  1. I found something that might be useful. This is how to start system restore from taskmanager (or cmd)... (Win XP) If you can start taskmanager go to "New task" and type C:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe and press Enter. I hope this helps. Edit: You have XP, right?
  2. But you can start MBAM / SAS right? Can you run a scan with them? Does Ctrl-Alt-Del show task manager?
  3. Hi Warren Don't worry, you didn't. I was just trying to be cool with the mods and staff. I wouldn't delete them if they're recent. I don't use Wise Disk Cleaner right now, but back then when I used it I never had any problems. You don't always gain much from deleting these files (that's why I stopped using it), but it's useful to run a scan once in a while.
  4. Hi Warren Well, no. CCleaner cleans specific places only. But you might want to try Wise Disk Cleaner. (It has nothing to do with Piriform, CCleaner, Me, the forum or anybody in here. Try at your own risk.)
  5. Hi majax79 Well, No. Internet Explorer, as well as Windows Media Player and many others, are part of the Operating System. You can uninstall upgrades to these programs but their original versions will always be kept. Why? Well, for example, the only way to get to "Windows Update" through a browser is with Internet Explorer.
  6. Hi tedkord If you are using VLC Media Player Portable from this website (PortableApps.com) then you don't have to worry about leaving files behind. (make sure that you have the latest version) Anyway, here's a guide on how to use the winapp2.ini file. Here's also something about the system variables in CCleaner. I hope that helps.
  7. I don't think that's healthy for the system. I understand why, but how about if you run it like every four or five minutes. That way you can work without interference.
  8. I quote from the Piriform documentation site... Here's more.
  9. Hi CjMcC Actually, there is an easier way... Open CCleaner... Go to Option > Settings Check on "Add Run CCleaner option to Recycle Bin context menu". And there you go. As you want, it's sitting up there waiting and all you have to do is right click and run a clean. And because it is not in memory, well, of course, you save memory.
  10. Hi all... I'm gonna be quick. First my suggestions: 1- move "wipe free space" to the Tools section. 2- in the Options section, move the About button right bellow the Advanced button. 3- delete prefetch older than 48 hours. 4- delete MUI Cache that point to other drives. Now my comments: 1- I think that you have to be there when you wipe your drives. 2- to make it easier to navigate. 3- prefetch deletion is taking too much time. 4- some MUI Cache is being left behind. Just leave them in mind for future releases.
  11. That's exactly what I want!! Fingers crossed over here.
  12. Best way to describe it. That thing is a monster!
  13. I also agree. I mean, why would you want to rename an entry for?
  14. Be afraid no more. Go to Piriform Docs in case you have any questions.

    Have a read here.
  16. Have a look at the aplications tab. If it's not there, then make sure that you have the latest version of CCleaner.
  17. lol... I just read this. Anyways, at least FF3 it's better than IE8 (in every single way)
  18. I only update java when it's available here. Just to make sure that I'm not updating too soon.
  19. Thanks for the improvements Mr.G and the screenshots are awesome.
  20. Of course it does, they are in your favorites. Remove them from there and you'll see. Just type them down in a notepad or something. CCleaner will only delete your browsing history.
  21. In what directory did she saved her files? CCleaner only deletes junk files. Try using Recuva.
  22. Right click the taskbar, select the start menu tab, click on customize, and on the programs section, make sure that the number of programs value is 6. (I assume that you have Windows XP) After that, refresh the desktop (or do it anyways, it sometimes works). I hope this helps.
  23. Try repairing the program through Add/Remove Programs. If you can't, then try reinstalling. I hope that helps. Edit: Can you tell me which program is it? I just found some of these on my computer, from my lexmark printer, java, and MS Office.
  24. User Assist History Here's more.
