  1. Thanks! First time I've seen all three sources I use updated in the same day.
  2. One of my computers is a Dell Vostro 1000 with a AMD Athlon 64x2 (CCleaner reports it correctly), however Speccy reports my CPU as an AMD Turion 64x2. I can post more info about this system, screenshots, etc if necessary.
  3. Iron has been updated to 6.0.475. More information is available here.
  4. I did just that. As far as I can tell, AntiVir uses ~15MB of RAM, whereas the combined memory usage of Avast's processes is ~40MB. However, it seems like Avast offers more protection, such as IM and e-mail protection. Even though the memory usage is higher, I might be sticking with Avast!
  5. Looks good! What dock software do you use? I personally use RocketDock. I prefer it over ObjectDock because it's completely free and offers some things OD does only for a fee.
  6. I've been using Avira AntiVir on all my computers for a long time, but am considering switching to Avast (I would use NOD32, but can't see myself paying for something when there are good free alternatives). Can someone let me know which uses the least memory/system resources, Avira or Avast?
  7. I seem to be the only one using a dock. That's surprising.
  8. Because of the tracking/privacy concerns, I'm sticking with SRWare Iron as my secondary browser (Opera is primary). SRWare will be coming out with a 6.x version shortly as well.
  9. I wasn't even aware of this bug, but thanks for the quick fix!
  10. I've only been using Windows 7 for a couple weeks, but so far I really don't see anything wrong with it. It feels just as fast or faster than XP and has a much more attractive UI. No one can blame Microsoft for "killing off" XP at this point, considering how long it's been out. I can see why corporations would stick with XP as long as possible because of the cost and complexity of upgrading all corporate machines to 7, but for the home user, as long as you have a computer capable of running it, I see no reason not to upgrade from XP to 7.
  11. For those of you that might be interested, I got the display drivers working! When using the automated installer from ATI, the insallation always failed, saying something about incompatibility. However, I tried going to Device Manager, manually selecting the driver folder from ATI, and it worked! I now have the same video performance that I had when running XP.
  12. Thanks for the input guys, appreciate it! I now have 7 Ultimate up and running. All drivers are working except for the display driver (I still have a display, but using a standard/universal driver). I've been scouring the net, but if anyone knows where to find a Windows 7 driver for the ATI Radeon Mobility 9000, please let me know!
  13. Thanks for the info! You won't believe this, but my network card is VERY close what is in that list, but not exactly. The Device ID is 16A6. The closest in that list is 16A7. That still doesn't leave me with a Windows 7 driver for my NIC.
  14. I think the max this machine can handle is 2GB, which I may very well do eventually, but what about the driver issues described in the Upgrade Advisor?
  15. My concern is that 1GB is the minimum requirement, and I only have just above that. I don't want to run Windows 7 if it will be any slower than what I'm running now. I'm attaching a screenshot of the results of the Upgrade Advisor. Please let me know what you think...especially about the video card and LAN card drivers.
  16. I'm interested in upgrading my machine from XP Pro SP3 to Windows 7. My computer isn't exactly bleeding edge , but XP is lightening quick on it and I've been told by a few people that it should still run 7 somewhat decently (see my sig for basic specs). I certainly wouldn't expect to use any of the fancy UI features that require more powerful hardware, but hopefully a basic install of Home Premium (or even Basic) will run alright. What do ya'll think?
  17. Not very exciting, but I like it.
  18. Exactly. This is the most well-run forum I've ever been a part of. There's no need for a voting system here.
  19. Yes it sure can. I've seen it abused on other forums running this software. The worst part is the voting is done anonymously so no one has any idea who is voting a certain way or why. Really really dumb. That's why I was initially disappointed when Piriform switched to IP.Board.
  20. I upgraded via Microsoft Update with no issues.
  21. Is that directed at me? If so, of course! That's not to say that I don't like cats...I just prefer dogs 10:1. My dog (Glory), is actually very good with cats (my roommate in college had one). Dash, the Lab mix, is unknown in this area as we've only had him for 2 months. However, if Glory comes across a cat while outside on a walk, she tends to give chase, so cats that don't know her give her a wide berth.
  22. For those of you that use the hphosts hosts file, have you tried the "hpHosts (Partial)" source? I use it in addition to the MVPS and regular hpHosts because it is update every single day, so you always have the latest blocked sites even in between main updates.
  23. Dogs! I have a 5-year-old female Golden Retriever which I've had since she was 6 weeks old, and my girlfriend just got a 1-year-old male Black Labrador Retriever/Cocker Spaniel mix. They're both fun, well-behaved dogs that we couldn't live without.
