  1. Cool, it normally is, but all depends on how/what it is installed.

    Need advance

As far as I know it is not doable. CC does not interrogate mapped drives.
  3. +1 with Hazel Feel free to leave Piriform behind but try and log in now and then and chase up the latest going-ons with the Forum. members, especially the highly rated, worldly-experienced ones us Aussies are do bring a much needed decorum to this otherwise dull place!

    Notepad++

good to know, but may be a little too late for some of us.

  6. thread closed. no OP response. and @Virgil now has his own thread.
  7. if the free version overwrote your Pro license, just go to Options > About and enter the key again to take it up to the Pro version again.
  8. hopefully you mean "don't use any 3rd party AV program" and therefore replying on the inbuilt one in Windows 7, 8 or 10 - which is just fine. but to have no AV altogether well, no nice way to say it, you're just kidding yourself.
  9. since creating the task in CC is failing, try creating it directly in Task Scheduler.
  10. yeah, lot's of users are finding that was the last 'stable' version (even though I was informed by an Admin it has known issues). at least any problems it may have 1) aren't showing themselves and 2) fixes issues experienced with versions after it.
  11. and that was from the official page, here; https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva/download/standard I just tried it and got rcsetup153.exe OK.
  12. this is one of the known issues with v5.44 and going back to an earlier version (found on FileHippo) works for others.
  13. if the crash dumps were of any use, being in Arabic renders them useless for us English speaking members. but it looks like you have either got a Safe Mode or a Recycle Bin issue (or both) with CC and those are just two of the currently known issues the latest version if experiencing. recommend going back to a previous version (or two, or four ) until you find one that works. previous versions are on FileHippo.
  14. not sure what version you are running? you talk about updating but your screenshot shows v5.24. if you have got the latest version, yep, one of the many issues it is currently experiencing is running from the Recycle Bin context menu. from my experience, v5.40 is the most stable of the all the releases this year. if you want to get previous versions of CC, they can be found at FileHippo. to reinstall, do this; uninstall your current version first. then go into the Program Files folder for CC and delete its contents (keep the .ini file if you have customised settings) download the latest build from here; https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds (or use FileHippo for previous versions) reboot the PC then install CC from your downloaded file. to convert this Free version to the Pro, go to Options > About and enter your license key.

    Add programs to startup

you don't/can't - that list is a list of programs that are installed that have a component that gets loaded during startup. for example, all the programs installed on your PC aren't listed, just those, like your AV software, or cleanup programs, or monitoring software etc. if a program is listed there, it was put there by that program for a reason - maybe not a good reason which is why some of the entries can be deleted. if you want a program of your choosing to start when Windows starts, you can either create a scheduled task or pin a link to the program into the Start Menu > Programs > Start-up folder.
  16. yeah, but then you lose your chance to go to your browser and tidy things up/save things before big bad CC clobbers your browser. that would endear itself to the user base....not.
  17. and do you have winapp2.ini or any other enhancements that could slow it down?
  18. I thought there was after the first "your browser is still open, shall we close it" option fails.
  19. thanks hazel, good to know, let's hope the new owners don't change the business model too much.
  20. g'day sharon, welcome tot he forum. try this first; uninstall your current version of CCleaner. then go into the Program Files folder for CC and delete its contents (keep the .ini file if you have customised settings) download the latest free build of CC from here; https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds reboot the PC then install CC from your downloaded file. if no luck, try the install with the PC in Safe Mode. that will install the free version, if successful, go into CC > Options > About and enter your license details to make it the Pro version. there have been many issues with the latest version (like not liking Kaspersky), if the above points don't work, try with an earlier version, like v5.40, available from FileHippo.
  21. image the scenario, you have 1000's of pictures, scattered across multiple folders. most are there because you put them there but there will be some that have been made simply by dragging a folder and dropping it in the wrong place, making a copy. or sliding the mouse mid-double click and relocating a folder. you then use Dup File Finder, showing you all those pictures - how does it know all the pics in "Holiday in Paris" is the legit folder and "Holiday in Paris - Copy" is the duplicate. image the angry screams when it deletes the wrong one. if you want to use it, feel free - but the caveat is - have a very recent backup of either the entire system or of the files being deleted before so.
  22. and because of this constant moving target that is Win10, that's the very reason why small (ish) companies like Piriform NEED to increase their development base. one example, the maker of ClassicShell has dropped all support simple due to the constant Windows changes. don't think they need more programmers and testers? - I would argue the proof of that is in the last few major, minor and emergency releases.
  23. can't refute any of the above points, sadly. yes, CCleaner, Speccy and Defraggler have for at least 2 years now misreported HDD's as SSD's and vice-versa. in true expedited programming and testing, with the latest release of all those, some users are saying the opposite now occurs. where they were previously reported correctly, they now are falsely reported. Classic!
  24. the default settings are the safest. in Options > Advanced, click Restore default settings
  25. or if you use Kaspersky, or if you run MalwareBytes Premium, or want to run CC from the context menu of Recycle Bin, or want to run CC with the PC in Safe Mode, or want to update, or install or use switches at startup or {insert anything here} basically, with the recent releases, there has been a some underlying issues that have affected more than the usual crop of users. but for you v5.44 may work just fine.
