  1. They don't need to pay you. They pay the major computer manufacturers to install it. Than make it difficult for you to uninstall it.
  2. McAfee has been giving 3 month trials away for a long time on Dell, HP and other computers. Crap comes preinstalled. These clowns at Dell and HP get paid to force Mccrappy and Norton on you. You have to fight with Dell (which I did) to get your system without the garbage on it. Every computer I see in the stores around here has either Norton or McAfee installed. Have fun removing this stuff if you decide you don't want it.
  3. Yes, them and Norton. They will eat your computer
  4. Well after this last security update crapsplorer is now over 65 MB and climbing. Thats 6 Operas and a couple Firefoxes. Both browsers being about 100X better. This time next year I have no trouble seeing IE being at least a couple hundred MB. That is a very large turd. MS should go into the fertalizer business.
  5. I don't use commercial programs. Why bother when there are many good free ones?
  6. Exactly what I think. As some one said Vista is XP service pack 3. It only took MS what 6 years to come up with this.
  7. I knew I wasn't going to be impressed with Vista when I first used IE7. All the time MS took to develop IE7 and it was already 5 years outdated when it was released. IE7 was a step backwards in many ways compared to IE6. I thought to myself if this is what I can expect from Vista after all these years in development than I won't be impressed and I'm not.
  8. I was in a computer store the other day and playing around with a machine that had Vista on it. Seems more like XP than different. Not enough of a change to make me want to upgrade. The thing was using almost half a gig just sitting there with the desk top showing. Bloated XP. When it's time for a new machine I think I will get a Mac. If I ever do go to Vista it will be several years and service packs later.
  9. You have four choices for the type of scan you want. The most thorough scan (also the longest) is faster than Superantispyware which everybody raves about. I run the scan one every week or two so I don't care how long it takes as long as it's thorough. Of all the spyware programs I have SAS is by far the longest scan.
  10. Maybe you would like Opera 9. Comes with mouse gestures built in and ad blocking. I use them all. Firefox 2, Opera 8.54 and 9.20, Maxthon 1 and 2, and I have IE7 just for Maxthon to run off. I like playing around with browsers.
  11. What extra screen space? Firefox with the Autohide extension gives you a tool bar free screen and they all auto hide. IE7 has a half a$$ed version of autohide. You can't autohide all the toolbars or the Google Tool Bar. If you select full screen the Google Tool Bar disappears and will not auto hide. Same with the menu bar. Have you used Maxthon? If so how does it compare IE7 + IE7 Pro in your opinion?
  12. I have been using it for about 3 months now maybe longer and I have not had one false positive. I tried the online version before that and did get many false positives. Only used it about a week though.
  13. Well there is another security update for Internet Crapsplorer 7. This is what I knew would happen when I started this thread. Won't be long now and we will have a one gig piece of crap.
  14. The Uberoptions is a?program?you?add?to?Logiteck?Set?Point?to?unlock/get?access?to?more?options?for?the?mouse.??Anybody?use?this?and?if?so?any???????problems? http://www.mstarmetro.net/~rlowens/uberOptions/
  15. This happens often in AVG. It happens after Microsoft updates or some other changes you make on the machine. AVG is just letting you know that there was a change but it is not an infection. To get the changes to stop appearing on a scan you need to do a "system scan". Launch the "Test Center" and go to the main menu at the top and select "tests". Than select "scan system areas". You can also use the short cut F3. When this scan runs you will get pop up dialog boxes notifying you of the changes. Select "allow changes" and the changes will not appear again in your scans. Of course the next time you change something or a MS update does you will see the changes listed again in the AVG scan results but than just follow the instructions I gave to accept them again. I have done this about 5 times now. Mostly after MS updates. Here is a link to the AVG forum and a thread about it. The mod explains it a little better. There are many threads on the forum about it. http://forum.grisoft.cz/freeforum/read.php...97087#msg-97087
  16. I never had the problem so I can't say.
  17. I haven't had an issue with this yet. Updates fine 95% of the time. The odd time I get a server error message. When that happens I try again later and it works fine.
  18. Well the way I look at it is that these apps do no harm and since none of them are running real time on my system they use no resources and they are small apps so they use very little disk space, which I have plenty of anyway, so I have them installed if I need them. No app gets all the malware so having a layered defense makes sense to me.
  19. Yeah I know about CW Shredder but I just haven't bothered to remove it and if I do get any of the variations of CoolWebSearch that it removes than I am prepared. As far as Highjack This is concerned it certainly is more than a diagnostic tool. It removes things the other apps can't/won't. Besides even if it was just a diagnostic tool any forum you got to to get malware help asks you to post a Highjack This log so you really should have it.
  20. I have the three you mentioned as well as A-squared, Spybot, Windows Defender, CW Shredder, and Hijack This. I am ready to kick some malware a$$.
  21. If you need to use IE and want all the features and more of IE7 Pro just install Maxthon.
  22. HA HA you are a little late. It's a final release now.
  23. I meant I didn't see the point in downloading the pre release if the final is going to only be a few days after. SAS does a good job of upgrading their app. I have used it from very early on in it's release and updated every time a new version has been released and never had a problem yet.
  24. Wasn't it just a day or two ago that they pre released 3.7? Now they have a final release of 3.7. Two days of pre release, whats the point?
