Yeah it's definitely not a scam. Giveaway of the Day is a pretty reputable site...they wouldn't distribute adware/malware. It even gives you the opportunity to save back-ups of your existing drivers if you want to easily roll back.

You might also want to give Driver Magician a try. It's excellent, but not free, although I got it for free through Giveaway of the Day.

Very nice software. I love the GUI! My only criticisms are very long scan times to detect hardware info, and not as much info for each item as competing tools (understandable considering it's an initial beta release). Overall though, very nice software!

Until recently, I really liked IObit's SmartDefrag product. I've since switched to Auslogics Disk Defrag (which is now better with V3), but would stop using SmartDefrag anyway because of this news. How shameful!

Thanks, but when I tried step 1, I got an error saying that "'GoogleUpdaterService' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." As for step 2, there is no file on my system with that name, or anything with the word "Google" in it.

I'm putting this in Software, since I don't know where else to put it. I used to have Google Updater installed, but have uninstalled it long ago. I recently noticed (after using WinPatrol for the first time), that there is still a Google Updater service installed. It's set to manual and isn't currently running, but I'd like to delete it since obviously it is no longer necessary. How do I go about doing that?

The only Adobe product I use is Flash. Of course, Adobe really can't take credit for that fine product.

I'm aware of what software is, and I still think posts about hosts files belong in the Windows Security forum. Threads about anti-virus software are about.....software, yet they still get posted in the Windows Security forum. It was just a friendly suggestion, but hey, what do I know? You're the mod!

I don't know about MKV, but it does support AVI and MP4.

Thanks, abu. Unfortunately, even after following the instructions in that link and then uninstalling/reinstalling Sandboxie, I STILL get the same error. I'm at a loss at this point. We'll see what the Sandboxie forum says. Unfortunately, that's not uncommon. Windows 2000 is often listed as being "officially supported", but there is no mention of things like this that prevent the app from functioning on Win2k.
