  1. Windows 10 is a phone without the phone part. I still think Win 7 is superior as an OS.
  2. I'm sticking with Windows ME, the most solid OS ever.
  3. Funny, I did turn it off, restarted my PC, and after it rebooted it asked me if I really wanted to keep my 'network discovery' option 'off'. Like a frightened rabbit I chose to turn it back on. Just because. But now that I know how to access it again, I think I'll turn it off again. Another thing...I bet that is the service Win10 needs in order to connect PCs with Microsoft Online, or whatever that service is called, which I have no desire to connect to. (Used to be called Windows Live.) Thanks again Hazelnut.
  4. Sorry, no, that didn't answer it at all. Here's my situation. I have a PC that has internet access through ethernet cable. I have absolutely zero other devices that I would want to 'sync' my PC with. I have a printer connected to my PC but I don't think that even matters. All I want to know is can I connect to the average worldwide internet if I turn that 'network discovery' setting off? I'll put it another way...do a lot of regular websites Depend on whether I have that setting on or off? Or does it have to do more with accessing other computers on a shared network? Why is life difficult? Make it all better, Hazelnut!
  5. In order for my home PC to access the internet does my setting HAVE to be set to "Turn on network discovery"? Or can I set it to "off" and still access the internet?
  6. http://www.raptorresource.org/birdcams/decorah-north-nest/ This feed doesn't have a chat feature. It's on private property and the peeps who own it wish to remain anonymous.
  7. So now I have 3 eagle cams to watch. Decorah, Decorah North, and now this one! And all 3 have several eggs incubating.
  8. I had it over 12 years ago and got tired of it after a year.
  9. From WindowBlinds' latest Change Log in FileHippo... " - Windows 10 Compatibility! " When were they confronted with that barrier, last September? Imagine if they told their customers, "Hey, in 6 months we'll fix it!" Yeah.
  10. It only runs if I allow it to.
  11. Same here, 90%. But disabling Flash is like chucking your monitor.
  12. I never said I was a techie. Far from it. You guys are miles ahead of me. But once in a blue moon I throw something silly out there just to read the reactions. No ill will meant. (And I promise if I do that it'll be only in The Lounge. )
  13. I think that "self destruct in 5 seconds" blurb was used in the intro of every old 1960s 'I Spy' TV episode.
  14. That's why it's in The Lounge. It's throw-away material.
  15. What is MS doing? I can't understand this. Apple has the iPhone. Samsung uses Android tech. What the f does MS have? Zune. Computers. Lots & lots of office and home computers. And they're trying to turn our PCs into phones with W10. How this will happen I don't know. They don't own Skype. I just can't help but think that they're pretending to be significant. By the way, I hate smartphones. And I'll slap you senseless with a selfie-stick if you disagree.
  16. The bicycle had the biggest 'star power'. Compare ET to Spielbergs' first made-for-TV film 'Duel' 11 years earlier. Now that was a movie.
  17. Yeah, they found a big stash of old vid games buried, probably unearthed during new construction. Personally, I thought the movie ET was mostly boring, with a few good bits in it. And way too long and sappy. So I doubt a vid game of it could be any better.
  18. I never had AVG in many recent years but MBAM would still cause freezing none the less. A typical scan from the freeware version of MBAM v.2.0+ would take at least 25 minutes or more. But nowadays it focuses and freezes on tiny insignificant files as if they were 1000 times the size of some malware photo app.
  19. So, any word on whether MBAM has gotten their ...stuff...together yet? I don't see anything at their forum about the mess.
  20. I delved deep into all security issues within Win 10 when I first got it and I shut off at least +95% of any outside influences from Win 10. ("Okay, you can update my system.") Besides trying to turn my big PC into a tiny cell phone, I just don't like them...I was going to finish this with a continuing thought. But I think I nailed it. I just don't like them.
  21. My Win10 will update at 3:30AM this morning. It can take all the time it wants. I'll be asleep.
  22. "The password is...1...2...3...4...5..." President Screwball - "That's amazing! I have the same password for my luggage!"
  23. No, Andavari is right. The last few times I used MBAM it went bonkers. Everything would be fine till it got to the Scanning Files section near the end. I never saw the progress bar move even after 10 - 20 minutes. Then it would just dote forever on a small insignificant file (like a simple Read Me, etc.) or the dreaded TMContainer 000000000000001.regtrans-ms. And when I try to cancel the scan, that's when the real fun would begin. Nothing but a hard reboot would work. It's a piece of sh*t right now. Uninstalled. Waiting for a better version. It was a fun ride, MBAM.
  24. I've had the same problem for the past few years. I manually ctrl+v instead.
