Hello I think I understand what you are saying. The installation was somehow corrupted, and now you can't uninstall it? First download, and install VB, just in case. I would boot into Safe Mode. The install CCleaner again (do not try to uninstall it first). Hopefully, that will reinstall it without any corruption. If that doesn't work, it would be helpful to know what OS you are running, your firewall, and antivirus. Good Luck, Kristin

Hi Allen Crist Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling CCleaner? Make sure that you check those settings during the installation. Also, if you are using Norton and/or Windows Defender...try turning them off during the installation. They have been known to corrupt installations from time to time. Let us know if you get it working.

Hi pentool, welcome I'm not really sure what's happening. My guess is that you have a setting under Advanced that is doing it. Uncheck everything under Advanced and let us know if it's still happening.

Are you positive that CCleaner isn't finished cleaning? Some cleaning doesn't take place until reboot. In the Option > Advanced is "Close Program After Cleaning" checked? After that I would check this. Let us know if that works. Good Luck.

One of the members here, AndyManchesta, uploaded the IE7 beta 2 uninstaller for people who accidentally delete it using CCleaner. Send him a PM if you need it. Or do a search, because he posted it here somewhere.

ROFLMAO As for you Aaron. You aren't making sense at this point. First you said that you didn't want the folder to be recognized by other programs, but now you want the items in the folder to magically disappear at some point because the name of the folder is Temp? Say what you mean, and mean what you say so that people aren't running in circles trying to help. Also, Aaron. I'm sure that you will now play with your environment variables now that you know what they are. I suggest you write down the correct settings before changing that stuff around. Changing your environment variables is how people lose "Real Important Documents". I do suggest that you don't mess with your environment variables at all, but I know you better than that. NOTE: Don't put anything like C:\WINDOWS in your environment variable. That will cause CCleaner to wipe out your entire OS. LMAO

I would like to add that it's not safe to use the hotfix uninstaller if you're using IE7 Beta. The uninstaller for IE7 is a hotfix uninstaller, so CCleaner will delete it. That is the only glich, oh, and the same for SP2. If you downloaded SP2 the uninstaller is a hotfix uninstaller. Aside from those two apps you are fine. K

Okay, I need you to answer a few questions. 1. Is USER.EXE in your system32, and dllcache folder? 2. Did you download, AND install SP2? 3. What version of XP are you using? Home or Professional? 4. Why don't you understand the difference between Cmd.exe, and Command.com? What steps do you take to run a DOS application? By telling me how you run a DOS application I will know if you're using Cmd.exe, or Command.com. Please answer the questions matching the answers to the question using numbers. Well my instructions (in Post #12) were to include hidden system folders to search for USER.EXE. Cutepuffy 16 said that it didn't show up in the search so I suggested that she reinstall it into system32 and the dllcache. Some people have had the same problem as this one and corrected it by re-installing USER.EXE. Others have corrected the same problem by running DOS programs from Command.com instead of Cmd.exe. That is all that I know.

Ah, now I get what you were saying. And I didn't mean to imply that you aren't legit. I thought you just might be bypassing some BS.

Yeah, Tarun. How are you getting your updates? Are you just using a workaround? I had never found it necessary, but now I'm wondering about that.

Have you just tried uninstalling then reinstalling MSN Messenger by any chance? If so, what happened? I have MSN Messenger on all of my machines and CCleaner on all of my machines. I run CCleaner about 3 times a day and I have never had the same problem. Many people here would be more than happy to help you fix your problem.
