  1. if Hazelnut's suggestion bears no fruit, try another browser. what is it you are trying to download, your URL shows CCleaner but you are in the Speccy forum thread? your screen shot shows this from 5 days ago, have you tried recently?
  2. some members on here have reported that updating to the latest Kaspersky fixed their CC issues, so try that first. another option would be to try a previous version of CC until v5.43 is replaced, previous versions can be found at FileHippo.
  3. g'day ticklemefeet and welcome. what is your OS and CC version? how are you scrolling; arrow keys, mouse wheel, sidebars? do any of those methods work?
  4. g'day Sylvain and welcome to the Forums. many users are experiencing similar issues, most due to conflicts with Kaspersky and/or MalwareBytes. updating those programs to their latest versions seems to be helping some. if this issue only started occurring with v5.43 of CC, I recommend going back to an earlier version until it is sorted. earlier editions available at FileHippo.
  5. as well as issues with Kaspersky, CC currently has issues with MalwareBytes also.
  6. although I have read about it, I've not yet seen it happen in all my many fresh, upgrade and repair installs of WIn10, where software is 'kept' in the windows.old folder and still active (so to speak). so, personally, I don't see that as being an explanation on how Avast is still on your PC. more likely, however improbable, is that it sneaked in (like it does when installing CC) via some other software installer, especially a free program with embedded deals. because a fresh install wipes the Windows folder and Registry so there would be not record of any previous software being installed, even though the Programs File folder will still show the Avast folder, it would not be an installed piece of software. but if you can be certain that all you did was install Win10 and nothing else, and Avast still installed, then it must have somehow lingered from the previous OS installation and perhaps your 'fresh' install wasn't 'fresh' enough. but, hey, who knows with any certainty...
  7. certainly sounds like you have some sort of gremlin in your system, and even if not, it'll be worth going through all the checks just to make sure. for advice on malware removal, see to Rule #10 here; https://forum.piriform.com/announcement/15-forum-rules/
  8. just confirming... after a fresh install of Windows and no install of CCleaner, there was Avast on your system?
  9. that's good news. glad you finally got it working.
  10. oh bugger, that is sad news.
  11. something I discovered this morning, even TeamViewer puts things in IE folders. go figure. @jasper13 you can either ignore it and have it cleaned each time or right click it and add it to the Exclude list.
  12. not that this is any help on your issue and will be sad news to hear.... but after 2 weeks of that 'freed up space' being in daily use by every single thing you have been using the PC for, even installing new software onto the very drive you are trying to recover from, you chances of recovering anything more than file fragments will be extremely remote in my experience. that's a lot of GB's, what were they, movies, music? can you tackle the issue from another angle - like, what are the chances you had that data backed up? (I think I know the answer)
  13. has the PayPal transaction cleared? did you get any sort of acknowledgement, email or invoice? try raising a support ticket with Piriform; https://piriform.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
  14. @Special just so you know, all members (Moderators included) on this forum volunteer their time freely. apart from the Admin team, who rarely contribute in everyday posts, no members have a loyalty to, or are on the payroll of, Piriform. the number of posts is simply an indication of how long we have been doing this for. nothing more than that should be read into it. it is a friendly, community based forum that is mainly used to address problems with Piriform products but is also used (not so much these days) to discuss any topic someone cares to post about. a quick search through other threads and you'll discover that even the Moderators often criticise Piriform and their products. there is nothing wrong with having a good conspiracy theory - you just have to support it with verifiable, independent facts and sadly Wikipedia fails that test miserably. starting a thread with a question "when did CCleaner become spyware?" was only ever going to go one of two ways... those who agree with you and gave you your answer or the way it has.
  15. g'day nasrin and welcome to the Forums. was there a question in there or were you simply voicing your opinion? I ditched Norton's about a year ago now, went to the inbuilt Windows 10 Defender. Love it, and certainly can't complain when it ranks as high as Norton's but without the price tag - winner, winner!
  16. new version released recently, do you have that one?
  17. good choice, even though I was told by Admins that it has fatal flaws, it seems to function normally for me.
  18. what CC version are you using? but try this; uninstall your current version first. then go into the Program Files folder for CC and delete its contents (keep the .ini file if you have customised settings) download the latest build from here; https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds reboot the PC then install CC from your downloaded file. if no luck, try rolling back to a previous version of CC until the issue is resolved. past versions are available from FileHippo.

    Version 5.43

you are right, you won't know until you start walking that path. it is varying per user so for you, it may be fine. but the current list of issues seem to be with Chrome, with Kaspersky, with Macs, with SSD's, installing Avast, not installing CC, with MB3, I think that's the main ones...
  20. that's damn slack service. maybe an Admin will be kind enough on this forum to explain why. would certainly go a long way to improve relations in what can only be regarded as a very tense time for many users of their products.
  21. so by the definition provided in the first paragraph, it would be hard to not classify almost all software as spyware. top of the list would be all Microsoft products, Windows included. CC has been 'phoning home' for years. so a better question may be "why the sudden interest?"

    Version 5.43

have a quick squizz around the forums and you'll discover a few issues with various members. let's just say the Dev Team must be pulling some long shifts.
  23. have you tried unticking Font Cache in the System options section?
  24. from what I can gleam when reading responses from Admins, the Dev Team are very small, like you can count them using one hand.
