I am using the latest version of KPF, but that doesn't mean it's new. Version 2.1.5 was released in 2003, and was the last Kerio version before the software was taken over by Sunbelt. I think the common idea that "an old firewall is a bad/weak firewall" is not true. Like I said in my previous post, even with my hardware firewall turned off, KPF got a perfect stealth rating on the GRC ShieldsUp port test, and seems to catch all software that tries to access the internet. What that means to me is, it's working as well as more modern firewalls like Outpost, ZoneAlarm, Comodo, Sunbelt, etc. The reason I want such a lightweight firewall is because it's for my older laptop (PIII 500, 256MB RAM) which doesn't take well to more resource intensive firewalls like Outpost. I do use Outpost on my new laptop however (Athlon 64 X2, 1GB RAM, etc).

Yes it is! How in the world did you find that? I'll probably be sticking with KPF since it's as lightweight as JPF and much easier to use, but thank you because it's nice to have backups in case they're needed in the future.

It's already cleaning Internet History. Just not Cookies or Cache.

Thanks everyone! Those sites are great (except for oldapps.com which is blocked by my hosts file, so I'm assuming it isn't 100% safe). I didn't end up finding a JPF download, but instead went with Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.5. It's basically Sunbelt Personal Firewall, but uses far less system resources. KPF is old, but works great! I exposed my PC directly to the internet (by adding my PC to my router's DMZ) and did a full port scan on GRC.com, and KPF stealthed all my ports. If anyone is looking for an ultra lightweight firewall, I heartily recommend KPF.

It's working for me, but only partially. CCleaner is cleaning the Internet History, but not Cookies or Cache. I'm sure the developers will include the rest of the items in their next release.

Yeah, I read that on the Opera Desktop Blog as well, but again, since 10 RC will be nearly identical to 10 Final, I see no reason to wait to include CCleaner support until September 1st. Hopefully the Piriform developers will include 10 RC cleaning with their next release. Also, I should note that with 10 RC installed, Opera DOES appear in the Applications tab of CCleaner. However, when running the cleaner, it does not appear that any Opera-related files are actually cleaned. Just a FYI.

I thought I remember reading a thread on this forum a while back about a site that lists the last free version of software. Much of that software ended up becoming shareware. I quick Google search didn't find anything useful. Does anyone remember this site? The reason I ask is because I'm looking for a download of Jetico Personal Firewall v1. I used in a couple years ago, but since then JPF has been upgraded to v2 which is shareware (v1 was always free). Jetico has removed the download for v1 and I have not been able to locate a site that still offers it. I'd really like to find JPF v1, so any help anyone can lend is appreciated!

I know burn-in is more of a concern on CRT and plasma monitors, but aren't LCD monitors still somewhat susceptible to it? Hazelnut, thanks for the link!

Actually if you read the Opera documentation, there will be no changes from now on...only bug fixes. That means 10 final will be nearly identical to the current 10 RC, meaning it would be a prudent reaction for Piriform to include 10 RC cleaning, NOT a knee-jerk reaction. Also, winapp2.ini has not been updated since February 22, and I don't consider myself capable of editing it, so that doesn't sound like a place to go for instant change to me.

Yeah, but Opera is out of Beta now, and I don't want it installed in a Beta folder indefinitely, just so CCleaner can clean it. Are you suggesting that from now on, all users should install Opera 10 RC and later in a special folder, rather than the next release of CCleaner simply clean version 10 RC + normally? I think CCleaner should fully support Opera the way it always has.

With the release today of Opera 10 RC, CCleaner is no longer cleaning the latest Opera build (10 RC installs in a different place than 10 Beta).

I have a weird problem on my Windows XP SP3 Home computer. In the Display Properties window, a screen saver is selected, but it will not actually turn on. This is the case no matter which screen saver is selected. Screen savers DO work when clicking the Preview button, but they do not turn on after the set number of idle minutes. I found this article on the Microsoft support site, but it doesn't apply to me because this happens whether or not I use an external mouse. What can I do to resolve this problem?

What I'd like to do is save a YouTube video (that part is easy) and then edit it so just a portion of the video is left, rather than the whole thing. Same here. I used AVG for years, and then switched to Avira and haven't looked back. I'm considering paying for ESET NOD32 though.

Yeah I just checked, and it's still not loading. It gets stuck on "waiting for connection to ftp.opera.com." My crappy ISP (Charter) has been even crappier today, so maybe that's why. EDIT: For some reason, FTP sites are not loading in Opera. Any idea why? I had to use K-Meleon to download the install file. And yes, Beta 3 is very fast!
