  1. follow the instructions. go into your power-settings, into the advanced settings, there, and re-adjust the settings, there, and double-check to make sure that the settings have been applied. something i forgot to mention, before re-adjusting your power-settings, you may first need to restore the default power-settings, and then adjust the settings to where you want them. just keep fiddling with the settings until you see that they are the way that you want them, and that your settings have actually been applied.
  2. my guess is that the problem is not being caused by ccleaner. a couple of times, in the past, an update for windows messed up my computer's power-settings. try to resolve the problem by going into your computer's power-settings, including the advanced settings, and resetting everything, there. and, then, double-check to make sure that all of the settings are the way that you want them, to make sure that your settings have been applied.
  3. my advice is to not run "wipe free space." wiping free space is very dangerous in that it could erase some data that shouldn't be erased, causing problems.
  4. thank you, dave. personally i am not noticing any issues with ccleaner's cookie-cleaning though it seems that some people are experiencing an issue, there. there has been an ongoing issue with "safeframe.googlesyndication.com cookies," for some people. i am wondering if that is what people are seeing, "safeframe.googlesyndication.com" cookies? people aren't really giving the specifics of what it is that they are seeing when they say that chrome-cookies are not being deleted. but, again, i have not experienced the "safeframe.googlesyndication.com"-cookies-problem, either. it has been said that the "safeframe.googlesyndication.com cookies" are just some type of "placeholder" for ads that appear on webpages. also, it has been said that they orginate from "tpc.googlesyndication.com" ("TPC" stands for "third-party-cookie" ), so i have "tpc.googlesyndication.com" blocked in my HOSTS file, and in my own custom blocklist for the "ublock origin" browser-extension, and in my browsers' cookie-settings, too. https://www.google.com/search?q=safeframe.googlesyndication.com+cookies incidentally, i use the "cookie autodelete" browser-extension. it's possible that that has some bearing on why i am not seeing any problem with cookies not being deleted. i also have my browsers set to block third-party cookies. to add, i am not seeing an issue with the "cookies" file within chrome's new "network" folder, at "C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Network." when i open the file, the only data, there, that i see, is for the few cookies that i have "saved." i created a custom-rule for ccleaner to remove files at chrome's "C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Code Cache\js" while saving the "index" file, there. (those files also can be removed by running chrome's own "clear browsing data" ) the same rules for the edge-chromium browser..
  5. thank you, to all of the moderators in the forum, for all of the help that you provide to everyone. your support is very good.
  6. @haapy, i did some testing and i see, now, what you are talking about, regarding the js-files, within chrome's "code cache\js" folder. they are not removed, automatically, by simple closing the chrome browser, or by simply running ccleaner. however, they are removed if you use chrome's own "clear browsing data." that was why i wasn't seeing a problem, because i always run chrome's own "clear browsing data" before closing the chrome browser. (after having closed the browser, i then run "ccleaner," which removes some additional chrome-files that aren't removed when running chrome's own "clear browsing data" ) another thing is that, a few weeks ago, i switched from using the chrome browser to using the firefox browser. it's a long story but one of the reasons i switched to using the firefox browser was because, with the chrome browser, i was having too many issues with the "noscript" browser-extension, where it was blocking content, causing a problem. i have similar issues, using "noscript" with the firefox browser, too, but it is not as bad, with firefox. the issue, with the cookies allegedly not being deleted, and with the js-files within chrome's "code cache\js"-folder, just came up in the last couple of weeks, after i had switched from using the chrome browser to using firefox, instead.
  7. what you mean is that the ccleaner program is not deleting the file, which is named "cookies," in the "network" folder, and it is not deleting files within the "code cache" folder, but who says that that is a problem, that those files need to be deleted, other than you? that is what i am saying, that i don't think that it actually is a problem that those files that you refer to are not being deleted. i am not seeing that they are a problem, on my computer.
  8. i think it all is nonsense, that there is no problem with the ccleaner program, where it allegedly is not deleting cookies. also, i am not seeing any problems with the files at "C:\Users\("user" )\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Code Cache"
  9. in edge's settings, in "system and performance," you also should disable "startup boost." also, in "cookies and site permissions," you should disable "background sync."
