  1. Yeah, they're not there. It could because I'm running Windows 2000, but hopefully this is something the developers can correct.
  2. "- Added icons to tree parent items" I do not see any icons next to any items in 2.13.720. This is on Windows 2000 SP4.
  3. Two major hosts file updates in two days. http://hosts-file.net/?s=Download

  5. FYI, the same update was released today for Windows 2000. It sure was weird to see updates come out on a day other than Patch Tuesday.

    Opera 9.61

There are a few security fixes and feature enhancements. http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/windows/961
  7. How fast is it compared to Opera 9.6?
  8. I already mentioned this to Kenny on a different forum, but for the benefit of anyone who may read this, WOT has a bookmarklet for Opera and Safari that works very nicely. http://www.mywot.com/en/blog/wot-bookmarkl...afari-and-opera
  9. You're right, I hadn't used it in several months...since version 9.27 or so. Maybe the speed difference started with version 9.5 and not 9.6, but I think my recommendation is still valid. It's a remarkably fast browser!

    Opera 9.6

Opera version 9.6 has just been released. I won't bother listing all the updates and additions since that's available on opera.com, but what I wanted to mention is the SPEED. Thus far, I had stuck with browsers that use IE's engine simply because of how fast it was. Firefox and Opera always seemed much slower to me. Now with 9.6, Opera is a speed demon! Page load times have dramatically decreased, so for those of you who haven't tried Opera, or have switched to something else, now is a great time to give the latest version a try!
  11. I hope that keyboard lasts for you. A while back, I bought a MI keyboard that only lasted me about a year when a few keys stopped working. There were no spills or any abuse...they just died.
  12. I've never had any problems with P2P software. You just have to be careful about which software you install and what kind of sharing/downloading you do. By the far the best I've ever used is FrostWire. It's a modified and improved version of the very popular Lime Wire.
  13. Sign up for a new account? Just download and install it again.
  14. CCleaner has a built-in registry cleaner...
  15. I think Winamp is the best, but another very good (but not very well-known) media player is Quintessential Player.
  16. Kenny, I just tried it on my XP SP3 machine with both IE7 and Firefox 3.01. I got the exact same log-in error. Could you please PM the site admin and let him know the forum registration system is broken? I'd like to try and get this resolved. Beta 5 is working on the XP system too, but it only occurs on Windows 2000.
  17. I haven't had a chance to try registering on XP yet. Every other site works on my Win2k machine, that's why I thought the problem was on abelhadigital's side. You're probably right that the reason I am experiencing problems with Beta 5 is because I'm running 2000. However, I think that application developers should allow their apps to work with it since it is still fully supported. Also, every version of HostsMan has worked with 2000 right up until Beta 5...that includes the Beta 4 which I am running now. Most likely, the problem is minor and can be corrected by the author. HostsMan/HostsServer are such quality, useful apps, I'd hate to not be able to use the latest version!
  18. That's what I've been trying to do all day. Every time I fill out the forms and click "complete registration", I get this message: The error returned was: Sorry, you are not permitted to use this board . Can you get in touch with a mod or admin there? Maybe the registration system is broken? I am filling out all fields of the registration form properly, yet the it fails each and every time. By the way, Windows 2000 IS supported by Microsoft. It may be in it's "extended" support phase, but it still receives monthly patches, and will continue to do so until July of 2010.
  19. I just upgraded to HostsMan Beta 5, but now every time I try to start the program, I get the error "hm.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program." Every version of HostsMan has worked, including the recent Beta 4. Now, I can't even find a download for Beta 4 to go back to that! This is very frustrating. I also tried to register as a member on abelhadigital.com to post this problem there, and I get a forum error every single time. What's going on here? YoKenny? This is on Windows 2000 SP4. EDIT: I just installed Beta 4 from MajorGeeks and it works fine. It's only Beta 5 that gives me that error.
  20. I have used TightVNC extensively. It's easy to use, has more features than RealVNC, and is free!
  21. I updated late Monday night. Did I get those latest additions, or should I update again?
  22. FlashGet Probably the best third-party download manager.
  23. Hopefully I am understanding your question correctly. The version of IE that will be used with that plug-in is the version that you currently have installed. If you have IE6 installed, Trident IV will be used to render pages, and if IE7 is installed, Trident V will be used.
  24. I get the same false positives. Each time I scan I get the "remove log off from Start menu" item. Why would I want to remove that? It's handy to have it right there...
