  1. I'm not sure but I think there's a hidden task scheduled wherein the system "optimizes" when the hard drive is idle, when this service is disable the optimization may have chances to be affected, or not. Application Layer Gateway service is used by Windows XP built-in inbound firewall. Google Blackviper's site to see what services should be left running
  2. A leaktest will always be leaktest It can be used for starters since it's not like other "complicated" leaktest with this hoohas hooked to this wahoo and wants to yipee.
  3. Not being rude or anything bad but that type of leaktest is really old, there are better leaktests scattered around the net. Just check on Matousec's firewall test results and check the leaktests used and try them by yourself.
  4. Now users won't be confused for the first time when scanning for "issues" What about a skinning feature in future versions?
  5. They should also accept if someone doesn't want to be spied by the FBI, unless that person is a notorious one.
  6. I was actually visited by my beloved grandma also known as the "Victoria" of our familiy The story isn't much spooky though, more like my grandma wants to protect me when I'm alone When I was in my bro's room playing good ol' GT2, the door opened up, and then I looked for someone who's playing tricks on me (my neighborhood friend does this a lot), but no one's there. I got back and resumed the game, again the door opened up and closed without seeing a hand holding the door knob, then I knew it was grandma. At first I though she was haunting me but later on I understood her reason. I just played again hiding under the blanket and seeing door open and close, then it stopped. I waited for my bro to return from school and went down and explained everything. After some months after grandma's death, she "came back" to the house, probably she misses us. Now I know there's someone looking for us, protecting and guiding us. My guess about ghost is that it is somethin' not meant to be fully understood by physical beings and will only be realized by those who are spirits already.
  7. From what I know you still need to download it
  8. What now? Messages appearing in the "Ads by Google" section? BTW, that glitch is kinda spooky for me too
  9. So much for the delayed reply Most of them are my brother's "files" and I don't want to mess with it. I do have a separate account which is the "Administrator" account everybody knows and practically hidden from the normal account selection. That account has a lot less clutter, probably occupying 2.5 rows starting from the lest
  10. I'm an "install-a-holic", especially on system maintenance softwares and security updates, therefore Limited User Account is a hassle to me. I have Sandboxie to take care of my browser, if I'm doing something tricky I just load Powershadow and all goes well.
  11. What stress it will give to a "75 year old computer"! Anyway that's somethin' someone with a dedicated server will ever dream of, no more lag...

    Sandboxie

A simple, everyday use "sandbox" evolved to a hardcore, strict sandbox. I wanna play with sandboxing Windows Explorer!

    My new site

Clean and direct to the point. Very friendly for those who are new in the security class!
  14. I want to remove some right click entries or somethin' but I don't know what part of the registry
  15. Seems nice, but what about bugs?
  16. ǝıd ǝʞı1 ı Wow. I really like this thing! ʍoʍ. ı ɹǝɐ11ʎ 1ıʞǝ ʇɥıs ʇɥınq?

    Prevx 2.0

Comment no. 22 of Prevx 2 by Jonathan I should better be careful on this one, as I have tried some HIPS causing "back problems" especially when GreenBorder was still independent. Plus the results shown in av-comparatives somehow lowered my trust on this program. Anyone encountered an uninstall problem?
  18. Indeed I say. Congratulations Andy!!!
  19. Hahaha Now guitar playing is a gamble for life

    Shift key

I unticked every box I could find in the StickyKeys section and no more dialogs for me! I just pressed 5 shift keys in a row and nothing happens Here's the settings
  21. Ours is barebones and those HDs with "hidden partitions" like what HP have on their hard drives are non-existent on such country where I live in. Still I wonder how it is done, and it can greatly help in gettin' the files again
  22. From my previous experience, my bro did something and reinstalled windows with files (from the profile folder, except programs that write in the registry and will require reinstallation) and updates intact. I'm not sure if it's the BIOS or a feature itself or the Restore feature created by Microsoft. Giving an info to show that "reformat loses all files" is not always true
  23. I think you only need to disable the driver. There could be cases in which your dial-up modem could prove its use so physically removing it can be a bad idea.
