Account Control warning'. That will (should) stop Windows asking for permission to make changes each time you launch CCleaner

That was 5 years ago back in 2017 and it was quickly shut down within days. So there is no way that your 1-year old computer could be affected. Unless you somehow got hold of a 5 year old compromised installer from somewhere, and then installed it, and as you can imagine you are not going to find one of those easily. Even if you did all that the old compromise would no longer work, there is nothing for it to do or connect to anymore. It didn't realy affect any home users, other than all the fuss at the time. The bad guys were not interested in CCleaner or it's customers. The breach was aimed at big, - Microsoft, Cisco, Samsung, Sony, Google, big, - tech companies to try and steal some of their development secrets. The (probably Chinese government) bad guys had just used CCleaner as a vehicle to get to those big companies because CCleaner is so widely used, even at those big companies.

Firstly - If your trash keeps increasing then you probably have a corrupted recycle bin. It's fairly common and is easy to fix if it is corrupted, running the fix won't harm anything so it's worth doing anyway. They don't suddenly stop coming back after a number of cleans, it just seems like that for a minute or two because Windows pauses recreating them to try and work out why they keep being deleted. I'm not sure what else to suggest, other than 'Feature version' updates to Windows will usually remove such leftovers. Win 11 (and Win 10) is due a feature update to version 22H2 probably in October. You could always try reinstalling Win 11, but that seems pretty drastic for what is a minor issue.

What you describe does sound like a corrupted bin as Hazelnut says. Just a thought: As this is CCleaner Pro then do you have it set to clean other user accounts? (If there is more than one). Each user account will have it's own bin.

It's something that I have never used before, giving it a quick try I see what you mean. TBH I'm not sure if it is designed to restrict searches to a particular pathname rather than the whole drive, because there is another way to do what you are looking for: Just use *.jpg and search the whole drive - it doesn't take long. Then in the list of jpgs found highlight the ones in the required pathname. You can right click on any one in that pathname and 'Highlight folder' from the context menu that pops up. Once highlighted it will show on the drive map where the highlighted files are located. You can right-click again on any one of the highlighted fies to defrag or move them. If you want to do more than one sub-folder/file, but not others, then you can 'Check Highlighted' and then go and highlight some others and 'Check' those as well, (or just click the checkbox for each file), then work with checked rather than highlighted files. Have a bit of a play and you'll soon see how the highlighting and checking works.

Just to be sure, can you tell us: Your CCleaner version. You Windows version. What browser you are using.
