  1. here is an article with some information how to adjust the settings for the windows 11 start menu: https://www.tomsguide.com/how-to/how-to-customize-the-windows-11-start-menu there is a section "Change the recommended apps and files" here is another article: https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/customize-windows-11-start-menu i used google-search to pull up the articles, searching for "windows 11 start menu settings"
  2. you can go into windows "services" and disable the "CCleanerPerformanceOptimizerService"-service. make sure that you have no programs disabled by ccleaner's performance optimizer before disabling the performance otimizer service.

  4. in my experience, you have to save cookies for particular websites if you want to stay logged in to them. ccleaner has settings for saving cookies, at ccleaner's "options"/"cookies." in ccleaner's settings for firefox, i have it set to clean "sessions" (and cookies) and that does not result in my being logged out of the websites that i am saving cookies for, in order to stay logged in to them. again, while i have ccleaner's settings for firefox set to remove cookies (and "sessions" ), i also have ccleaner set to save some cookies, in ccleaner's "options"/"cookies," so i am not logged out of the websites that i am saving cookies for, in order to stay logged in to them.
  5. since you mentioned debug regkeys i am thinking that the problem might be related to ccleaner's new "bugreporter" feature.
  6. i don't think the registry-cleaner was the cause of the problem. the person said that they got some kind of error-message when trying to restore some removed regkeys, but that doesn't mean the removing the regkeys caused the problem. and, even if some regkeys couldn't be restored, because they couldn't be overwritten, i don't think that is a problem. i think the problem was caused by the ccleaner program's cleaning the "c:\windows\temp" folder, similar to what others have said, who use the avira antivirus program. some people who use norton antivirus also have mentioned having problems. avira is owned by norton and i am thinking that in both cases it is the same problem where those av-programs are creating a folder within the "c:\windows\temp" folder which is removed by ccleaner's cleaning, resulting in problems. i think it would be easy for ccleaner/piriform/avast to fix the conflict with the avira program, which i am thinking also applies to the norton program, by simply setting ccleaner to ignore the folder that is created by the avira program, which probably also is created by the norton av-program, within the "c:\windows\temp" folder.
  7. avira is owned by norton, now. my guess is that people who use norton are experiencing the same problem as people who use avira. i do think it would be easy for ccleaner/piriform/avast to fix the conflict with the avira program by simply setting the ccleaner program to ignore the folder that is created by the avira program, within the "c:\windows\temp" folder. hopefully that also would fix the problem(s) for others, too, who are using norton, if it is the same problem in both cases, which is what i am thinking is the case.
  8. it was done deliberately because some people were installing ccleaner into the wrong folder, like the "program files" folder instead of the "ccleaner" folder, which resulted in causing problems when they would run the uninstall, where the uninstall would empty the "program files" folder. to prevent that, ccleaner fixed things to where the ccleaner program properly installs into the ccleaner folder, not the "program files" folder.
  9. the firewall-rules probably are being flagged because of missing files. that is the only time that i have seen any firewall-rules flagged, when a particular file that the rule applied to was missing. so yes, it would be OK to remove the the invalid firewall-rules. you could run the "FRST" program. it also will show "invalid" firewall-rules, rules that have missing files and therefore are invalid (in the "additional" scan-log): https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-recovery-scan-tool/ using ccleaner's registry-cleaner has never caused me any problems.
  10. i overlooked that you said that you had run "sfc /scannow." sorry. in recent years, my eyesight has gotten bad.
  11. try using "command prompt" with administrator privileges to run the command "sfc /scannow" (system file checker) . microsoft says to run the command "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" before running "sfc /scannow" event 1000 supposedly indicates file-corruption. another thing, if you have enabled "ransomware protection" in "windows defender" that could be causing a problem. "runtimebroker.exe" checks the permissions for processes that are running. the "ransomware protection" could be interfering with that. i am not seeing any errors in "events" on my computer, running windows 10. i always use the most up-to-date version of ccleaner. if you are using a third-party program to tweak the windows GUI, that also could be causing a problem.
