  1. Agree. Here is how (and why) i have tweaked some AntivirPE Classic entries in winapp.ini. [AntiVir PE Classic]LangSecRef=3024Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\H+BEDV\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic V 7Default=TrueFileKey1=%allusersprofile%\Dati Applicazioni\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\FAILSAVE|*.* Note: This path doesn't exist. Exist BACKUP\FAILSAFE (not FAILSAVE) but in that folder are stored some backup files needed in case the originals become corrupted or infected. IMNSHO is absolutely unsafe delete them! FileKey2=%allusersprofile%\Dati Applicazioni\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\INFECTED|*.*FileKey3=%allusersprofile%\Dati Applicazioni\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\LOGFILES|*.*FileKey4=%allusersprofile%\Dati Applicazioni\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\SYSSAVE|*.* Note: The folder SYSSAVE doesn't exist. Exist SYSSAFE and IMO is not safe empty this folder, as said above. FileKey5=%allusersprofile%\Dati Applicazioni\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\TEMP|*.*|RECURSE Note: Here 'RECURSE' is needed, since in this TEMP folder are stored some empty subfolders FileKey6=%allusersprofile%\Dati Applicazioni\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\UPDATE|*.*FileKey7=%allusersprofile%\Dati Applicazioni\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\REPORTS|*.*FileKey8=%allusersprofile%\Dati Applicazioni\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic\EVENTS|*.* Note: This path must point to the EVENTDB (and not EVENTS) folder, in order to delete a file named avavtdb.dbe, where is stored the history of events shown in the application UI. FileKey9=%ProgramFiles%\AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic|*.old In English version must replace the string '\Dati Applicazioni\' with '\Application Data\'. I have no idea about german Windows versions. NOTE !!! The above tweaks works fine on my PC, but try it is at your risk! Be careful. I'm just an average user of CCleaner, nothing more
  2. It has been removed since in last version all the log files are hard coded in the program itself, and there is no way for CCleaner to delete them.
  3. Ok ok, take your time, not urgent I asked just for get some knowledge about this
  4. Since Antivir now is in winapp.ini, i suppose we must download a new version of winapp2.ini, or at least manually delete all the Antivir entries in winapp2.ini, in order to avoid a double detection. Right? However, IMHO this entry need some little improvements. May i please pvt contact some of forum owners/moderators for this? Thanks
  5. Hi country girl, CCleaner doesn't delete any file, unless they are saved in some Temp or Temporary folder, and/or unless they are saved in some customized folder that user want clean. Do you have any file/folder setted in Options > Custom ?
  6. Did you tried access to your yahoo account via web? https://login.yahoo.com/config/login?.src=f...//www.yahoo.com Note: Not sure this is the right URL, since i own an italian version of Messenger.
  7. In Yahoo! Messenger the buddy list is stored on the Yahoo server, not locally on your hard disk. Of course there is no way for CCleaner to delete it.
  8. I use Foxit Reader too. IMO the behaviour you have described is perfectly normal, since Foxit doesn't associate automatically himself to .pdf files, unless the user choose to set it as default PDF reader. Uninstalling Acrobat Reader the .pdf extension become "unused" for the system, and CCleaner doesn't do nothing wrong deleting it.
  9. Ok. Take a look at the Internet Explorer section of CCleaner, in Cleaner window. - Temporary Internet Files - Cookies - History - Recent typed URLs - Delete Index .dat files < (note: this take effect after restart) - Last download location - Autocomplete form History These are all the "traces" of your internet activities that CCleaner will delete. AFAIK doesn't exist nothing else that can be "investigated" by a... detective brother Check all them, Run Cleaner, and you are done. Using web mails is the same as web browsing forum or websites, there isn't any difference All those pages will be deleted as "Temporary Internet File". No, nothing is "logged", unless you have a "keylogger" installed, as said before :-)
  10. Nothing is impossibileEEEEEE for a skilled computer geek Just kidding, using CCleaner as said before, you can stay safe enough on deletion of your browser history, chat, files (video, pics, texts... ) and so on.
  11. Quick Tour 2 Better if you read (at least) the whole Quick Tour and the Beginners Guide Quick Tour
  12. Click "Options" icon, click "Settings", checkmark the option "Secure File deletion (Slower)" and choose "NSA 7 passes" in the dropdown menu. This must be done before run Cleaner, of course. AFAIK no Note: I can't know what you mean with "my brother like to play detective" Be aware that exist some (malicious) applications named "keyloggers" that can run hidden in background and are able to register everything happens on a PC. Can't know if this may be your case, just be aware of this
  13. Partially solved giving permissions to "Admin (PCName\Username)". The key is still undeletable, but at least it isn't anymore detected as "issue" by CCleaner. Very nice, i can see again "no issues found" ! I used for some time MP10, then downgraded to MP9, maybe this is the origin of this behaviour. Tyvm for your hints
  14. It seems like Windows register everything has been open, also the (so called) "unregistered" extensions. I've never noticed this before, thanks to you
  15. Wonder it's related to Media Player. Another .wpl was deleted using RegKiller. In this way i get a... typical Microsoft warning, very understandable as usual: "The user is not allowed to view this entry, but is allowed to edit it" No way Clicking OK i get an Access Denied error. Note: I'm the only user/admin, no other accounts setted on my PC.
  16. This isn't a CCleaner bug, since i can't delete this entry neither manually in Regedit. Clicking it in Regedit i get the error "Impossible open .wmd. Error opening the key" Tried everything, also a program called RegKiller, but no way It's not a big trouble, but i'm just curious about this strange behaviour... May be someone knows what mean the - symbol near the key name in CCleaner? Thanks
  17. I have tried this, just for test Make a new text file on desktop and give it a random extension (eg. sometext.x1x). Open with... Choose Notepad. Close the file and run a new scan for Issues. A new unused extension to be cleaned: .x1x
  18. Yes, logs and statistics only. Opening winapp.ini in notepad you can see which files/entries are to be deleted for each application.
  19. Uhm... i'm not the most skilled e-mule user in the world Not sure, but it seems the last version 0.47c doesn't need to be installed (standalone ?). I' have simply unzipped it in a folder on my disk, and it's working. Can't find any e-mule related entry in the installed applications list and/or in Windows registry. In this case, obviously there is no way for CCleaner to detect this application...
  20. As said in the other thread, this is a very good idea, i've immediately customized my CCleaner following your suggestion The only thing i don't understand is why you like show first something that is added. IMHO would be more logical show first what come with CCleaner by default, and then the "optionals" winapp.2 entries, isn't?
  21. Sure you can do it, but this is not the best solution. If CCleaner detects applications that are not installed, this mean that those applications left something unuseful in Windows Registry, and/or in Program Files folder. Check it out. IMO the easiest way is simply replace (overwrite) the old winapp2.ini file with the updated version.
  22. Uhm... i'm wondering about some kind of malaware... Have you performed some scan for this? Also, take a look in C:\Document and Settings\ There are some others users registered there (maybe under random names) ? Can you open regedit.exe manually, going to C:\Windows folder and clicking regedit.exe?
  23. What's the difference with "Run at Startup"?
  24. Try to do it using "Classic Menu (old Windows style)" This screenshot is taken from my italian WinXP, but hope can help
  25. The apps not installed doesn't appears at all in CCleaner, since it detects only the installed ones.
