  1. no, i don't use the winapp2.ini file. also, i don't have ccleaner's "include" option set to include the "code cache" folders. i am using the latest version of ccleaner, build 6.04.
  2. ccleaner empties the "code cache" folders on my computer when i run it.
  3. as far as i know, the problem was resolved many months ago. i forgot, now, which build it was where the problem had been resolved.
  4. it didn't work for me. i found that it was re-enabled every time that ccleaner was run.
  5. try disabling your HOSTS file by renaming it to "nohosts" and see if that makes a difference. normally the HOSTS file is located at "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc."
  6. it is a known issue. see this thread: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/63493-ccleaner-upon-loading-is-enabling-the-disabled-windows-restore-feature/ in a post, in the thread, above, there is a link for downloading ccleaner build 6.02 which doesn't have the same problem.
  7. we have seen other people experience the same problem in recent months. in some of those cases, people found that their HOSTS file was blocking connections to the servers that were used for activating ccleaner-licenses. my advice would be to try disabling your HOSTS file temporarily by renaming it to "nohosts." normally, the HOSTS file is located at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc." are you using the "spybot s&d" program? if so, my guess is that that is the source of the problem.
  8. it's a known bug in the latest version of ccleaner. the solution is to roll back to build 6.02. see this thread: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/63493-ccleaner-upon-loading-is-enabling-the-disabled-windows-restore-feature/ you will need to disable ccleaner's automatic-updating so that it stays at build 6.02, for the time being.
  9. to reproduce the error, you have to run the updater to install an update.
  10. if the developers were aware of the problem they would have fixed it. obviously the developers have erroneously been led to believe that there is no problem, despite the fact that people keep reporting it over and over and over and over, month after month after month after month, endlessly. give it another 7 years. eventually, someone at avast will get a clue.
  11. i am guessing that it will be another 7 years before anyone at avast becomes aware of this problem and fixes it.
  12. it's the same problem that we have been talking about for several months now where the automatic updater runs a DOUBLE INSTALL, generating errors:
  13. i switched off system restore, relaunched ccleaner and ccleaner again re-enabled system restore. i have uninstalled ccleaner build 6.03. does anyone know how to get old versions of ccleaner, like build 6.02?
  14. nukecad, sorry for the confusion. i am a different poster. not the original poster.
  15. i did a test and, on my computer, after using the chrome browser to go to the "totallzero.com" website, ccleaner flagged the "stat.totallzero.com" cookies and removed them. i could go to chrome's "see all cookies and site data" to verify that the "stat.totallzero.com" cookies had been removed. 16. apparently there is a conflict between the avira antivirus program and ccleaner where running ccleaner causes the avira program to "remove" many EXE files. see this thread: https://community.ccleaner.com/topic/63390-ccleaner-corrupting-program-files/ to resolve the problem, if you are wanting to continue using the avira antivirus program, in ccleaner's "options," add the "sentry_temp" folder at "c:\windows\temp\sentry_temp" to ccleaner's "exclude" list. see if that resolves the problem. meanwhile, regarding programs that are no longer working, others who have experienced the same problem have said that they had to reinstall the programs in order to restore the missing/"corrupted" files. again, refer back to the thread that i posted, above.
  17. try disabling your HOSTS file by renaming it to "nohosts" normally the HOSTS file is located at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
  18. darth skywatcher, you can disable edge's background processes that continue to run after edge has been closed, in edge's "settings"/"system and performance," disabling "startup boost" and "continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed," so that edge will not continue to have processes running in the background after edge has been closed. similarly, you also can disable the google chrome browser's background processes that continue to run after it has been closed.
  19. as far as i know, "ccleaner" (avast) is still honoring lifetime licenses. if you are getting a message saying "cannot connect," see if your HOSTS file is causing the problem. you can disable your HOSTS file temporarily by renaming it to "nohosts." you can change it back to "hosts" after you have finished troubleshooting. do you use the "spybot s&d" antimalware program? it has been known to cause problems with HOSTS files, in the past, and it is the only program that i know of that generates a HOSTS file and so that is why i suspect that it is the source of the problem that some people have been having with not being able to activate their ccleaner licenses, due to "cannot connect." again, try disabling your HOSTS file to see if it is causing the "cannot connect" problem. the HOSTS file is located at "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc"
  20. try disabling your HOSTS file to see if it is causing a problem. to do that, you can temporarily rename the HOSTS file to "nohosts." you can change it back to "hosts" when you have finished troubleshooting. the HOSTS file is located at "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc." do you use the "spybot s&d" antimalware program? it can be used to generate a hosts file and i suspect that that is the source of the problem that some people have experienced with not being able to activate their ccleaner licenses. it has been known to cause problems with the HOSTS file in the past and it is the only program that i know of that generates a HOSTS file. you can use "notepad" or "notepad++" to edit the HOSTS file. they need to be run with administrator privileges in order to be able to edit the HOSTS file. you probably could look to remove anything belonging to "piriform.com," "ccleaner.com," or "avast.com" from the HOSTS file.
  21. yes, i think that would be a good idea. the "CCleanerPerformanceOptimizerService" service is a "service" so you should see it listed along with the other "services." "CCleanerPerformanceOptimizerService" should be set to "manual" start.
  22. it sounds like you have somehow disabled the "CCleanerPerformanceOptimizerService." try re-enabling the "CCleanerPerformanceOptimizerService" service and see if that resolves the problem.
  23. look in ccleaner's "options"/"advanced" and enable "skip user account control warning." see if that resolves the problem.
