I've tried Avast Home, AVG Free, and ClamWin, but the only one I like is AntiVir Personal Edition Classic. It scans relatively fast and its easy to turn off it's real-time feature.

I use the hardware firewall in my LinkSys wired router. For software, I use Sygate Personal Firewall. Its as effective as any software firewall out there and uses much less system resources than ZA.