  12. apps are apps compressed files are compressed files pictures are pictures audio is audio etc the purpose is to remove files that are in your "downloads" folder. if you don't want files in your downloads folder to be deleted then leave the boxes for deleting the various types of files unticked. personally i use ccleaner's "include" feature to set ccleaner to remove text and log files from the "downloads" folder. i leave the boxes for "windows downloads" unticked.
  13. try going to ccleaner's options/privacy and disabling "show offers."
  14. something that you could try, open "device manager" and find "keyboard" in the list of devices there and "uninstall" it. then reboot the computer. the keyboard driver should be automatically reinstalled when the computer is rebooted.
  15. maybe there are no onedrive-files to remove and that is why you are not seeing them?
  16. ccleaner has never removed special permissions for websites, in chrome's settings. i would have noticed that, if it did. ccleaner does have an option for removing "site preferences," in firefox's settings, which, i think, is a bad idea.
  17. the reason that you are seeing those websites listed in the list of websites that have special permissions is because they have special permissions. you should be able to remove the settings for the special permissions by deleting them from the list of websites that have special permissions. there also is an option, there, to reset the default permissions for the individual websites that are listed there.
  18. i think that i have figured out what the situation is. you are looking in chrome's "settings," in "privacy and security"/"cookies and other site data"/"see all site data and permissions." so, what you are seeing, there, is "site data and permissions." in other words, what you are seeing, on your computer, is a list of websites that you have given special "permissions" to. the way to remove the websites from the list, there, in "see all site data and permissions," is to delete them from the list, which will remove the special permissions that you have given them. or, there is another option, to "reset" permissions for the websites. maybe resetting permissions for the websites likewise will remove them from the list, if they no longer have any special permissions. chrome is not tracking your "most visited sites." that is just the way that the view of the list, there, in "see all site data and permissions," is being sorted. incidentally, in your screenshots, your settings for chrome, in "privacy and security," "cookies and other site data," you do not have "clear cookies and site data when you close all windows" enabled. you could enable that. that should cause all cookies and data in chrome's temp-file-cache to be removed when chrome is closed. in that case, if you want a particular cookie to be saved, you will need to add it to chrome's cookie-settings, to "always allow." for the record, i currently use firefox as my primary browser, but i used chrome as my primary browser for 6 years, up until september, 2021, something like that, when i switched back to using firefox.
  19. check ccleaner's settings for cleaning chrome. also, check chrome's settings. in chrome's cookie-settings, if you have "always allow" set for some sites, that might be why you are still seeing them. that IS the way that it is on my computer. the only sites that i see, there, are ones that i have set to "always allow," in chrome's cookie-settings.
  20. check ccleaner's settings to see if you have ccleaner set to save the cookies. in order to remove cookies, the browser needs to be closed. if the browser is not closed, the cookies cannot be removed. do you have the browser sync-ed? if so, the cookies could be being restored, automatically.
  21. in ccleaner's "options/advanced," there is an option to not delete files in the temp folders that are less that 24 hours old.
  22. something could be blocking access to the avast servers. you could try disabling your HOSTS file by renaming it to "nohosts," and see if that resolves the problem. usually, the HOSTS file is located at "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc." if you use the "spybot s&d" antimalware-program, my guess is that it generated a HOSTS file that is causing the problem.
  23. you could set your browsers to block third-party cookies.
  24. it's possible that you are using a HOSTS file that is causing a problem. try renaming your HOSTS file to "nohosts," to see if that resolves the problem. normally the HOSTS file is located at "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc." i think that the reason that you are seeing the greyed out security box is because the ccleaner program is unable to verify your ccleaner-license, which is due to your HOSTS file's blocking access to avast servers. ccleaner is owned by avast. if you have blocked the ccleaner program in your firewall-rules, that also could be the cause of the problem where the ccleaner program is unable to verify your ccleaner-license due to not being able to connect to the avast servers. if you use the "spybot s&d" antimalware program, my guess is that it is responsible for generating the problematic HOSTS file. i would recommend using ccleaner's "custom clean" rather than using "health check." that is what most people do.
