  1. it's just one of an ongoing list of issues with recent releases. for the moment, to stop that particular new feature, you will need to revert back to an earlier version, available from FileHippo.
  2. don't forget to do both CCleaner.exe and CCleaner64.exe
  3. g'day Chris and welcome. below is a link to double check your license key and one to raise a support ticket but it sounds like you may have already; use this link to get the key resent to your email; https://www.piriform.com/support/license-lookup or a support ticket can be raised from here; https://piriform.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new make sure you copy/paste the key in, as O (for Oscar), 0 (zero), I (uppercase i) & l (lowercase L) are easy to mix up. if no luck on that front, also try; uninstall your current version first. then go into the Program Files folder for CC and delete its contents (keep the .ini file if you have customised settings) download the latest build from here; https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds (or use FileHippo for previous versions) reboot the PC then install CC from your downloaded file. to convert this Free version to the Pro, go to Options > About and enter your license key.
  4. also, sadly, true. Mac releases are few and far between. (plus no-one seems quiet sure if it's a bug, undesirable feature, or 'just is' because of the way Macs are)
  5. g'day Maureen and welcome to the forums. sadly, it's a know issue with that release. the Admins/Devs are aware of it.
  6. still no word (that we have heard) from above.
  7. @pk2, obviously you are staff, why have you not made yourself an Admin account? one of the main uses of a forum like this is to report bugs and engage with your users? a quick look around the threads and you'll soon be able to build up a list of issues - grab yourself a pen and paper and be pro-active in this approach. it staggers me that this forum isn't investigated in depth and daily by staff members to build such of list a issues instead of having Moderators bring threads with issues to the attention of Admins via the special 'hey this guy has a problem' thread. or maybe that is your new role?
  8. I suspect the returning entries are system generated so you’ll never get rid of them. if you show a screen shot, that can be verified.
  9. g'day Hobbit and welcome to the forum. if you look at the other, many, threads on this issue, you'll see it's a common complaint, with as yet, no official clarification. some are thinking it's a bug, others like myself reckon it's been done by design. if you read the Change Log you'll see the new 'heartbeat' feature mentioned there. but there's no more info than that.
  10. for the time being, providing this IS a bug and not a planned feature, you can either wait for the next release or revert to an earlier version, available at FileHippo. but based on all the releases this year and their associated issues, I know which way I would recommend. I for one have stayed on v5.40 but even that now days gets rarely run, the inbuilt cleanmgr is quiet adequate once you setup the /sageset options.
  11. it could be an issue with installing over-the-top... try this; uninstall your current version first. then go into the Program Files folder for CC and delete its contents (keep the .ini file if you have customised settings) download the latest build from here; https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds (or use FileHippo for previous versions) reboot the PC then install CC from your downloaded file. if you had the Pro version, to convert this Free version to the Pro, go to Options > About and enter your license key. if no luck, try the install with the PC in Safe Mode. and try the Slim or Portable builds to see if they work.
  12. well, if there was any reason to uninstall CC and finally find a replacement, this release would fit that bill, or the previous release, or the one before that, or the one...... hmmm, I'm seeing a pattern here, maybe Piriform actually wants us to jump ship.

    Old Version

older normal builds are available at FileHippo. don't know about Slim or Portable builds though.
  14. no worries, no harm done. and welcome to the forums by the way.
  15. as Hazelnut has done, I have also stayed on v5.40, all the others since then have either been flawed or have 'undesirable features' that I don't want. I think v5.41 was also OK but from memory that was the first release with the sudden large program size increase that didn't have an new offerings, so work that one out. just be aware, from a crap cleaning point of view, the older versions will do the job fine but for moving goal posts like browsers, Windows caches and the like, as they evolve, your old CC version won't know about those changes and may not clean those areas properly or at all. but for me, I use my browser in private mode so no data is kept on the pc anyway that needs cleaning.
  16. @genio, Sorry but I had to remove the software mentioned in your post, even though if there ever was a need to talk about a replacement to CC it would be now!
  17. uninstall your current version first. then go into the Program Files folder for CC and delete its contents (keep the .ini file if you have customised settings) download the latest build from here; https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds (or use FileHippo for previous versions) reboot the PC then install CC from your downloaded file. to convert this Free version to the Pro, go to Options > About and enter your license key.

  19. it's a known issue with the new release. Admins/Devs have been made aware... no word yet.
  20. g'day Rick and welcome to the forum. what is your OS, CC and Chrome versions? did you ran the registry cleaning portion of CC? when accessing Chrome settings, do you get an error message? have you tried resetting the Chrome profile or reinstalling Chrome?

    Build 5.45.6611

surely this will be the last straw for many. seriously - just how many releases with flat out bugs or at least (very) undesirable features do Piriform think their user base will tolerate???
  22. @stephen, this is exactly the kind of comments you (Piriform) should be making in the open forum. it gives CCleaner (the Company) a 'human face' - something sorely missing for ages.
