  1. rridgely, I have checked in services as I have already stated several times in this thread . Zcfgsvc.exe is NOT a service. It is part of the Intel wireless software and is listed in the start tab of MSconfig. I have unchecked it and it still starts up. Also I stated in my first post that I have Autoruns installed and I don't see Zcfgsvc.exe listed. It was listed before I unchecked it in MSconfig but since unchecking it it is no longer listed in Autoruns. Now I have another laptop and when I uncheck Zcfgsvc.exe in MSconfig it disables the process from starting. Can't figure out why it still starts up on one laptop and not the other.
  2. Zcfgsvc.exe running in Process Explorer is listed in the start tab of MS Config. I don't have a Intel Zero Config in services. There is?a?Wireless Zero Config in the services but that is in C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs. The?Zcfgsvc.exe is in the C:\Program Files\Intel\Wireless\bin\ZCfgSvc.exe. Two different things. Unchecking Zcfgsvc.exe in MS Config should disable it but it doesn't.
  3. I have been going through my services and processes seeing what I can kill to clean things up. Turns out I have had the services and processes running for Intel Wireless and I don't need them at all since I let windows XP manage my wireless connection. I have been able to kill 7 running processes just from Intel Wireless. The problem is with the Zcfgsvc.exe process. In MS Config on the start up tab this process was checked. I unchecked it but it still starts up with Windows. It is now unchecked in MS Config but still starts up. I kill it with Process Explorer and everything runs great so I don't need it. How do I stop this from starting up besides uninstalling Intel Wireless? I have Autoruns installed and I don't see this entry in there so I can't disable it in there either unless I am missing something.
  4. Actually now that I have taken a closer look the speed dial feature is much cooler than what Maxthon has.
  5. Izarc is another good one and probably has the most formats of all them. If not the most it has many more than most others.
  6. That feature has been available in Maxthon for a long time now. It's great if you like the key board. I hate the key board and prefer to use it as little as possible so it's easier for me to just use book marks.
  7. I think I have found the problem. It was how the Java script options are set in the Opera versions I am having trouble with. I set them the same as the Opera 8.54 versions I use and it works fine now. ?False alarm.
  8. It is a problem for me with Opera 9.02 and 9.10 on two different machines. Opera 8.54 is working OK though. What version are you using?
  9. I am a big fan of side bars. For Firefox I use the All In One Side Bar extension and set it up to be on the right of my screen and auto hide. All I have to do is move my cursor to the right side of the screen and it opens the side bar. I also set Opera up to have the side bar on my right. I never leave the side bar open thats just a waste of space.
  10. I don't know if this should be in this forum or the software forum but does any body else notice Opera browser does not work correctly on the CClenaer forums? When ever I try to post a reply my replys seem to enter as one long line. They don't start another line as they should. Than when I select to preview my reply it is a mess. Words broken apart because half of the word is on one line and the other half is on another line. Usually the first line works well than when a second line starts it runs on and will not start a third line. I have confirmed this on two machines so far.
  11. I read that guide to and picked up some good tips from it. One of the suggestions from the author was to take look at Black Viper's Window's Services Guide to help you figure out what you can disable safely. Here is what Black viper says about the Application Layer Gateway Service. http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/Services/A...way_Service.htm He say the manual setting is safe but but it kept on starting up when setting to manual for me. I was concerned it would break the Windows Fire Wall if I disabled it but it doesn't and he says it won't since Service Pack 2.
  12. Well it's good to hear you haven't had any problems since disabling it. I am using the Windows Firewall, also I am behind a hard ware fire wall in my router and they play nicely together, and the Windows Firewall is running fine with ALG.exe disabled. One more waste of resources zapped.
  13. I have been going through my services and processes seeing which ones I can terminate to stream line things. I have been using Google as well as Black Viper's site and The elder Geek site for the services. ALG.exe is a process running as a result of the Application Layer Gateway Service. The results from Google are mixed about this service. It is apparently needed for the Windows Firewall but Black Viper says it's not since SP2. I have disabled the service and Windows Fire Wall works fine. Any body have this service disabled and have you noticed any negative results?
  14. Just curious why some of you download the whole winapp2? I just copy and paste the specific entries I will use.
  15. I use 12 extensions and have about 7 skins installed. As long as Firefox doesn't go too much over 100 MB I don't worry too much. The least amount of RAM on my systems is 1.5 GB the others have more. Even so if Firefox started going significantly over 100 MB then I know there is a problem that needs to be fixed. IE uses the most memory of all 6 browsers I have installed.
  16. Interesting that you have not had Firefox go over 60 MB. Fire fox loads at about 40-45 MB right off the bat om my machines. It hits a 100 MB regularly for me on all systems and with previous versions. Reading the Firefox forums and knowledge base 100MB is pretty normal for Firefox. How do you manage such low memory usage?
  17. ?? Yes I found that out after installing and trying it. Thanks.
  18. Nobody useing IE7 and Tweak UI 2.10?
  19. I was looking at this app and read over the licensing conditions to use it for free. I am still laughing my A$$ off. The guy means well but his conditions are ridiculous and totally unenforceable. You really need to read the fine print of these apps or the computer Gestapo will get you. Here is a copy and paste of the funniest part. You may use the program free of charge indefinitely only if You take at most 4 flights (2 return flights) in any 12 month period AND you do not own or regularly drive an SUV (sports utility vehicle). If you do not qualify you must uninstall the program after the 30-day trial period or purchase WordWeb Pro.
  20. Is there anybody using this that has IE7 installed? Does the IE tweaks in Tweak UI 2.10 work in IE7?
  21. There are many people on the support forum for Ajax that are having the Java error problem. It's been ongoing for about a year. Some have said they fixed the problem by using a different server to access the Ajax site. The Europeans are having this problem and say it's fixed when using the US server. http://www.ajaxlaunch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=250 I am in Canada and I get the errors every time I try to save. That link I provided to the tread on their forum is like the 6th one on the front page of the ajaxwrite forum and it's last post is December 26, 2006. Doesn't seem like there is much support for this.
  22. I have been playing around with the word processor and it's not working very well. Can't save anything. I keep getting java errors. Looked at the support forum and this has been going on for about a year and not much has been done to fix it.

I haven't noticed a context menu bug in 5.82 since I installed a few days ago. I think the bug that was reported was hanging or crashing of explorer on some systems.

It is obvious now that I look at it. The first time I read it I just totally over looked the underlined part Why do you prefer 5.7?
