  1. Currently this is the only "bug" i can report. Since i can't find any other user reporting the same issue, i guess this is a fault of my S.O. Windows XP Pro sp2 fully patched. IE7 ver. 7.0.5730.11 CCleaner detect and clean everything as always, but index.dat files Note: I can easily delete them using another application (after reboot, of course). Note2: Tried previous versions of CCleaner (included the portable one). No way Any help will be appreciated
  2. Issues section clean almost only registry entries, as you can see under categories at the left side "Registry Integrity". Plus a couple of entries related to "File Integrity" (Start Menu Shortcuts and Desktop Shortcuts) Of course CCleaner doesn't delete the WindowsUpdates, but only Hotfix Uninstallers. Deleting them, will be impossibile uninstall the WindowsUpdates, if needed. yw
  3. Since CCleaner is very popular in Italy (and since i need to make some practice with html ) i've translated some Help&Support pages of CCleaner. - Quick Tour - F.A.Q. - Features - Screenshots Do you think i can freely publish them on my personal web page? Of course "Download" is linked to original english website. I ask cause i guess they are copyrighted (graphics, logos, adv, etc...), and i don't want do nothing wrong on this side. If not, i can send to Piriform the whole zipped package, so they can publish them somewhere, if they like. Thanks
  4. Hi C2H5OH, Since all CCleaner translators are volunteers (i'm the italian one) why you don't translate CCleaner in Bulgarian? It seems your english is better than mine
  5. Opera is detected by a "SpecialDetect": SpecialDetect=DET_OPERA
  6. Sorry i've misunderstood the question (my bad english ) Guess you were speaking about the Tools > Uninstall tab of CCleaner. Is Opera listed there ?
  7. Simply select Opera and click on 'Delete Entry' button.
  8. I run Office2000, never installed newest versions, but CCleaner detects both Office2003 and Office XP.
  9. However, there is something wrong in MS Office detection. On my PC is installed Office 2000, and CCleaner detects both Office2003 and OfficeXP Maybe this isn't a CCleaner fault, since in my registry path HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\ are registered 10.0 11.0 9.0 and Word
  10. All the entries "responsibles" are stored in the winapp.ini file Open it in notepad, search for [Office2003] Find this string, that IMO (repeat IMO) is "responsible" of Word settings deletion: RegKey10=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data|Settings and edit it like follow (just start with a ; for temporarily deactivate) ;RegKey10=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data|Settings Save and retry an Analyze process. IMO (repeat IMO ) in this way all the crap will be detected/deleted, except Word settings. Sorry i can't try this tweak on my own computer, since i don't have Office2003 installed. NOTE As written in winapp.ini file itself, editing it is dangerous. First save somewhere a backup copy of the original winapp.ini
  11. This does make sense, since i keep my XPPro Sp2 fully updated, and CCleaner seems now completely unable to find index.dat files. Wonder this isn't a "bug" of last version 1.39.502, cause the same happens with 1.38.485 and 1.37.456.
  12. Confirmed on my PC too. Using secure deletion the zero-byte files aren't deleted. IMO would be nice add at this forum a pinned topic showing all the "known bugs".
  13. Same here. All the crap is detected and cleaned as usual, except index.dat files. Not solved neither installing the previous version @JDPower I don't use secure deletion
  14. I was just wondering if your index.dat files were still detected/cleaned by CCleaner. This is a screenshot of an Analyze log taken after a short internet browsing: As you can see there is no trace of any index.dat file marked for deletion
  15. False positive Synonyms: False alarm A false positive is another way of saying ?mistake?. As applied to the field of anti-virus programs, a false positive occurs when the program mistakenly flags an innocent file as being infected. This may seem harmless enough, but false positives can be a real nuisance. Viruslist.com (google > 0,13 secs.)
  16. Yes. FYI, you may launch an "Analyze" process having only the "Chkdsk file fragments" entry checked (it's under System category), just for have a look on how many fragments of checkdisk files it finds. If now all is working fine on your PC, after some reboots, they will can be safely deleted.
  17. Founded C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log It can be opened and readed in Notepad with no problems here.
  18. I run CCleaner with everything checked (except menu order cache, this is my choice) and all seems working fine here. The only "bug" i have noticed at this moment, as said before, is that it doesn't detect/delete the index.dat files. Please tell me what is exactly the filename of this WindowsUpdate log, and where is located. Ill'try to find/read it.
  19. Currently my only problem is with index.dat files. After Cleaning, Analyze doesn't show nothing left undeleted, except this entry C:\WINDOWS\Debug\UserMode\userenv.log 154 bytes IMO this is a log file that Windows recreate immediately, so it isn't a CCleaner fault.
  20. Strange behaviour... All my Internet Cache is perfectly cleaned, included Content.IE5 folders and zero-byte files, but index.dat files aren't detected, as said in the thread below. May you please try to do an Analyze having only the "Delete index.dat files" entry checked, and let me know what happens to you? Thanks
  21. Sorry, i'm not so skilled to help you in such kind of registry tweaks Anyway, actually my CCleaner too doesn't detect and doesn't clean any index.dat file. I can't see any index.dat file clicking Analyze. But using another application i can delete index.dat (and also view their contents before and after reboot) with no problems. So i think isn't at all needed make any Windows Registry tweak. Just wait and see if some developer and/or skilled user can kindly give us some input...
  22. \Lokale Einstellungen\ IMO this is the problem. Since in my italian XP i must translate "Local Settings" (and also "Application Data") for get CCleaner working in such paths. Of course this problem doesn't affect english users. Edit: Let's see for example Dr.Watson logs. In winsys.ini we have this entry: FileKey6=%allusersprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson|*.log In this way doesn't work for me. I must edit that string as follow: FileKey6=%allusersprofile%\Dati Applicazioni\Microsoft\Dr Watson|*.log Tried some google searches, it seems doesn't exist in Windows any environment variable available for "Application Data" and "Local Settings"
  23. Yes i know, that's pretty enough :-) I have added just these 2 entries FileKey3=%allusersprofile%\Application Data\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\REPORTS|*.*FileKey4=%allusersprofile%\Application Data\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\EVENTDB|*.* for clean also Reports and Events. As you know, they register every start/stop of Scheduler, Guard and Updater. Completely unuseful IMHO.
