  1. You can get the last freeware version here: http://www.aplusfreeware.com/categories/util/uninst.html It is slower than ZSoft but is more effective and reliable IMO
  2. I never was completely convinced by ZSoft's uninstaller. Yes it was quick but it just didn't seem to have the useability of Total Uninstall and most importantly Total Uninstall has never let me down, ZSoft's did the first time I used it. Never heard of this Revo Uninstaller, though I seem to remember trying a similar program from 'Giveaway of the Day' a couple of months back and found it had the potential to cause problems so got rid of it. May give this a try though when I get a chance.
  3. Just stumbled across this article and thought it was of interest: http://www.crn.com/white-box/200900857
  4. I don't like NoScript either, just found it to be a major PITA. Got sick going through "Aaargh, why won't this site work? Oh need to tell NoScript its ok..... ....Aaargh, why won't this site work either? Oh need to tell NoScript its ok" And repeat ad infinitum
  5. From the CCleaner Beginners Guide:
  6. CCleaner only runs the cleaner section at startup, it does not run the issues cleaner at startup due to the danger of fixing registry problems automatically.

    Dell laptops?

Thanks for all the replies. I finally managed to get the original laptop with XP instead of Vista (so no messing about uninstalling and reinstalling). Asked on their online chat and once again got refused point blank. Stated that a 'friend' (ie someone on the other forum this offer is being discussed) had just ordered the exact same laptop and managed to get it with XP. At which point, after a minute or so pause, he did a u-turn and said that if I called their sales phoneline they could offer me it there. Called, stated what the chat agent had said and they gave me it with XP without even querying it. The Indian call centre is hard work, but got there in the end. So in a couple of weeks I'll be the owner of a shiny new laptop, ?327 including VAT and delivery, final spec: Vostro 1000: AMD? Athlon™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology TK53 15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display 1GB 553 MHz Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM (2x 512 MB) Hard Drive 120GB Serial ATA (5400RPM) DVD+/-RW Drive 8x ATI Radeon? Xpress 1150 HyperMemory (integrated) UK Modem Cable and Adapter Internal V.92 Data, Fax, Voice Functions Dell Wireless 1390 802.11b/g Mini-PCI Card EUR English - Genuine Windows XP Home SP2 including Media

    Dell laptops?

Anyone got any clues on the above question?
  9. I agree. From my experience with NTRegOpt I would reckon a reg defrag only needs doing once every 4-6 months at most.
  10. McAfee Site Advisor is quite useful, dunno about Comodo.
  11. In IE click Tools>Internet Options>Advanced Tab. In the 'Settings' tickboxes section there is the option under the security section you can tick to 'Empty temp internet files when browser is closed'

    Dell laptops?

I tried that as well, they wouldn't have it. Though chatting on another forum where this offer is being discussed one person was offered XP Pro for ?60, he refused and eventually got it with XP Home for the original price. So it seems a bit of a lottery on who you get to talk to (nearly got really annoyed when towards the end of the chat the Dell bloke said "I wish I could help". GRRRRRRR, you COULD, just give me what I'm asking for ) Gonna try again tomorrow. What about removing Vista and installing XP myself (using an old SP1 disc) - any difficulties in doing that if I do get it? Thanks, I get lost when comparing similar gfx cards
  13. Ah, so yours is better programmed
  14. Would have been better creating a new thread in the HijackThis Section of the forum. Though as Andy has posted here he should still see it.
  15. Have you ticked the 'Custom files and folders' box under CCleaners advanced section (Under the cleaners Windows tab)

    Dell laptops?

Well I just contacted them to see if they send it with XP instead of Vista and they pretty much point blank refused, said it comes pre installed with OEM Vista, nothing they can do he said. The only help he could offer was a recommendation for this: Inspiron 6400: Intel? Pentium? Dual-Core T2080 Processor (1.73GHz,533MHz,1MB L2 cache) Genuine Windows? XP Professional - English 1 Year Base Warranty - Collect & Return 15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display 1024MB 533MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x512] 80GB (5400rpm) SATA Hard Drive Intel? Media Accelerator 950 Graphics Up to 256MB shared graphics memory Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive including Software 6 cell Lithium-Ion Battery (53 Whr) Comes out at ?350, about ?30 more than the Vostro I was looking at. Any opinions on this spec in comparison to the original? Or perhaps getting the Vostro and removing Vista and installing XP myself (think I've got an old SP1 disc lying around somewhere)? How hard is it to replace Vista with XP? (as its something I have zero experience with) (Apologies for all the questions but the offer ends wednesday so I have to decide pretty sharpish)
  17. Really, even though there isn't really a viable alternative at present. Either Mac need to drop prices and get the compatibility up to MS standards, or Linux needs to become genuinely useable and make an even bigger step in improving compatibility.

    Woodworking?

Love the first one on there - the one with PATIO DOORS?!?!
  19. Thats easy for you to say
  20. Thats not right, speedfan monitors more than just HD temp.
  21. Doesn't this extension already offer that functionality?
  22. Just highlight the cookie and press the '<-' button to move to the cookies to delete side.
  23. Hmmm, wonder what this will offer that every other defrag out there doesn't already, bit of a crowded market to enter
  24. All I hope is that they've have at least learned some lessons from the reception Vista has received. Who knows, having produced a flashy OTT OS with Vista they might just bring out a simpler, safe, useable OS. I know, highly unlikely but you never know. Subscription based though?!?! That really could be the end of Microsoft OS's
  25. Cool, I got something right