  10. from the first "windowslatest" article, above, "microsoft recommends users reinstall their apps if the apps are crashing." so, to resolve the problem, try uninstalling ccleaner and then reinstalling it, as well as installing the latest windows 11 cumulative update, if you are running windows 11. (install the latest windows 10 cumulative update, if you are running windows 10)
  11. are you running windows 11? some bugs in windows 11 are known to cause apps to crash, and, sometimes, other issues: https://www.windowslatest.com/2021/11/22/microsoft-rushes-out-fix-for-windows-11-bug-crashing-random-apps/ the latest cumulative update for windows 11 supposedly helps to mitigate some of the bugs in windows 11: https://www.windowslatest.com/2021/11/23/windows-11-kb5007262-released-heres-what-new-and-improved/ https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-21h2
  12. if you use the free version of ccleaner, there are no notifications, prompting you to renew your license for the premium version.
  13. shrees, i think you need to adjust ccleaner's settings for cleaning cookies. to do that, go to ccleaner's "options," then "cookies," and move the cookies that you want to keep to "cookies to keep," in order to be able to stay logged in to the websites that you want to stay logged in to.
  14. to solve the problem, try reinstalling ccleaner and then running the uninstall, again. here are some instructions for uninstalling ccleaner: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/204043874-How-do-I-uninstall-CCleaner-#how-do-i-uninstall-ccleaner--0-0 (scroll down the webpage for instructions for uninstalling programs in windows 10) i have never had a problem with uninstalling ccleaner.
  15. the only explanation for it is that you had already installed the trial version, before, and that the trial period had expired.
  16. megan has you on the right path. unfortunately you have not followed her instructions to install the "isrgrootx1.der" file. when installing the "isrgrootx1.der" file, choose "place all certificates in the following store" and choose "Trusted Root Certification Authorities." here is another article related to the issue: https://techglimpse.com/dst-root-ca-x3-expired-certificate-error/ the article, above, has a link for downloading the "isrgrootx1.der" file, "step 5." if you follow the instructions to install the isrgrootx1.der file, hopefully that will resolve the issue with the expired letsencrypt root certificate. you said you are running windows 10 in which case i don't think you should have had an issue with the expired root certificate. in all the other cases that i have seen, people who experienced the problem were running windows 7, which is unsupported and so was not being updated, which was why they had an issue with the expired root certificate. i think that, if you did a clean install of windows 10-21H1, with all of the latest updates applied, that is one way you could fix the problem with the expired root certificate. it is possible that something is wrong with your windows 10-installation, seeing that you had an issue with the expired root certificate. otherwise i don't think you would have had an issue with the expired root certificate, unless you have been deliberately blocking windows updates for the past several months, or longer. you mentioned that you have firefox installed. firefox, if it is up-to-date, does not have the same problem with the expired root certificate since it has its own set of root certficates. so you might need to use the firefox browser to access some of the websites and downloads, until the issue with the expired root certificate is resolved.
  17. the newly released ccleaner v5.85.9170 is not yet available for downloading from ccleaner.com. (i got it through the ccleaner program's automatic-updating). please make the new version available for downloading. i like to have the program backed up locally. edit: i was able to download the current version of the ccleaner program. it is just the information on the webpage that has not yet been updated.
  18. here is a related article: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-is-offering-a-confusing-mess-of-intel-driver-updates/
  19. it's "normal." other people have commented about the issue with the dates of the intel drivers, in the past. people noticed the issue with the dates of the intel drivers when "windows update" was trying to install them.
  20. it is nothing to worry about.. you will see that after clicking on any files on your computer.. that is where they come from..
  21. i am sorry that you are having problems, dalea.. i wish i could help.. i hope that you manage to get things straightened out..
  22. i uninstalled CCleaner build 1.35.424 and installed the older build 1.34.407 and build 1.34.407 removed the MS updates uninstaller files..
  23. i am running the latest version of ccleaner, build 1.35.424, and, unlike all of the previous versions of ccleaner that i have used, it will not remove the MS updates uninstaller files and folders, the files that are using for uninstalling MS updates..
  24. i noticed that with the new version of CCleaner, in "options", CCleaner is not recognizing cookies that i have on my computer so that i can add them to "cookies to keep"..
  25. if you want to use microsoft's "ms virtual machine" you can download it here: MS Virtual Machine after you install "ms virtual machine", it is very important to go to the "windows updates" website and scan for "updates" and get the security patch for ms virtual machine.
