  1. You forgot the link. I was looking at the system requirements and it says 100MB of disk space. If I'm backing up my drive I would remove as much MB as possible, not add it 100MB. Anyways, I'm downloading just to look at it.
  2. Really cool one Dennis @ Ishan: Isn't version 6 supposed to be Vista?
  3. Here's what CC is cleaning! [AntiVir Desktop]ID=2138LangSecRef=3024Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Avira\AntiVir DesktopDefault=TrueFileKey1=%commonappdata%\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\FAILSAVE|*.*FileKey2=%commonappdata%\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\INFECTED|*.*FileKey3=%commonappdata%\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\LOGFILES|*.*FileKey4=%commonappdata%\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\SYSSAVE|*.*FileKey5=%commonappdata%\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\TEMP|*.*FileKey6=%ProgramFiles%\Avira\AntiVir Desktop|*.oldFileKey7=%ProgramFiles%\Avira\AntiVir Desktop|*.tmpFileKey8=%ProgramFiles%\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\FAILSAFE|*.tmp I've been doing some tests since the last release and I found out that AntiVir Desktop cleans itself. (specially the Program Files folder) There is no need to clean this stuff (except for FileKey3 and 5). I've excluded most folders until a fix comes out. Please fix this Mr.G!
  4. Here's some info about four of the most dangerous threats out there right now. I found this at zonealarm.com and I think that it's very important for us to know how we can get infected, how much damage they can cause and how to stay protected (although, zonealarm just want you to use their products) > Microsoft Video ActiveX Exploit > Nine Ball > Gumblar.cn Exploit > Conficker Worm
  5. lol Their website looks a little bad too.
  6. I third that. It is bad detecting stuff. I bet they haven't heard about the conficker! lol
  7. Looks nice and clean. About time they removed the command bar. I hope they also fix the processor and memory leaks + the security issues. Thanks for the link Ishan.

    Info on avast 5

Wow! It looks really cool! Thanks for the link.
  9. An SRWare Iron fan here I made some changes to the winapp2.ini made by equazcion. Here are the list of changes: > Changed %ProgramFiles%\Iron\Iron.exe to %ProgramFiles%\SRWare Iron\Iron.exe (for default installations) > Changed %LocalAppData% to %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\ (I used piriform docs) > Placed all the stuff into it's own section (SRWare Iron). > Added Archived History, Visited Links and Thumbnails cleaning into History cleaning. > Added Current Session cleaning. > Added * to remove some FileKey# Btw, nice job equazcion. 10. "Wipe free space" will make deleted data unrecoverable. Looking around the Piriform documentation site might help you decide what to mark for cleaning.

I use ubuntu to play with linux too. In fact, I play around with Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and even Debian. Here's a tip: If you use Kubuntu to rescue data, you won't need the "how to geek" process. Yes, I have tried the Paragon kit, and it makes wonders. It's like a screwdriver when a screw gets out.

yes "Unmountable Boot Volume" means that the file system is damaged. It can also mean that the hard drive wire is dirty or a little loose. The best way to fix this is with the windows cd. But here is something that might help you... The Paragon Rescue Kit can fix boot problems, and in case that doesn't work, it can help you get your stuff out (which is better than downloading an entire OS like Ubuntu, which is almost 700MB). Paragon Rescue Kit is a 46MB download and it's free, but you need to fill a small registration form before you can use it. (you will need a blank cd to burn the application)
  13. I know that you can give command-line parameters to setup.exe but I don't think that you can do the same with uninst.exe Command-line parameters here.
  14. I'm not sure if this will restore "Windows Live Sign-In Assistant" but it might be worth trying. Go to "Add/Remove Programs" click on "Windows Live Essentials" then on change/remove. A wizard will start giving you the options to uninstall or repair. Choose repair. If this doesn't work, then uninstalling and reinstalling will bring it back as it is integrated with the main installation.
  15. Seems like we all got that pm. Doesn't surprise me that hackers/spamers have considered this a sweet spot like myspace/facebook ect. btw, did you really did that? lol
  16. right click in a blank place of the toolbar and uncheck "lock the toolbars".
  17. Ok, go to CCleaner > Tools > Uninstall. Uninstall all of your Yahoo toolbars (don't uninstall CCleaner or anything else) Run the CCleaner setup again (the installer)
  18. Looks like your computer already overwrote them. Your files might be damaged and therefore unrecoverable.
  19. I didn't knew that one. Thanks.

    Recuva Folder Use

I'm not sure what you mean, but why don't you just download and install it on that computer? You can also use the portable version instead if you like. If you are talking about other drives attached to your pc, you can scan them if you just point to them.
  21. Download the CCleaner installer again and while installing it make sure that the Yahoo toolbar is checked. @ Dennis and Ishan: Where do you guys live?
  22. lol btw, fresh inputs are good.
  23. How about changing between themes? (not visual styles) Does that help?
  24. omg, I uninstalled Firefox because I was feeling that Safari was loading faster. I guess I was right. + Safari uses 2 times less memory than FF and others. + I miss the bookmarks showing up in the address bar.
