  1. g'day Bob and welcome. no, there is no Move button. Disk Analyser is to find out what files are taking up your space and to tell you where they live. but on your reasoning why.... be aware that if you move those files, you are probably relocating them to a potentially more 'insecure' place. hard drives die all the time, and external ones die even more. due to their mobility, even discounting the usual knocks and drops, they get bumped more often and all drives hate excessive vibrations. if you are moving those files off your PC to reclaim space, can I suggest you also get yourself another external drive and duplicate those files across both drives. it never hurts to have a backup of your precious data. (see my sig)
  2. for now, I would remove all AV's and let the inbuilt Windows AV protect you for the time being. personally, Avast AV, although still good protection, has dropped the ball when it comes to ads and pop-ups. I used to use/recommend those two years ago but moved on when they both went down the wrong road. a good, trouble-free one for now is Avira. as to /debug mode. start a command prompt, and using CD, change the directory path to c:\program files\ccleaner (or where ever yours lives). then type ccleaner64.exe /debug and it'll run in debug mode and run the program as you normally would. when you exit it would have made a ccleaner64_your version_date_time.log file. have a gander in that or attach it in your next post and let's see what stands out.
  3. known issue with Monitoring unable to be turned off. v5.45 has been pulled and v5.44 should be the latest version to use. (or earlier, available at FileHippo)
  4. also, try the Slim or Portable builds from here; https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds maybe you'll have better luck with those.
  5. see if this helps. uninstall your current version first. then go into the Program Files folder for CC and delete its contents (keep the .ini file if you have customised settings) download the latest build from here; https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds (or use FileHippo for previous versions) reboot the PC then install CC from your downloaded file. if you need to convert this Free version to the Pro, go to Options > About and enter your license key. if no luck, try the install with the PC in Safe Mode. or try the Slim or Portable builds to see if they work.
  6. after three and a half years of collecting user's reports, I think they should have a good enough pool of data to work from.
  7. thread started Feb 2015. not one Admin response or acknowledgement. 5 releases of Speccy since this thread started. users still reporting problems. please!, somebody tell me that Piriform/Avast cares. I see no reason why this thread should not be closed as it is seemingly serving no purpose.
  8. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/business/avast-buys-piriform-the-company-behind-ccleaner-and-recuva/ happened to stumble upon this doing some research - interesting on how the comments more or less came true.

    7-zip Update

latest update addresses Windows memory problem - https://sourceforge.net/p/sevenzip/discussion/45797/thread/e730c709/ latest (30.4.18) 7-Zip here; https://www.7-zip.org/
  10. @lmacri, no, you have to use 7-Zip, probably others will work, but I know 7-Zip does. it lets you open .EXE files and extract those two executable CC files as mentioned. get 7-Zip from here; https://www.7-zip.org/
  11. no worries. and a belated welcome to the forums.
  12. good pickup nukecad. I'm so ingrained into not reading those EULA-like paragraphs that I never knew winver even told you the operating system in that section. something new learnt today - woohoo.
  13. it is asking for your Mac password - not your CC password!
  14. excellent. did you catch how many gigs it cleared up?
  15. what I have done in the past is download whatever build you are after and using 7-Zip, just extract the ccleaner and ccleaner64 executables and copy those into your folder you already use for the current Portable build.
  16. it'll go through your system drive (usually C:\) and clean whatever fits its criteria with Program Files, Windows and the current user. it only looks at non personal, left-over sort of crap, so if you think it'll remove half your Barracuda then I'll guess you don't do regular maintenance or there are a lot of Restore Points or Recycle Bin etc items to clean up. do an Analyse and post a screen shot if you like and we'll give it a quick once-over for you.
  17. CC only goes through the current drive, so you should be fine. BUT... have you clicked Analyse first and checked out what it will clean? once happy, then click Run Cleaner.
  18. bondage hey!, chains and whips - chips and dips, I like where your head's at!
  19. you have .165 latest is .191 long shot granted but worth updating just to cross that off the list. also, do a reboot, heck, again, just in case it helps. have you tried reinstalling Speccy? (throwing ideas out there now) these other programs, have you tried CrystalDiskInfo and HD Tune?
  20. click Start and type winver and the Best Match. what is your full Windows 10 version?
  21. huh? so these other programs were showing the data you wanted, but now they don't?
  22. I assume it's just not something that has been envisioned due to its nature and frequency of occurring so it has never been coded for. but yeah, what a great, friendly, little feature to have embedded in the code for just such an event instead of embedding all the other 'stuff' they put in.
  23. if it's your firmware not talking to Microsoft's WMI service, you should see the same lack of data reporting if you use any sort of Speccy equivalent hardware investigating software. if they work OK, then it is a Speccy issue.
  24. it's been a bug-bear for all Mac users since it's appearance in the latest release. as to whether it's a bug or some sort of forced programming due to Apple, is not known as no-one has been forthcoming with an explanation.
  25. no worries, glad it came good for you.
